Correction: At 9:31 I say that the ん in 天才 is said as a standard n, but this is incorrect (as was my pronunciation of the word at 9:38). The ん in 天才 is not said as the standard n, but a nasalized vowel, as the following sound, s, is a fricative. I also say around 14:00 that sometimes when followed by certain S sounds ん is said as a standard n, but this is wrong, and I make the same mistake again when explaining how to pronounce the second ん sound in 新幹線 around 17:15. I spend several minutes addressing this mistake starting around 22:58.
Again, when followed by an s, ん is said as a nasalized vowel. Note that it is also pronounced this way before other vowels, the Y and W sounds, and the は行 sounds. The rest of the explanation is correct—apologies for the confusion!
