Comments

Caught you off guard didn't it Taco? "All this ass" mid sentence 🤣🤣🤣 your reaction so far is my exact reaction lmfao I'm like why df folks want everyone to watch this so bad? To make me feel childish or what? But naw there are more meanings an undertones

Precious

Thank you for posting these videos . The texts are blocked by your head on the right side of the screen so we can’t read them and see what part of the story they are. Also crave didn’t make them very readable. They’re too tiny. There’s they’re too soft and the colors are too similar so they’re not really standing out like they should to be able to help the audience follow along with those parts of the story so maybe you could add them to the bottom in a form of a caption?

Jon Michaels

That's what some people on youtube literally told me smh lol

Raymond Walker

nalla forrester

Im glad y Kristin..someone on youtube literally told me..they wanna see me squirm 😭😭it acutally made me a little sad because this show dives into a lot of things that a way bigger than just the sex scenes but who am I to tell people what part of my reactions they need to enjoy

Raymond Walker

Don’t worry — I promise we are not here to watch you react to dick sucking lmao. I’m here for your thoughtful analysis of these characters and their arcs

Kristin

I am with you 100%. Shane not only brings up very complex sensitive subjects, he (most likely due to being neurodivergent), has a really difficult time reading the "temperature of the room". When most people would pick up on Ilya's nonverbal cues and stop, Shane doesn't and instead he continues to force a conversation about a topic ilya is obviously uncomfortable talking about. We know, it's through no fault of his own, but that doesn't make it any easier on Ilya.

Kris

Billions of dicks smh lmao😭😭😭

I always feel so defensive of Ilya the first couple episodes of a reaction and have to remind myself y’all don’t know him yet 😂😂 But I think something worth noting with him not opening up is that every time Shane tries to connect, it’s with a subject that HE is comfortable with but would require a lot of trust/vulnerability on Ilya’s part — family and Russia. And it’s not Shane’s fault, he doesn’t know! But dang man, can we start with some chit chat about hockey and go from there or something? 😂

Amy Story

I'm so sorry for all these long comments! I never used to comment on anything ever until this show and now I find myself incredibly addicted and consistently analyzing every aspect of this show lol! I find myself constantly wanting to stick up for Ilya. Because he presents as confident, everyone assumes he doesn't need support, failing to realize he’s actually the one using humor and, yes, arrogance, as a defense mechanism to mask his fear. Shane at least has a family that loves and supports him. Ilya's behavior in Russia was a protective measure, not a rejection, dictated by the immediate dangers of that environment. The tragedy of that scene lies in the breakdown of mutual respect for boundaries: earlier, in Episode 1, Ilya immediately honored Shane's "not now" during the shower scene, but, during the figure skating scene, Shane failed to reciprocate that same response when Ilya demand his own need for space by saying " not now". "Please go" and "go sit down". Shane was just told by his teammate how dangerous it was in Russia and yet he still very obviously walked up to ilya and when ilya demands space Shane ignores him and continues to force the conversation until Ilya escalates it to the point Shane finally walks away. Shane has difficulty with subtextt, timing and is usually unable to read the emotional "temperature" of a room. I know it's been confirmed that he is on the spectrum which is most likely why, through no fault of his own, he struggles assessing social situations. I also believe that Shane’s naivety stems from his personal privilege. He has loving and supportive parents and lacks an understanding of what life in Russia is truly like because of his comfortable upbringing in the Canada. This often leads to a disconnect with Ilya, who is constantly in 'survival mode' while navigating the complexities of Russia. This is apparent during the ep 1 balcony scene, when Shane assumes Ilya's return to Russia wouldn't be anything other than positive even though the look on Ilya's face very clearly says the opposite. Also as mentioned above, the figure skating scene, where Shane's valid emotional needs clash with Ilya's explicit demands for space. The situation is complex because while Shane's feelings are valid, Ilya is dealing with immense professional and personal hits, from a dangerous country, to a demanding family and career setback making his guarded behavior a consistent coping mechanism.

