As an entomologist and taxonomist I collect a lot of insects like Scotty was saying, and people get up my ass about collecting bees because the “bees are dying” but all the same environmental pressures are impacting all the other insects too. Not just pollinators are important, everything has a role even if we don’t fully understand it at the moment. It surprises me how many people are afraid of insects when the vast majority are extremely harmless. But I think part of it is people are afraid of what they don’t know, so I try my best to teach people about the organisms around them. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with insect identification questions. It is quite literally the only thing I am good at
