Hello Patrons! We have a Few Questions?

As you know we’re still trying to figure out consistent posting, engage with all of you, and make enough money to continue our travels while getting the best content out. We just realized that when we monetize our videos and post them a week early, you all are watching the commercials as well. We apologize for that and will be changing the monetization ON when we post our episodes publicly.

What we would like to ask you all is, are there any recommendations you have for us to better our channel? How did you find us on Patreon and what do you believe will build our following on Patreon? Do you think a few short, specific videos, such as how we take care of the dogs on the boat, specific technical details such as about our helm, a day in the live aboard life, etc. will be something you and others will enjoy?

Would love to hear your feedback! Like we said we’re still learning and trying to figure it out and who best to ask than our biggest fans 😁

I'd love to see more about the dogs and how you guys take care of them underway! But I think as long as you focus on sharing what makes The Far Side unique and don't try to copy other channels you'll continue to grow! Maybe try to limit your videos to 10-15min each so you're not overwhelmed with editing and uploading stuff. A lot of the big channels have several months of footage stored up at a time and release them as they can instead of trying to keep everything in the videos up to date.

I would concur with virtually everything everyone has already said. Thursdays evenings are always a treat to kick back and see what trouble you two have been getting into over the week 😉😆😂 With that in mind though, I would like to add with the cooking thing, perhaps you would like to share with us some of your favorite and different ways you like to prepare the seemingly daily catch.

I like the way you tell/explain what's going on and then show us. It makes a lot of sense. Also enjoy the boat projects because there's always something to do and that's real life.

Yes map is actually a really great suggestion! Thank you so much!! We just figured we’d show the real side of sailing, it’s not always fun in the sun and water 😅

Ok, yes we started doing that, but then we’ve slacked a little. Will start adding map videos for sure!!

Sometimes just doing daily routine things on the boat is enough. It’s nice to know where you are and where going shown on a map. Boat projects are always good to watch. In general, you’re doing a great job. I watch several sailing videos and yours is one I like to support. Keep up the good work.

Yes that’s exactly what we were thinking. They wouldn’t necessarily count as an episode but shorter videos. Yah cover questions people have been asking. Background video is a great idea!

I really like your underwater video and photos. The one with the sharks a few weeks ago was amazing (E29). When you plan a passage, I would like to see it on a map. Every time you say you are here or there, I open Navionics to see where it is.

I don't know that the channel needs to be improved per se but some content suggestions would be maybe adding some regular smaller segments like sharing a recipe or how to filet a fish tell a story with your time by finding unique people or place to profile. More about you and your family how you got here where you want to go with the channel?
