These group lessons are a special free offering for our patrons in the "Japanese Phonetics" tier. We will post the Zoom link about 24 hours in advance of the lesson. Please remember to confirm the lesson time for your local time zone so you don’t miss the start of the lesson!
This month's lesson will cover onomatopoeia: Sound words in Japanese.
Natsumi Sensei has the following notes for those interested in the upcoming lesson:
I don’t think Dōgen has an lessons specifically addressing this topic. I would like students to look up the meanings of some common onomatopoeic words before the lesson; for example きらきら, にこにこ, etc.
The site linked below is a good resource for onomatopoeia. It has an overwhelming number of words, but is useful for getting a sense of what is out there.
