Roadmap! Always works, right?
Added 2025-06-27 01:52:24 +0000 UTCSo... funny thing happened this week. After saying in my last post "I don't know if I can finish this episode this month" I finished this episode this month. So sometime in a week I'll have a new build out to $5 backers.
I have setbacks and blocks, but I'm generally setting a pace of one episode a month. So I think I feel confident enough to drop a roadmap on you. A thing developers always follow to the letter and never fuck up, right? Ha ha! Well. I'll try, anyway.
JULY: "Be Kind Rewind" and framework post- and pre- episode scenes with Management in the writer's room.
AUGUST: "Just Say No." I'm reviving the anti-drug episode for Remy's very special episode, mixing together "Unsafe at Any Speed" into it.
SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER: "Last Dance," the big finale. This one is going to take longer because it also packs in the endings and any other miscellaneous writing needed to carry the whole thing off. October is also Steam NextFest, and I'll be debuting the demo at that point, which consists of the "Let's Get This Bread" tutorial pilot episode.
NOVEMBER / DECEMBER: Finalizing, polishing, testing, fixing bugs, tweaking, and generally getting everything ready to go. Also doing a marketing push to get people ready. Not that I plan to spend big money on marketing -- the $12,000 I spent to market Penny Larceny was a massive waste of time, but at least keep folks informed that this game exists and is coming.
JANUARY 2026: Release! And ahead of all the murderer's row of major AAA releases in Spring 2026, too.
I think this is all entirely doable, and will put us on track for a January 2026 release -- essentially one year after Shadow Over Cyberspace. Will I be able to make a game a year until I die!? Probably not! But it would be nice.
Anyone who has contributed at the $5 tier and above at any point in the process is entitled to their name in the game's credits. I'll be collecting that information late this year but if you gotta drop out of the Patreon before then, that's okay! Just let me know what name you want me to use.
So... that's the plan! Now let's see if we can do it.
