TLS 0.74.7 Public Release

The final battle is out for everyone! Links, more info, full version history and all of that at the blog:

https://the-last-sovereign.blogspot.com/2024/07/tls-0747-public-release.html

Not sure how tiring the public release will be for me, in terms of new feedback, but patrons can look forward to another update Sunday. This major step is finally complete, but there are new fun things on the horizon!

Thank you for your comment! I really wanted this finale to live up to expectations, so I'm always happy to hear it hit right for someone. ^-^ For the whole game I'd been using the interludes as cliffhangers for the next events, so I have been looking forward to this final interlude being completely silent, bookending the entire game - as you noted, it's exact reverse order. I like it when stories feel like cohesive wholes, so those initial scenes were very important to me. They include major future events (like seeing Estaven/Sabitha) but I also chose them for embodying the game's overall themes (Alonon or Xerces). I hoped they would represent the whole game for anyone replaying during development, and now they serve to close the door on so many events that have been resolved. I'm glad it could have an impact.

Congratulations! What an incredible finale! To me it felt like ME2 final mission but way bigger and deeper, not only focused on characters but on all the choices. Especially happy with so many ways you found to connect normal people with normal powers and this great cosmic battle. Main theme during the counterattack was great and it feels that this theme would be fitting during so many moments of the final battle. The last cutscene mirroring the first cutscene between the prologue and chapter 1 hits hard. I had to go to the first saves to double-check that the last cutscene shows empty locations in the exactly reverse order. I have no idea how it felt to make that cutscene in the first version of the game. From the characters' perspective, the game could have ended at the end of Chapter 3, and we would have the conclusion to many plot lines and character arcs. However, the first cutscene was always there to point out that 3AW is not the end, just an end of the beginning.

Got them, thanks! >Also in the same event, the Pure Divinity isn't removed from the inventory if it was used: Eh, I'm unsure if it's worth taking away. It's not like it could have consequences later. >Is it deliberate that the Crest Of Nations doesn't seem to have any gameplay effect? I can't find any reference to it in the event dump, aside from receiving it. I was originally thinking of it as one of those marks of success that some games have for optional bosses, just for social accomplishment. I could add a bonus to the final sequence, I suppose? >I am disappointed that the Stineford Warehouse Key we've been carrying around since the start of chapter 5 didn't turn out to be the key to ultimate power. Or maybe I'm speaking too soon and it's for unlocking the final optional harem member's heart. Haha, ordinarily outdated items are removed at the end of a chapter, but since this is the last one...

Did a quick 0.74.7 run, found a few minor bits: Found some more unexpectedly-passable tiles in Light Locus: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/vhfmcb7i05x6a0ykpuyiz/Screenshot-2024-07-06-13.05.11.png?rlkey=wfoqhtzh9pk5wv66rdl6onucg&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9a0k5bqs1fx2zmn5fx65k/Screenshot-2024-07-06-13.05.29.png?rlkey=fz0u2yb87fffj3hltnkibzin6&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3roh15pv464fzbij5cbbf/Screenshot-2024-07-06-13.07.09.png?rlkey=eyx0chgzttkg9sehl1jgemic4&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/xz34drt9sxqm8z3eg9gti/Screenshot-2024-07-06-13.09.16.png?rlkey=lcc6p0tw5w4rkkbmc4hvmpgk2&dl=0 human -> mortal (since this is in response to Neranda's arrival) - Supreme Wall 001,000: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/68aiamdcfo2845c3tihj6/Screenshot-2024-07-06-15.58.52.png?rlkey=m8394jdpxm0jj4jkt8lb7tnu6&dl=0 These duplicate lines play sequentially if Wendis's stamina is tapped (same event as above): https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/68aiamdcfo2845c3tihj6/Screenshot-2024-07-06-15.58.52.png?rlkey=m8394jdpxm0jj4jkt8lb7tnu6&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/go4mtkvwumhu6wzoi3bib/Screenshot-2024-07-06-16.04.32.png?rlkey=264igo7gaxzac4eg2it3df1ic&dl=0 Also in the same event, the Pure Divinity isn't removed from the inventory if it was used: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/op6aacnzkrte7x7vn1t9q/Screenshot-2024-07-07-17.03.09.png?rlkey=hz0m2eelfj62h3f65x4hddjm2&dl=0 Two other things to note from that inventory screenshot: 1) Is it deliberate that the Crest Of Nations doesn't seem to have any gameplay effect? I can't find any reference to it in the event dump, aside from receiving it. 2) I am disappointed that the Stineford Warehouse Key we've been carrying around since the start of chapter 5 didn't turn out to be the key to ultimate power. Or maybe I'm speaking too soon and it's for unlocking the final optional harem member's heart.
