Hi everyone,
I hope you're well!
I've been asked a lot recently about my journey as a 3D artist, advice I would give, freelancing tips etc. So I was thinking about doing a Q&A this month (alongside the other content I have planned), and I wanted to gauge if that is something you'd all be interested in?
If so, I would love it if you could leave some questions down below and I will collect them and use them in a Q&A video. Or if you'd rather message me privately that is totally fine as well.
I'll leave this post up for a week and if there's a good amount of questions I'll turn it into a video.
Many thanks,
Ross

In this video, we look at modelling and texturing this vase in Cinema 4D and Redshift!
We will create a completely procedural model and material, diving into modelling techniques, and for the material, maxon noises, vertex maps and other material parameters.
Excited to share this one with you - I hope you enjoy!
Let me know in the comments if you want to see more of this type of video :)

In this months video, we will look at modelling and texturing this vase, with a bit of a 'freestyle' approach to texturing, so that you can see my thought process behind texturing, as well as how I overcome hurdles along the way.
Hope to see you there!

In this video, we will be looking at the new particles system and how we can use it to create this dripping wax effect.
This was really fun to dive into and I hope you will think the same.
I'd love to hear below what everyone thinks of the new particle system. There's still so much to explore and I've been really enjoying playing with it.
I hope you enjoy the video! :)

In the final part of this tutorial series, we finish off the label and lid texturing for our wine bottle, and then create a scene to show it off in all its glory.
We will go over more texturing, lighting, some redshift post-fx, and of course, rendering!
I hope you have all really enjoyed this series - I'd love to know which part you found the most valuable in this series. Let me know in the comments below!
Many thanks,
Ross

In this months video, we will finish off the wine bottle we started last month!
We will complete the texturing for the label and lid, and then move onto creating a scene with our bottle, from start to finish. We will cover lighting, texturing, redshift post-fx and finish with rendering out our scene.
I hope to see you there!
Many thanks,
Ross

In the 3rd part of this tutorial, we look at the rest of the process - Lighting, Texturing and Rendering. We will create displacement maps in Photoshop to add details to our bottle, and then spend some time crafting realistic glass materials as well as finishing off with a couple angles and lighting setups.
I hope you enjoy!

In Part 2 of this Bottle workflow, we dive into RizomUV to look at UV Unwrapping our bottle in order for us to add details later on in the process.
Make sure to watch all the way through as I added an extra part near the end to help you achieve even cleaner UVs.
Hope you enjoy!

Welcome to the first part of this Complete Bottle Workflow, where we will look at modelling our wine bottle in Cinema 4D.
We start off by finding our reference and using this as a guide to create our bottle accurately, and along the way utilise all the tools, tips and tricks I use in my day-to-day work to model these types of products. This should give you a great foundation for modelling most types of bottles.
I hope you enjoy, and as always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Many thanks,
Ross :)

The final (and refined) C4D file from the recent Toothpaste Animation tutorial series with Max:
https://www.dropbox.com/t/pGhkX2aOOozOULak
This has some refined lighting and texturing, so it's worth checking out even if you have followed along with the tutorial! It's a pretty big file size because of the alembic (sorry!), but I assure you it's worth the wait.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you enjoy the file!
Many thanks,

Welcome to the final part of this tutorial with my good friend Max Schwugier. In this video, we will look at bringing in the asset Max made in Houdini, and adding camera movements, lighting, texturing, and finally, rendering the animation.
This is quite a long one, which is packed full of useful information, so I hope you will enjoy!
As always, if there's any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

In this months video, I have teamed up with Max Schwugier to show you how to create a toothpaste animation using Cinema 4D, Houdini and Redshift.
In part 1 & 2, Max will show you how to animate the toothpaste bottle rolling up, and then simulate the toothpaste, and in my part I will bring the alembic into Cinema 4D where we will create camera animations and light and texture the scene.
This is a really exciting one, and I hope you will find it insightful - this is the first time Houdini is being featured on this page so I'd love to hear your thoughts on if you'd like more in the future.
See you there!

Hey all,
As you may know, I mentioned back in my October tutorial, 'Creating a Front-flash Aesthetic' that I was working with BoModels to remaster their cocktails for Cinema 4D and Redshift. Well, after months of work and a lot of back and forth to make sure they are as good as possible, I am glad to say that it is finally available!
To celebrate this, BoModels have supplied me with a discount code for 25% off, which you can use on any of the C4D Cocktail Culture products. Just use discount code 'ROSSMASON' at checkout (the final page where you pay) and it will apply the discount.
https://bomodels.es/collections/cocktail-culture-c4d
Discount code valid until 23:59 Friday (CET).
Really stoked to share these and I hope you will enjoy them just as much as I do. I also haven't forgotten about the cocktail scene, which I will have uploaded in the next couple days and will contain 1 or 2 of the cocktail models so you can test them out!
Many thanks,
Ross :)

Hey everyone!
In this months video, we are partnering up with BoModels to create this scene using their cocktail models, which I have recently remastered for C4D & Redshift (releasing very soon)! We look at references and strive to create a vintage, front-flash aesthetic, covering the whole process from start to finish.
I'm just finishing up preparing the project file, which I will release in the following days for you guys to download and look through. Also, stay tuned for the release of this cocktail collection for Cinema 4D and Redshift!
Hope you enjoy. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)
Many thanks,
Ross

In this months video ft BOModels, we will create this cocktail scene from scratch, with a focus on creating a front-flash aesthetic, commonly scene in film photography.
Really stoked to share this with you and to be partnering with BoModels to bring their Cocktail Culture Collection to Cinema 4D & Redshift. More info on that in the video.
Hope to see you there :)

In this video, I talk through the process of making an X-Ray shader in C4D & Redshift. We then take it into Photoshop to enhance that X-Ray look and learn some abstract post-production techniques.
This was a really fun one to make - I hope you enjoy!

This was a great video to make, and was a reminder to myself to experiment more and have fun!
Hope you enjoy :)

Hey everyone,
I hope you're all doing well!
As you may have noticed, there hasn't been a video this month. I had a video recorded, but I felt like it didn't add any extra value to the page and didn't cover any new ground, and I ultimately made the decision to scrap it. This is the first time I've missed a month in over a year of posting to this page, so I'm annoyed at not only letting myself down, but more importantly, you guys. For that, I am very sorry.
I try to prioritise quality over quantity, and in this case, it has been a pitfall. That being said, I will make up for it, don't you worry - I've got a couple videos which I've had planned for some time and should be ready for next month, which I'm super stoked to share with all of you. Expect some collaborations, which I'm hoping will make for some interesting content and also bring some fresh ideas and concepts to the page.
I think this may (or may not) be a good time to also take feedback on the page so far - what you are enjoying, what you think is missing, and if there's any videos which you'd like to see in particular! Feel free to drop a comment below or shoot me a message if you have any thoughts.
I'm sorry again, and I hope I will see you all in September. Serious heat incoming - stay tuned.
Catch you all soon :)
