Polls n' Indecision

If it wasn't obvious already, I'm new to this whole Patreon thing, heck, I'm new to the whole "Make content get cash." gig.  So for whatever reason, I apparently made one of the benefits be a poll where you get to vote on whatever character that you wanted to see updated. 

Not the greatest incentive in the world, and here's why. 

1. How do you define "Updated"? As I've tried multiple things in the past that turned out to be huge mistakes, does that mean to bring in more in line with my current "style"? Or does that mean better or even new outfits? That's pretty fucking vague so if you went for that option, you had no idea what exactly you were gonna get out of it. 

2. You can only enter in this poll once. Yeah, so uh, I think I meant it as more of an overall tier upgrade. Y'know, "If I get 20 bucks a month, there will be a monthly poll." kind of deal, not "Pay a dollar to enter a poll you can only do once." That doesn't sound all that appealing, no? 

3. You don't get new cards. For a tier that says "For those who want more cards." 

So, I've taken that out and cooked up something else instead. 

Now, it may be bit of a surprise to y'all, but I actually don't watch a whole lot of anime. I don't know why either, I mean, I like the art style n' all but for whatever reason I barely ever watch anime. I do, however, play a shitton of video games that happened to be made in Japan. Hence why nearly 99% of my cards are all from video games, with one or two coming from a show or something else. 

So, it's not that I'm some anime snob sneering at anything that doesn't reach the levels of a masterpiece work like Crayon Shin Chan, I just don't watch 'em all too often. But, the big appeal of KK is for the anime tiddies and if I open the poll up for whatever the hell y'all could think of, I'd end up with a whole lot of waifus from shit I never even heard of. Quite hard to hear from underneath this rock y'see. 

Ironic coming from someone who takes pride in making waifus that don't even have porn of 'em. It's not that I go out of my way to be as hipster as possible, but it's for a reason that quite a number of folks have for making things: It doesn't exist, but I want it to. That's kind of my design process. I mean, why spend time on making something that you know tons of others are gonna do anyways? 

It's only when I know unless I do it, ain't no one else is, do I get off of my ass and make 'em. That works great for me, but not for most folk. And y'all are paying me to make shit, so it just wouldn't do to make content for me and only me, right? But at the same time, it's that drive of "I want this to exist dammit." is what propels me to make these cards. 

So, I've been thinking, and I figured out a way that'll kill two birds in one stone as well! Instead of having a completely open ended poll, I'm thinking of making a poll based on what I had planned on making or was in the process of doing so, but then dropped because I got distracted. And boy, do I have quite the fucking list. 

While this may seem a bit limiting, at the same time I think this is preferable to leaving it completely wide open. Too wide of a net makes the poll useless as it'll result in a whole bunch of characters, but only one or two votes. Whoever  wins would be a result of having just one more vote than the others, which isn't too hard to accomplish because of how spread out the votes are. 

Instead of that, I believe concentrating them on a few characters would make everyone happier as it gives your vote a lot more weight. Meaning that whoever wins at least won because of majority of folks wanted them, rather than because they had two votes against everyone else's one.  

Not every character would be from some of obscure indie game, but one might pop up from time to time as I'm just gonna pull a couple of names out of a hat and they'll be the options for that month. The poll will be held at the last two weeks of every month and whoever wins will be the card that'll be made in the following month. 

For now, the choices are gonna be highly limited, as I only have one patron. I'll increase the number based on how many patrons I have at the time. My goal is to ensure that generally, the card that wins is because a majority of folks wanted them and to not end up with ties. So, say, if I were to have 3 patrons, the choices will be set at two, rather than 3 because with the latter you can end up with a 3 way tie. That's not great, hence why I'm doing it like this. 

The cards will be available to everyone, but the polls will be exclusive to patrons only. At the very least, you'll always get a card per month, but paying does mean you get to weigh in on exactly who will be made. 

I'm not gonna do the poll right now as I want to hear from y'all on what ya think of it first. Plus there's  a character that I've been wanting to work on for a while now so I want to get that out of the way first, so yeah! That's what I've got planned so far. Lemme know what ya think!
