It’s a British thing I would imagine, though I’ve come to regard whichever time of day you have your main, cooked meal - THAT is “dinner”, essentially.

I’m sure it will tick many boxes for you, The rural capital of food, steeped in history (It’s everywhere), home of the pork pie (Try Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe). There’s a museum and a church in the centre, a 2 minute walk from the station. From Wikipedia: St Mary's Church is the largest and "stateliest" parish church in Leicestershire,[3] with visible remains dating mainly from the 13th-15th centuries. The stonework in the lowest section of the tower, which has Norman windows, dates from 1170, although there were certainly one or more Anglo-Saxon churches on this site before the Norman one. It is built on a plan more usual for cathedrals and the 100-foot tower dominates the town, and is a rare example of a parish church with aisled transepts (one of only five in the country) a feature usually found only in a cathedral. And to top it all my best mate owns the largest hotel in town (The Harboro Hotel), he will do a good deal 😁.

When you're in Leicester for the Space Centre trip (which is great fun!), you could visit the Richard III visitor centre... don't know if you were aware of the whole story of his remains being discovered in a Leicester car-park. I never worry too much about a Best Before date I use my own judgement. I'm pretty sure Percy Pig is a boy. I'm wondering did he taste like pork? It's the first time I've heard the jam in a sponge referred to as a pig's blood. I really enjoyed that.
