September 15 Update

Alright, while people have been positive about the new elements of this release, it's been quiet overall. Probably going public on Friday, barring some new disaster. I reserve the right to change balance in the future, but this is what we're going with for now unless I get more feedback.

When things are quiet, I'm always still working. In this case, I'm making great progress on optional dungeon and final harem member stuff. We are on track for a shorter than average turnaround between versions 75.x and 76.x.

Because there will be less of a wait, I won't spoil. I have the impulse to spruce up these posts so they aren't just text, but... it's been a long time, people either trust me or don't. And you'll be seeing this new content soon anyway.

It's always weird when some stuff is going great and other stuff sucks. Gotta soldier on. I hope I have recovered by Friday, because I'm going to try some promo at release. But I'm fairly confident that by next weekly update, I'll be in a stronger position to evaluate everything and look forward in concrete terms.

Should be fixed next build!

Sierra Lee

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're enjoying those things, as those are what I was going for. ^-^

Sierra Lee

Also, completing aka's request seems to softlock the game? You get stuck on one on the roof of one of the houses.

So far, really liking the changes to Uyae's balance, feels alot more of an even tradeoff building her physical vs magical (especially in chapter 4, before she gets any magical damage skills). The new instant skills are also making combat a lot more interesting imo, and are giving me a lot more angles to look at for synergy with more of the cast having options for damage.

ActicLacid

These are minor adjustments that Lamsey and Rachnera have been working hard on. I recently swapped in a whole new set of files from them, so I hope that this will be fixed in the upcoming build!

Sierra Lee

One more minor bug, the square for changing facial expressions in the larger dialog portrait of Nalili is slightly off, by a few pixels only, but it makes the square visible.

Pheebor

Happened to me as well.

Q-Riff

0.75.3, yep!

Pheebor

On the newest version? I thought I knew why and tried to fix it, but maybe I misunderstood the layers involved. -_-

Sierra Lee

Hi! Minor bug: the sprite sex animation with Yarra is broken by the new bed in Stineford.

Pheebor

Huh, how did that happen? The player is supposed to stay on that map, not go back to the Market District. In any case, it will be fixed for everyone else, thanks!

Sierra Lee

Just finished regorging Aka's masterwork knife. When the scene ended it put me on the roof of a building in the Stineford Market District with no way off.

Bryce Remmenga

You shouldn't feel obligated, but thanks for offering feedback! I'm glad that you enjoyed the new dialogue system. ^-^

Sierra Lee

Just finished moving, I now has interwebs again, yay! Boxes.... booo!

Darthjake

I've read that already and I appreciate the warning/advice - But I lost my old saves and I'm really itching to catch up on all the content, so I'll have to do two playthroughs it seems 😉

The main 'content' of these weekly posts to me is really the text lol, so it's fine if there aren't any images. They don't hurt though! I really liked going through fanart of your various works from older posts, for example.

AnythingAtAll

I know it's not my obligation or anything, but I'm sorry to say I feel incapable of providing feedback regarding the skills' balance. I can say, though, that I found them very interesting, and will surely make the combat more dynamic, so congrats to you and everyone for the implementation!! (also I spent some minutes in the practice battle to try and see what the hell that Lilith's 69 warmup skill did, I chuckled when I first saw it but felt disappointed when it didn't kill the orcs instantly XD. I did not have the patience to try it again, to see if it has other possible effects, but maybe it shouldn't even deal damage and instead have some funny effect) What I admit felt strange to me is the amount of information the new skills have to convey now. For example, "Ambient Mana - Robin absorbs some mana from the air. (Instant) (Warmup 3) (Cooldown 3) (Limited 3)" feels very weird. Yeah, it's a natural response because it's new and different, but something tells me, from a design standpoint, that this can be handled more elegantly. I'm sure you all have to deal with serious limitations from RPGM capabilities and have thought this through, so this may as well be the best implementation possible, but I feel the need to point this out just in case this could spark something. What would be a "better way", I don't really know, so I'll ramble a bit. What first comes to mind is using more abbreviations or symbols. For information that is either 0 or 1, such as being (Instant), it can be represented with a singular symbol (I'll use some random unicode characters as examples). Maybe in the description itself: "Ambient Mana - Robin absorbs some mana from the air. ⭍ (Warmup 3) (Cooldown 3) (Limited 3)" or perhaps in the name, before: ⭍ Ambiente Mana or after: Ambiente Mana ⭍ It can also be color-coded, just making the name of the skill a different color. And for those with numbers, symbols can also be used, but then it becomes a different problem of everyone being lost as hell having to suddenly memorize all this: "Ambient Mana - Robin absorbs some mana from the air. ⭍ ⎊3 ⌛3 ⚠3" and the alternative to abbreviate is just: "Ambient Mana - Robin absorbs some mana from the air. ⭍ W3 C3 L3" okay I guess, but if we're going to put it like that, might as well write it all for clarity. Well, the advantage of it being text is that you can also color-code each of them if possible. Hmm, anyway, it really isn't a big deal. As for the portraits, it's sooo good!! Feels like a different game now! I'm convincing my friend to play the game soon, so I'll get to see the new prologue when I watch him~

Really appreciate your support! Though FYI, if you're thinking of doing a full replay, you might want to wait for some of the new features in the coming updates.

Sierra Lee

Just got back to supporting after a long time of being unable to and I missed seeing this game progress live - Keep up the fantastic work, my next days will be spent replaying this gem of a game from the start :3

Michael F.

I know people won't always comment, and that's perfectly fine, but thank you for taking the time. ^-^

Sierra Lee

Sorry, I know you can't see me smile and nod when I finish reading one of these update posts. I need to actually type something and say "Thank you for all your hard work!"

ThomWithAnH

Keep it up! Probably one of the best games I played in a while! Thanks for your efforts in it!
