Up there with Tim and Noelene as far as the supporting cast. Speaking of Dale being socially awkward in a cringe way, and saying this as someone with "autistic as fuck but good at putting on a show" on my diagnosis list, Dale feels unambiguously high-masking autistic in his writing. No non-autistic kid starts watching the news every day and night at age 7, taping the news, taping his own bits to watch back and make sure he sounds fine, and having to fight off being told how robotic he is constantly. He has social awkwardness that can be attributed to his trauma, sure, but it's WAY beyond that, to me. He feels very "one of us" in such a relatable way. Plus the way autism combines with trauma, he does all the things he needs to to try and seem "normal" and seems to have put in a lot of effort to learn HOW to be normal, but still fails. He's a hot white visibly able bodied man at a perfect age to be respected, but everyone still sees how awkward and weird he is. You being baffled at "tountry's cock" made me laugh hard and I got bruised ribs from the flu so it hurt real bad. Also Lindsey is every evil under the sun, I hate that red bitch

Charlie really surprised me, I expected him to be an empty suit with all the marketing decisions he was making in the first episode - it seemed completely asinine to promise results at a specific time. He actually turned out to be really savvy. In the second episode we see he’s willing to take correction, that confidence seems earned. I’m excited to see where his character goes.

Based on how much you're loving this and seem to love good characters and writing, plus your interest/work in psychology, I think you'd really appreciate it. It's an incredibly beautiful show about 2 teenagers leaving school, going to college, trying to find out who they are, and being entwined with each other. Sounds simple but it's so well done. There's a particular scene where one of the characters sees a psychologist and the acting and the feelings expressed are so raw and relatable. I can't recommend it enough. Plus it's a limited series so it's a quick watch and well worth it

The misogyny in the work force is especially stark for Helen in these episodes, but she doesn't take any shit -- she doesn't show it on the outside at least. She's an incredible character. An excellent representation what it was like in the 80s/90s becoming a professional woman -- so many doors opening but with a lot of obstacles still blocking our way.

I meant everything I said as well Jess. If not for you I would not have been able to appreciate his character the way I do now I might have still been stuck in disliking him without being able to appreciate the subtle nuances in his character. So from one human to another I really appreciate you for that. I hold those kind of things really near to my heart and I'm glad you feel empowered to speak freely!

I’m always down to yap about characters. You set the tone though. People can just say what they think without having to defend it. You’re also more open to strange character moves than a lot of reactors, so it doesn’t feel like we’re playing offense/defense.
