Creating A Seascape Hideaway

In this video, we'll create a seascape hideaway in Cinema 4D and Redshift, completely from scratch. We'll run through the whole build, from composition, to lighting and texturing, and finishing with adding the final touches in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

This was an exciting one to make and I hope it's full of lots of knowledge for you all.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask below or shoot me a message.

I hope you enjoy :)

Oh amazing, so glad you figured out the problem and I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Plenty more on the way

Ross Mason

Thanks for your quick answer Ross, indeed I've put a portal light and it was better! Also, the main reason I couldn't see any change: I hadn't a Redshift Tag on my camera! Btw, incredible tutorial, I can't wait to follow all of them!

Celia LOPEZ

Hi Celia! Lighting can definitely be a little bit of a fiddle for these interior shots. If you find increasing the GI doesn't help, I would try using a portal light and placing this in the window where your light is coming from. This will do the same thing and put more light into the darker areas. If you need me to explain better, feel free to message me on IG or Discord and I'll do my best to help :)

Hi, I have problem with lighting, the lighting I have following your tutorial is not at all the same than yours, for example Global illumination from the sun, on your tutorial you've tried to push to 2 and it bright strait away the gloabl lighitng of the scene; me if I put 2 nothing move even if I put 500 nothing change, it's like my light setting weren't enable. Anyone have an idea why/ could help me? Thanks !

It's such a time saver!

Hi Juana, sorry for the late reply! Before you export your assets from Bridge, go to C4D and to Redshift > Materials > Tools and then uncheck 'Use Node Materials for Presets'. Now when you export assets from Bridge, they should come with their textures. If you're still struggling to export, I would check that to make sure you're running the latest version of Bridge. Let me know if that helps :)

Ross Mason

Thank you Daniel! Really glad to hear you're enjoying these longer videos :)

Hey! Thank you for the help, but do you mean changing the export settings on Quixel Bridge? I can't find this setting there.. not sure what you mean.

Juana Martignone

Check when you are exporting from Quixel, the your mode for materials is Shader graph. After exporting yo convert materials to Nodes

Spoonci Nata

Really useful stuff Ross thank you! My Quixel Bridge is failing to export to C4D (I'm using version 2023.2.0 and the latest Redshift Update). I tried every hack I could find online and nothing is working. Did you have this same issue? If so, how did you figure it out? Thanks :)

Split islands is gonna be a BIG help
