Vault 33 had no real test other than to see if people could be good to each other or something like that, but I think it was also about being submissive to other vaults? Which is why they always elect from Vault 31.
Oh, and at about 45:00, when the Ghoul called the dog Dogmeat, the Fallout gamers finally lost our shit, as in the games you always meet a dog named Dogmeat in the games, so we had all been wondering why that dog hadn't been referred to as Dogmeat yet, and here was the payoff!
The normal everyday people in the Vaults are not to blame and should not be held responsible. The people from 31 are the ones who are to blame, that whole system. And the people in other vaults are not responsible either.
Since nobody else has seemingly addressed it, ghouls live longer simply because their bodies don't get hurt, as evidenced by the squire who became one and was fine when he got hurt. They need the drugs that the Ghoul was taking on order to not go feral, which is what was happening to the ones who kept saying their names to themselves mixed in with snarling. They were trying to keep themselves from going fully feral.

We were definitely screaming at the city skyline. “War never changes” is also a huge fan service line that’s in every game. There’s a benefit to playing all of the games, but you can hop in with any of them. You would probably enjoy New Vegas the most (just for the morally ambiguous choices), but 3 and 4 are great starting points.

About to watch but wanted to let you know this one is missing from the collection. 🤓

Such a great show, great rewatch, great reaction! When you said "Youuuuuu muthafuckers!!!" at the end of ep 7, I lost it 😂
When her dad at the end says, "You see what this place does to people?" I wanted to PUNCH HIM SO HARD. My guy. YOU CAUSED IT. It's YOUR fault the world is like that!!!!! Ugh, the definition of gaslighting.
Just as an FYI, Dane's character is non-binary, and the actor uses he/him pronouns.

Not you and Lucy having the exact same reaction to the squire 🫢
Also, I would pay good money if John Wick showed up 🤣

I don't play the game or know the story, but here goes: Initially, I thought Norm would get into his father's pod, which might result in his dad dying. The brain on wheels mentioned DNA, so I thought that was a key element in Norm being able to go into his father's pod. But I'm thinking that's wrong. Maybe someone can explain Bud's Buds to me a little more. Can anyone climb in any pod? Are the pods specifically designed for a particular person? If it's something that results in a spoiler, I don't want to know.
I keep waiting for us to find out what happened to The Ghoul's daughter Janey and his wife -- but more so I care about his daughter.
Do we know anything about Season 2?

I totally missed that!! I did register the name, but the significance went over my head. I was so focused on figuring out what was going on with his wife, and I suspected that the person who wanted to meet him was going to be someone we already knew.

I was waiting to see if you caught the wife’s secretary was Betty, who became the latest overseer of vault 33.

The enclave scientist injected the cold fusion thingy in his neck, which is why we all wanted the head, for the tech.
In the first game you find a dog named dogmeat who you can bribe into joining your party. The little guy is nearly useless in combat and he loves to run right into the path of enemies with gigantic miniguns. It’s a constant battle to keep him alive but I don’t know a single player who doesn’t keep him around anyway. There’s just something about having a doggy friend with you while you wander the wasteland. All that to say, there would be rioting in the streets if the dog died.

I got what you were putting down about life being good and our ability to connect this way. The world is horrible, I had a cold on my 40th birthday this past Thursday, I still feel like crud, but it made my day that I could spend a couple hours of my Sunday watching you react to these last 2 episodes, especially since I’m still recovering and can’t do much else.
I like how both Max and Lucy’s journey’s parallel each other and tie back to what the Enclave scientist said earlier in the season: “Will you still want the same things when you become a different animal altogether?”. Both of them went through transformative journeys over this season. Lucy certainly doesn’t want to bring her dad back to Vault 33 anymore, and Maximus has changed his mind about the Brotherhood. Old Max would have been thrilled to have the mantle of Knight handed to him even if he wasn’t the one who made the kill shot, but you can see it in his eyes, he doesn’t want it anymore. I agree with you, I think his character arc going forward will be about wrestling with that mantle and the torch that Moldaver passed on to him. He saw what change she affected by hitting that button and understands what it means for everyone in this world, and what the Brotherhood stands to gain from controlling that power. And how dangerous that is. Even though he has had a lot of grey morals this season, it’s because he was very much still a child in some ways, still working through it, still figuring out his way. I think he now has a better understanding of who he is and what he wants and stands for and we’ll see that conflict with the Brotherhood in the next season.
As for The Ghoul, I’m guessing all of us didn’t say much about how he became “The Ghoul” because we still don’t completely know the full extent of his story. We see what he learned of his wife, which explains why in the pilot episode someone says he’s doing birthday parties for alimony - his marriage clearly dissolved after the revelations of episode 8, and he mentioned at the party that he started losing work because he had become the face of Vault-Tec. His question asking where his family is tells me that Janey got to Barb ok, and they made it to a Vault, but the end of their marriage meant he didn’t have a spot. And he survived the bombs dropping, so I’m guessing it’s part radiation exposure and part taking the serum that keeps him from turning feral. I’m curious to see how much more we dig into his story in S2 since we still have questions there.
I think Moldaver must have had a cryochamber to keep her frozen like Bud’s Buds. She was wealthy and a scientist. When she was woken up and why? I’d like to know but I doubt we’ll get that.
Since we don’t see Norm getting into a pod, I’m hoping that means he figures his way out of the Vault 31 situation with his smarts.
Definitely a finale that stuck the landing!

I'm writing this comment before I watch the last episode with you. Why do I feel like Norm and Lucy's mom is in 31?
Well, that was wrong, but at least their mom appeared in some fashion. I knew there was more to her story.
Great show!

Someone remind me why everyone is after the head? It's been so long since we watched the first two eps. Thanks!
And if that dog dies, I will stop watching.
