Welcome back to ArTorr Monthly!!!! Let me give you the scoop on what I worked on last month and what you should look out for in the month(s) ahead!

A video I announced in November and tried to get out last month (do or do not, there is no try) is still not done by the time this is dropping on Patreon. I apologize for the constant pushback, and I really appreciate how understanding some of you have been with the delays. Y'all rock. Though it is a shorter video, this is one of those videos where I keep finding opportunities to continue adding things beyond my original cutoff. I wouldn't normally do that for 95% of my videos, but every little addition at the last minute is tying this particular video together so beautifully. I'm really happy with it and hope you are too. Just a tad bit longer of a wait and it will be yours to watch!
At this stage I can announce that the Rogue One video I also announced in November is titled The Myth That Rogue One Shattered. For those that have seen all the Star Wars videos on the channel, you know how central the concept of myth is to what we explore about the series (and other franchises even). This title then signifies what you might expect; a shift into a mode of Star Wars discussion that isn't about the myth, but Star Wars stories that have surprisingly little to do with it. This starts with Rogue One, and eventually (inevitably) Andor. But it also applies to a lot of Legends Star Wars stories, including video games-- which may be a hint for where I want to take our Star Wars videos in the future. This will all be more clear in-time, but for now it's a fun thing to talk about.

So far the script is done, recording is done, and I am now in the early stages of video editing. Remember The Clone Wars sidetracked me from making any more progress last month, but it's exciting to see things start coming together. The video will feature lots of behind-the-scenes material, historical images and video, and selections from the soundtrack of Rogue One and a couple other movies including Godzilla Minus One (ohh if you knew what I was going to do with that music).
My hope is to release this video at the end of January. What is likely to happen is that it will release sometime in February. Regardless, I am taking the time and making the push to get it to you as soon as possible!
Over the last two months I shared with you my plans to overhaul the channel, which included changes to current Patreon content. Now that it's 2025, these changes will now be in effect. Here's a breakdown of what they look like for all tiers--
ParkesTorr! A new weekly vlog series where yours truly talks about pretty much anything and everything; video games, movies, music, memories, personal struggles, life, etc. Will go up every Tuesday for ALL Patreon tiers!
Untitled ArTorr Podcast! Later this month, my cohost Davie Karczeweski and I will be putting out the first episode of our Patreon-exclusive podcast about videos games, movies, TV, and more! It's untitled because Davie and I have not agreed on a title yet (oops), but I'll do another announcement later this month closer to when the Podcast arrives to give you all the details. All future episodes will drop the last Thursday of every month for ALL Patreon tiers!
Changes to pre-existing content | There will be no new Creator Diaries or Video Editing Breakdowns for the forseeable future. Writing Breakdowns are not gone forever, but won't be done for every video. Video Commentaries will continue and remain exclusive for Tier 2 and above. One of my goals for the month is to figure out a nice schedule to record and upload commentaries for older content that I've never done a commentary for. Stay tuned!
To be honest with you, I was was hoping to have both the Rogue One and Clone Wars videos out on the channel by now. I like the clean break of a new year starting, and it would've been a great excuse to discuss a roadmap for the year. But as neither video is out yet, I'm not yet ready to officially declare what the "plan" for this year is. I will tell you what I'm currently thinking however.
In a few months, I'll be making arguably my biggest move ever to a new address, out of state. I'm very anxious about the whole thing, but fortunately I have a few months to prepare for it, which I will definitely need. While I'll 100% be spending sufficient time working on content during this period, the demand of my day-job and the preparation for this move are two things that are going to take priority. There is one long-form essay project I'm all-but certain I'll be working on after the Rogue One video releases, but one of my goals is to to really take this time to lean on shorter content. Video shorts, shorter essays, etc. It's just going to be a lot easier to focus on these projects when I don't have the proper time to immerse my attention into a long-form project. This is a vital part of what I discussed wanting to overhaul about the channel, and this is where that approach really matters.
Conversely, my hope for the second half of the year is to take advantage of the reset that will come with moving to a new place to pour my attention into the next long-form project. Again, I'm not ready to talk specifics. But to sum up what I can see in the next few months: a focus on shorter projects, followed by the next long-form video essay. Until I'm ready to share a roadmap, please share me your ideas for future videos, whether they are specific topics or movies/video games/tv shows you want me to discuss!
That concludes the first ArTorr Monthly of 2025. (woo hoo)! Thank you for reading, and may all your New Year Resolutions come true. See you again soon!
