Celebrating 8 years of the "1 year" Scrapulance

Hello all!
Thanks so much for your patience over the summer whilst I galavanted around and enjoyed a wonderful summer in the UK (I know! shock right?) I got a lot squeezed in I even got to meet a handful of you guys on here which was amazing.
But although I'd intended on filming it all, I just didn't.
I'd gotten a little lost with content direction again so took some time out.
Seeing where the "vanlife" scene has gone in recent years kinda took it out of me, not just the mainstream slop that I don't even need to describe, we all know the calibre I'm talking about. But also the really good stuff from younger, sexier, hungrier creators that rocked my confidence and sense of ability a little, I don't feel it but I am a lot older than when I started!

"Have I run my course?"...

oh man! is that a dangerous self-fullfilling prophecy if you let it gain legs!

The "8 years" is counting from the van move-in date, setting off in 2018. But I actually bought amber in Oct. 2016! so this time next year I'll have owned this knackered old van a decade! 🤯 That was not a part of the plan!
But it was this fact that actually pulled me around and I began making this short/reel, whatever the f*** you call this new vertical shite! 😂
Pulling small bits of footage together from each and every video/event I have done took me back through my own vanlife journey and shown me times and events I had completely forgotten about. It also showed me what me, the dog and probably most importantly this old van have achieved over the years. It's older, it's not sexy but my god has it done some shit!

It's so easy to forget all this stuff when you are back to back to keep the content rolling, once one video is done you are just onto the next, not taking time to appreciate all of what went into it.
I guess this is my way of saying I'd fell into the same trap as so many others with the online space, starting to feel in competition with or inferior to others when that just is not the case, we are all on our own paths, making our own stories and sharing it with as many who want to tag along for the ride, that's all it is, the follower count and figures mean nothing, especially now 51% of the internet is just AI & bots anyway. 😑

"All we have left is our stories, so I'd better get back to telling mine."
so this 1:30 wrong way up (In my opinion) clip did more for me that probably anyone else 😅
But I hope you enjoy, and thanks to all of you who have "been here from the start" 😉 you will remember all this madness with me.

I'll have a new video out this week, and as such as it scares me, I shall have to setup a livestream with you all so we can catch up properly, discuss what's been going on and what's coming up in the near future.

All our best,
C.J & Lance

Love your storytelling and cinematography. I’d watch pretty much any adventure you choose to take. In any format. I just can’t access instagram since I will not support Meta properties. But any other format 🤣
