Dev Blog - Patching Away

So, after more than a month I FINALLY have the automated patcher version of my Faction Distribution Framework ready for testing. It's been a headache, but it's finally more or less done, at least to a point where I'm happy for other people to test it. Now, the question I'm pretty sure most of you are asking is "What does this mean for LitR?".

Well, LitR relied on the old Faction Distribution Framework to handle compatibility between Lunar, the various paintjob mods, and everything else that wanted to touch weapons and armor, and levelled lists. As you can imagine, this was a headache to maintain if I wanted to change anything. With the new patcher, I will be able to just rerun it, instead of having to manually update a ton of custom built patching. This means that V7.2, with it's overhaul of the standard weapons, is one step closer. With a little luck, I should have another beta for 7.2 out in the near future.

Additionally, of interest for anyone who owns the creation club skins wanting to add them to LitR, this means that integrating them should be as simple as deleting the existing patch and running the patcher.

While there are a couple of upgrades I'm hoping to make to the patcher in the future - automated integration with Immersive Paintjob Unlocks, cleanup of naming and crafting restrictions, etc, what I'll be working on next is getting 7.2 out the door. I'm also targetting the release of Anniversary Edition for the Nexus release of FDP- given that AE ships with a ton of free creation club skins, I imagine a distributor might be popular, and unless they rebuilt the record structure from the ground up the script should just work on AE. Sadly, it is probably going to be quite a while before LitR migrates to AE, if it ever does (although the compiler will of course be updated agains the patch that will likely drop for the old edition of the game).
