TLS 0.75.5 Public Release
Added 2024-09-27 22:29:39 +0000 UTCI try not to put out multiple public builds, but there are a handful of bugs in the current one that I don't want to be left out for everyone to play. New builds here:
https://the-last-sovereign.blogspot.com/2024/09/tls-0755-public-update.html
If you haven't noticed anything, don't worry about it. A couple quests are unbugged, a few LUK issues have been better balanced, and enemies with random drop tables have been removed. Further refinements to the dialogue busts as well, thanks to Rachnera and Lamsey.

Thanks for the information!

2024-10-05 01:35:19 +0000 UTCThanks, Grim! ECD: If it wasn't clear, your Advantage is actually very close and the issue is only how things fall out during the final push. This is complicated by a bug in the game that can cause the apparent distance between Hester and Xerces to be different than it actually is. Hopefully this will be fixed next build!

2024-10-02 13:07:44 +0000 UTCOh, ECD is being impacted by the issue mentioned. It isn't the reason ECD is getting a game over, but the Final Push variables look like they're off by 1 but they are off by 3.

2024-10-02 05:22:28 +0000 UTCYour save looks reasonably optimized at a very, very quick glance. You're off by 1 to continue past the Hester / Xerces final race. If you want to continue on, you can save edit variable 617 down by 1 or 618 up by 1. That's all you need. The way that the final battle currently works is documented on the wiki here: https://thelastsovereign.miraheze.org/wiki/The_final_battle If you need help editing the save, people in the official Sierra Lee Discord server can help, myself included. You can find that here: https://discord.gg/jKMncKyTZ7

2024-10-02 05:11:06 +0000 UTCThat is useful information, thank you! It is almost certainly not related to particular conversations - the more likely issue is modifications to the bust dialogue system, which is why I asked you to check multiple versions.

2024-09-29 12:48:38 +0000 UTCIts not just that discussion where it happens. I'd noticed it in the discussion over the campfire at the end of Megail's path with her, Hilstara, and Carina, but I don't have that save anymore. It just takes a long discussion to notice it. A friend of mine also had made note of it to me. He's in a different part of the game right now, more toward the end.

2024-09-29 09:58:10 +0000 UTCI re-downloaded 75.4RTP and created a new folder. I copied my save to it. I ran through the discussion 5 times with busts on and did not see any stutters. I then took the 75.5 files I had and dropped them into the folder like I always do to update. I ran through the discussion 5 more times with busts on. I saw at least 1 stutter in every run through the discussion.

2024-09-29 09:53:08 +0000 UTCThank you for checking to confirm! One more test: if you didn't play in version 0.75.4, could you try that version and see if it does the same thing?

2024-09-29 02:37:28 +0000 UTCI believe it is related. I ran several times through a sequence of them from a save. I ran 5 times with busts off and did not see any stutters. I ran maybe a dozen with busts on, and saw at least 1 stutter in every one set. It didn't happen at the same place. The particular save is the very beginning of Yarra's path heading to the meeting of the incubus kings. They are discussing their plans for the meeting.

2024-09-29 01:36:39 +0000 UTCHard to say for sure. I can only think of one meaningful test: turn off the new dialogue busts feature and see if the effect persists.

2024-09-29 00:31:48 +0000 UTCI don't know if it started just in this build, or if it was there in 75.4, but I have stuttering in the text during conversations. Short ones don't have a problem, but if its 2 or 3 lines worth, it sometimes will stall part way through a sentence, or sometimes even mid word... then pick up again a second or 2 later.

2024-09-28 21:39:14 +0000 UTCI'm happy to do so, though I'm not entirely sure where you want it uploaded?
ECD
2024-09-28 21:25:53 +0000 UTCSorry to hear you're having a negative experience. I actually did not intend for this section to be particularly exacting, but it's very difficult to diagnose the exact situation based only on this information. Would you be willing to upload your saves near the beginning and end for Grim, Thosha, or others? There IS a known calculation issue with the final push that could lead to players having a confusingly bad time, though I can't say if it is involved here. Without more information, it's hard to take meaningful action.

2024-09-28 21:18:24 +0000 UTCAlways good to see bug fixes. As a general comment, playing through the whole game again from the start, I really, really enjoyed it and the map/art improvements are excellent. However, I've now made several attempts at the final battle and have gotten the game over during the race every time, which requires replaying quite large sections of almost pure combat, with, at best, fairly minor dialogue differences depending on which choice is made. This is a strikingly unfun ending to a game that took 60-80 hours to get to this point (and then ~2 hours to replay the final battle I've already seen). I do think that greater clarity on what exactly the goal is (appears to be keeping them evenly matched, fair enough, but you're explicitly denied any sort of actual information regarding their standing for most of the final battle and, at least in my playthrough, Hester starts out significantly ahead, despite the nominal stalemate which we're told exists, so simply splitting focus resulted in an impossible situation the first time through. The second time I tried to focus almost solely on her and still got the game over). Given that I mostly play this game for the story, being forced to repeatedly replay sections that are, at this point since I've seen the (awesome!) story and character beats, almost entirely the part of the game I find least interesting (combat), with almost exactly the same enemies in order to see the ending...is quite frustrating. I'm not sure I've got a real solution to this, but some greater, especially early, clarity on who you actually need to focus on (I sort of assume it varies depending on what you've done), or the balance of power (you can occasionally get hints, but boy did I not interpret 'Hester has an edge in magical power' to mean, 'you have placed yourself in a no-win situation, go back and start over'). Now, it's certainly possible I've just messed something up (given timing, I wonder if Ulrissa's investment would have helped?) but, yeah, frustrated. Maybe I should just wait for final launch and a full walkthrough...
