Wow I gotta be honest I wasn’t the biggest fan of Jerick cuz of that comment he made but kept watching you guys cuz of Nick and Keith but to hear him apologize for that comment makes me glad that stuck with you guys lol I’m glad that they’re finally coming around and appreciating BTS. It’s very interesting how the song that made them get more interested is no more dream cuz it’s probably my least favorite song from them I would watch their live performance for it cuz it’s fire but I don’t look for it in my playlist. Thank you for another great reaction

I Very much agree! That is one thing that I love about them is how much say they have in a lot. We also have to remember that they were young too Jimin very much dressed like this sometimes if you watch behind the scenes. I also feel the stress he felt with was from society and the comments of others, not his label. I see myself in him a lot and know how it feels to be young and in a society that is very judgmental and has a lot of beauty standards and expectation on us.

Loved the debate. Food for thought though ... the concept of "authentic" is pretty loaded with preconceptions. BTS, even during their pre-debut videos, were heavily involved in writing and producing their music. That's exactly what set them apart from many other Kpop acts actually. The "formula" never really completely applied to them; they were given a lot of creative freedom ... and they used it, even going so far as to write some pretty subversive songs.
Here's a great quote on this:
"Obsessed with a specific, static and fairly outdated image of authenticity, however -- generally a lone singer-songwriter strumming a guitar -- it is near impossible for many Westerners to imagine that genuine, self-composed music could come out of a choreographed Korean group.
...
This is not cheap, soulless out-sourcing but comprehensive creative execution, just as a composer may write a whole symphony but ultimately only be able to play one instrument at a time -- he needs an orchestra for that. The direction, content and spirit of the art, however, ultimately belongs to Bangtan -- meetings are held between members and their close production team, discussing the issues of the day and the emotional currents that presently occupy the members' personal lives, in order to corral resources and determine the destination of the orchestration."
This is from an article called "The Curious Case Of BTS: How Journalism Mistakes Production For Manufacture." Definitely worth a read. Here's the link: https://medium.com/@selizabethcraven/the-curious-case-of-bts-how-journalism-mistakes-production-for-manufacture-73721c270088

Very interesting discussion again and good to know that Jerrick doesn't think anymore that BTS is overrated lol. Love to see how BTS can grow on people. I always love how honest you guys are when reacting to BTS.

Always enjoy your conversations and debates. The BTS today is the most authentic. Of course they needed their label's guidance in the beginning because the members didn't know who they were yet and were still growing up. This goes for all other groups as well. And thanks Jerrick for the apology 🤣

They did have songs on sound cloud and YouTube that they put out for army before their debut they documented everything even covers. Everything they posted and even now they have a lot of say in. That is one of the reasons why I love them so much because they are very relatable and authentic, and you really do get to know and love them. You do also see their growth in personal style and how they are now compared to back then lol They found what styles really work for them and I can relate, because how I used to dress and act is not how I am now. I am a lot happier than I ever was once I found myself. I see that a lot with our Chim Chim lol

Idols suffer a lot from fat shaming, fans are mean Jimin was just a kid back then and they keep on sending him hate messages, same for RM and Jhope (named ugly on variety shows) .A lot of the directives they received were in reaction to fans comments.
“Young wild and free cover” was released before “No more dream”. They started by putting videos online like vlogs and covering songs like “ Swimming pools” by Kendrick Lamar before releasing their own. The manager decided to documente everything from the beginning (very very smart move!).
Thanks for your reactions I can’t wait to see you react to some Run BTS ( jimin and V are, in my opinion, the petty ones haha).
