September 28 Update

Well, the new TLS update is out, and while there are a few wrinkles that need to be fixed, nothing disastrous has happened. This takes us yet closer to the final release, but looking forward my schedule is busier than I'd like. Here's what's locked in:

So there's about half a month between two different book launches, if we count promotion before/after... can I properly support the big TLS release in that time? This is our last chance to have the Steam algorithm find new players, so I want to give it the best chance I can. On one hand, there's not much I can actually do aside from make some posts, it's more about needing time to respond to the increase in activity.

On the other, I don't like so many things crowding together. That wasn't my desire, but Audible set the DH date based on their own schedule. In an ideal world, I could just pick a time for TLS, but as we get into the end of the year we start competing with bigger releases and holiday events, so I think this is probably the best window.

I'm simultaneously too busy and not productive enough. =/ If I don't have more things prepared, there is going to be a serious dip in apparent activity that will coincide with what's likely to be a drop in support across multiple channels, which is not great. Not disastrous, since I've been preparing, but with creative work everything is on a long time scale as I've said in recent posts.

I don't know that I'm necessarily asking for opinions here, though you can give them if you want. That's the current situation as I see it!

Comments

To be clear, I have no intention of disappearing! I've been doing weekly updates for years and have no intention of changing that, it's just that if all these updates come around the same time I won't be able to deliver substantial content in the period after.

I know it's seems silly, but have you considered a daily doodle during a down time, just a stick figure sketch every day to show you still upload frequently? Some creators vanish for months and their pages feel like a tomb.

Sounds like a rough combination of scheduling factors. You're definitely one of, if not the most productive creative I'm aware of, so you at least have that going for you. Without knowing how much cross-penetration your players/readers have between personas it's hard to gauge how much your actual productivity influences the perception of your productivity in your various communities, but even before I knew about your other pseudonyms you were already notably prolific, delivering full releases of interesting projects without TLS seemingly ever slowing down progress. It's my hope that your preparations have been more than sufficient to handle the transition, and that it all goes smoothly. You certainly work hard enough that you deserve for it to.