Kris

its funny how for all the gay sex in the show, there is not ONE penis shown, whereas on euphoria you had to see too too many dicks 😭

nataly

I am really enjoying how seriously you are taking the show. You're picking up on several things that a lot of reactors I've watched haven't noticed. In regards to hockey, Shane is the intensely serious, dedicated competitor, while Ilya is the naturally gifted, casual talent who uses hockey for success. They both work extremely hard, but are motivated by different reasons. As you pointed out they contrast heavily in their private lives as well; Shane is struggling to define his sexuality, whereas Ilya is secure in his bisexuality, but lives in the closet for safety, fearing the consequences due to his ties to Russia.

Kris

I'm really glad you decided to react to Heated Rivalry. This series is incredibly important because it provides a realistic portrayal of the queer experience and allows many people who usually don't feel seen to finally see themselves represented. I was really shocked by the explicitness of the sex scenes at first, but then I thought about shows like Bridgerton, True Blood, and Game of Thrones, were the sex scenes are often quite explicit, but because straight sexual intimacy is so normalized it's barely a talking point; this show is vital because it offers that same normalization for queer sexual intimacy. I, myself, wouldn't compare it to porn, one of the biggest reasons is because they sex scenes are vital to the storytelling. They provide meaningful character insight rather than serving as mere gratuitous content. The early, explicit scenes in the series are especially essential for character development, acting as a raw, nonverbal dialogue that reveals what Shane and Ilya cannot say aloud. Because they only meet sporadically, their relationship is forged through physical intimacy rather than emotional vulnerability. The scenes feel profoundly realistic—rather than sanitized fantasies—because of the intense chemistry between Connor and Hudson, who treat the choreography as an emotional confrontation rather than just a physical act. One poignant example of this physical, non-verbal storytelling is in the first hotel room scene with Shane's reaction to his first gay sexual experience. This scene powerfully conveys his complex feelings—excitement, embarrassment, fear, and shame—through the obvious awkwardness of the situation. The scene also shows Ilya's perception and understanding of Shane's feelings, which leads him to leave and afford Shane the space he needs. Another example is the second hotel room scene further highlights Ilya's profound respect for consent. He prioritizes Shane's comfort over his own desires, demonstrating exceptional patience andbunderstanding regarding Shane's inexperience. It shows us that even though Ilya comes across as arrogant he's actually quite thoughtful and kind. The show also effectively challenges common misconceptions; I was genuinely surprised how many street people, especially men, we're confused about the dynamics of sexual intimacy between two men. The only information they often have about queer sex is from existing media (which is limited) and pornography (which obviously doesn't provide Side Note: Hudson Williams who plays Shane Hollander recently revealed his inbox is filled with messages from real-life professional athletes still in the closet. These athletes, reaching out privately via Instagram or through author Rachel Reid, have expressed how deeply they feel seen by the show’s nuanced depiction of the pressures and isolation faced by queer players in hyper-masculine environments.

24:00 one of the reaction channels I watch literally just put up a card that said “you know what’s happening” during some of the sex scenes lol

Henry Leor

Okay so beyond the joy of watching you white knuckle through some of the most intimate sex scenes I've seen committed to film lol, I'm really enjoying these. You say the hook for a lot of folks must be the sex which like, yeah-- the series of books this show is based on is suuuuuper smutty and that explicit content is definitely part of the draw-- I actually think that final shot of episode 2 is the real hook for most people. "We didn't even kiss" is like YES there are feelings developing and that's going to be the real issue going forward. I am showing some major financial restraint by not immediately upgrading to watch the rest of these at once hahaha. I have a FEELING that your investment to 3-6 will be much higher..... hopefully.... bc this show has EATEN my BRAIN since it premiered in November hahaha. I really hope the algorithm does you right on Youtube for these. I've seen super small channels get a major bump on their reactions to it (very similar to IWTV) so fingers crossed.

Natasha

YESSSS I AM SEATED (watching during my wfh dayyy)
