OEA Map Build + Novel
Added 2020-11-20 23:07:28 +0000 UTCI have a couple of things for you this weekend!
First, Street Cultivation 3 has been released. If you're interested in reading it, or if you've read it and want to support me with a review, you can find it here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NFJWWBF
Second, I have an unusual build of Once Ever After for you. I decided to open this one to $5 backers as special thanks for your support during my break. This isn't the complete game, it's a version specially designed to let you look at all the new maps:

If you've never played before, it might be weird to start with this version. Most plot elements have been locked off, but there will be random character conversations and it's possible that a path I missed will lead to a bug. You could play it just to look at the maps, if you didn't talk to anyone.
Anyway, I welcome any feedback on this! Doing maps this way is expensive and slower, plus I don't have the ability to correct any map issues myself. We've done all the Hoodton maps, so this is a good point for a referendum on the style. Two specific things:
- The Beneath Hoodton map is found through the Killing Fields. Please let me know whether you think this one is too confusing to navigate and we might change the floors/walls.
- Just doing one Tale in this style has already pumped the size up to nearly a Gig. The final game could be pretty big, and I hope there aren't bad loading issues for slow computers.
Anyway, that's what I have for you right now. Back on Sunday!

Thanks for giving feedback! I'm open to all feedback at this stage, though the logo happens to be a known issue. The main title screen and the credits are from separate plugins, and the two don't play well together. There's no obvious fix, but I'll figure something out eventually. By contrast, the changing chests is very easy to fix, the mapper just needs to do it.

2020-11-22 22:53:04 +0000 UTCThat build is actually so old, I almost don't recommend playing it. Unfortunately, my plans to knock out a quick finished build for new backers have been stymied by waiting on certain resources. Since it might be a while before the next build, I'll put the link here: https://mega.nz/file/y4tBUAII#sicbqdyj7O8fcDZX-htyfn75nUuKduNe9EnfYcD8tt4 This one is playable through much of the game, just with old maps/plugins, and your saves definitely won't be compatible with future versions.

2020-11-22 22:50:04 +0000 UTCNot what you're looking for, but I wanted to let you know that on the credits screen, the main logo is on top of the text. Also, the second "This game was made possible thanks to Patreon!" opens a new blank window. I'll edit this if I find more stuff for you. I like the title screen though! Good work with it! Edit: Just did quick "playthrough." I'll mention now that it was my first time playing this game. I don't know if I saw everything, but what I did see I really liked! Especially the red arena; I saw you post about it before, but seeing it in game was very impressive! The variety of trees in the forest combined with the lighting and shading also was great. I did get a sort of enchanted vibe from it. My only concern is that the cave system under Hoodtown isn't very functional. (Like what the other guy said, though I didn't see his post until after I wrote this.) You absolutely nailed the aesthetic and it looks and feels great, but it's a bit tricky to navigate purely because it's dark and can be hard to see where the walls and paths are. Also, the chests in the forest go from being wooden to green and metallic after being opened, but you probably already know that as well. The only other thing I can think of is that if you want more diversity on the maps, you might be able to reverse some of the sprites like you did for the cow skulls and skeletons (e.g. have rocks and flowers that are flipped as well). Overall, this looks great and I'm very excited for the final product! Thanks for making this!
