POD 61: DIY Gene Editing with Dr. Josiah Zayner

In this podcast I interview gene hacking legend Dr. Josiah Zayner, founder of The Odin, a company dedicated to empowering people to do their own gene editing experiments. Dr. Zayner's work has been ridiculed in the media, censored from YouTube, and resulted in numerous government investigations. We discuss his battles with regulators and the beauty of scientific self-experimentation.

Great podcast! Surprised it isn’t in a collection. It took me a while to find lol. A little confused if the church guy was using 5meo tryptamine, seems like he should have been using 5meodmt to produce psilomethoxin.

You should see if you could get him to produce something that would cause a human to biosynthesise lsd. Maybe it could be linked to certain internal cycles like the menstrual cycle or responsive to the light of the full moon. Imagine the possibilities.

Just told about this episode to my mom a retired biologist who researched genic mutation in humans and she knew CRISPR back in the days already. Thank you guys for this episode, you made her day

I love you Hamilton! It's just in the intro you say things like there are no easy solutions and there are no good or bad guys when it comes to the high costs of pharmaceuticals. But unaffordable healthcare is a deliberate thing in America. Conservatives for decades have steered us away from universal healthcare. Ending our commitment to preserving health insurance companies over human health and life isn't overly complex. I feel like there certainly are bad guys when it comes to keeping life-saving treatments prohibitively expensive. It's everyone who still insists on keeping the needless paradigm of for-profit health insurance.
