February Release - SSR1 Alpha2

This is the case that fits around the drive mechanism released last month. Two of the parts have been updated (Spine Top and Spine Base).

There's also an updated Arduino sketch. This is an interrim version that doesn't require a microswitch, instead it simply drives the receiver gently against the bottom end stop. I'll be adding in a hall effect sensor at some point, but in the meantime this method seems to work okay. Note that the encoder pin has changed,. and be sure to check what voltage you're using 12v or 20v and set appropriately.

Use M3 bolts to hold the case together, M2.5 bolts to mount the trays. Ordinarily I would give you some instructions to put this together, but it's been a hard month and I am going on a much needed holiday in the morning. Besides, it's not that complicated; you guys are smart and I believe in you.

My plan is to put out out some more comprehensive documentation in March. In the meantime you can find help on discord or check out this month's livestream.

(Edit 24-2-23: I forgot to include the motor controller in the pack. I've attached it to this post.)

Haha! And I also noticed some post or message mentioning possible twist support in the future. Nice!

FeelSensation

It's double the stroke length and a lot faster. No competition. ;P

TempestVR

SSR1 seems to be like a Kiiroo Keon competitor. Correct? Just single axis.

FeelSensation

"It's the current year" argument aside, I do intend to get the wifi functionality into the official firmware in the near future. Battery operation is a bit more complex, but there are already members of the community working on it. Appreciate the compliments, thanks.

TempestVR

While saying things like "Please consider..." is totally fine, I think it's borderline offensive to then say things like "...(whatever) is a must in 2023." If you want to design your own version of this and "come to an arrangement on credit/benefit" with a 3rd party, great, you should go do that. Otherwise, just be appreciative of the immense amount of work and dedication this has taken to get the product here.

Onlyidavail

Please consider rolling in community additions into your original designs. Stuff like UDP from Khrull are a must in 2023, imho. I suspect you guys can come into an arrangement on credit/benefit. (such as an end-credits list with patreon links, etc.) Wireless and battery operation is really great, and official support opens up modifications off the official release to march in a compatible direction.

sure, I assume it's much smoother and quieter, but not as snappy as something like a JX. Definitely would be curious to see an alternative gearing for higher speeds if that's possible. Time to find that password and start a shopping list. :) There's definitely a place for quiet.

Not an easy comparison because it really depends on the servos you’re using in the OSR2. The BLDC motor in this design has a lot of torque: ~3kg force on the receiver. Almost too much. I might gear it to run faster in future.

TempestVR

Nice, I assume the servo might be a bit overwhelmed by the weight? How is performance of this versus the old SR2 style stuff? (I know you plan on taking this tech into bigger devices, and this is just the first step.)

Patron

Designed around Feel Stroker, but I’ve recently released a compatible 3D printable case that will take a fleshlight sleeve.

TempestVR

Looks sharp. This does not work on a FL, correct?
