Escape From Vault Disney #108: "The Muppet Christmas Carol"

It's FINALLY done, and available to you, my beloved patrons, eighteen hours before I release it publicly! I didn't want to make you all settle for an almost-finished cut on this one, so here's the complete episode, exactly as it will be released publicly tomorrow!

I feel compelled to tell you all, however, that due to the fact that this episode was delayed a month by a severe (and severely stupid) technical fiasco that (mostly) wasn't my fault, I've decided to indulge in a bit of sneaky revisionist history. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but Libsyn allows podcast creators to retroactively "schedule" episodes for dates in the past, and on this one I intend to "schedule" it for mid-December 2022, so it'll appear on the episode list after Home Alone 2 but before Arendelle Yule Log, because that's the ideal order I want someone to listen to these episodes in if they're going through my backlog. Thus, I've edited this episode as though the technical glitch didn't even happen, with no reference to it whatsoever, and it came out in mid-December as planned. This means it ends with the same teaser for the Yule Log episode that I put in that brief "apology for the delay" minisode (which I intend to delete from Libsyn tomorrow). I also intend to slightly re-edit the Yule Log episode to add a new ending teasing next week's new episode, and that re-edit will also be released publicly tomorrow. Everybody got all that? Good! Thank you all, as always, for your very kind patience and indulgence.

This week, for our second of three special Christmas episodes of 2022, the randomizer goes all the way back to 1992 to pick the only cinematic adaptation of Charles Dickens' legendary holiday masterpiece to depict the timeless tome exactly as its opium-addled author intended: with a felt amphibian as Bob Cratchit, a felt swine as Emily Cratchit and the guy from Jaws: The Revenge as Ebenezer Scrooge. Also there's Paul Williams songs, ice skating penguins and a weird giant spider monster. It's by far the best Christmas movie we've ever covered on this podcast. Join Tony Goldmark, Kyle A. Carrozza, Nicholas Bogroff Ganssle and Renie Rivas as they put on colorful sweaters and go from door to door singing THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL!
