I couldn't have put that better myself! Spot on, Jim!

Steven Parkes

You have 100,000 subscribers, 95% of which don’t care where you live. The 5% that do care are the 5% idiots. Keep it that way, why pander to them?

Jim McCarthy

Lots of computer chairs out there to choose from, but the cheap ones don't last. Look for a easy to adjust height mechanism. I don't like arms on mine so there's more freedom to move while sitting. Sitting in one position too long is unhealthy, so stand up every 20 minutes for a stretch. A good chair will keep you efficient and alert, so this is not a chair for tv watching! ps- Keep your location a friendly mystery.

William Seabrook

Been on vaca, and your vid (honestly✋🏻) was my 1st YouTube click since back, but I'll weigh in late anyway... NOOO!! Do. Not. Give. Out. Your. Location. 😮 Absolutely nothing wrong with Kent as your locale. Do you really need the anxiety in your life? Haters gotta hate. Otherwise, enjoyed your video, and, enjoy your new home Alanna 💛

James Alberg

You've probably already made up your mind now, after all these bits of advice, but I would definitely advise you NOT to be AT ALL specific about where you live! Definitely not the town! Just ‘Kent’ will do nicely - and I wouldn't even say north, east, west or south, either! We don't need to know - honestly! I've never been there anyway, so I would never recognise any areas from your 'out-and-about' footage - and neither, I suspect, would many other people who weren’t particularly familiar with the area. When you do film ‘out and about’, you don’t need to say whether you’re in your immediate neighbourhood or wandering further afield. Keep us all guessing! I, for one, would feel a bit uncomfortable knowing too precisely where you’re living, as it happens! As has been said before, there are too many nutters on the internet and you MUST protect yourself at all costs! Once it’s out there, there’s no taking it back - so please keep that information private at all costs! That’s my advice from an old codger, anyway!

Steven Parkes

You could do a click bait vid of where you use to live. Could even show the street and local area (providing you don't mind driving all the way back there). I agree with the other comments, to not give out your current town's name etc. Too many numpts out there! Btw I tried out your chili avocado egg concoction, and its sooo good. Greater than the sum of its parts.

Peter

Don't tell 'em! Reading through the comments, I agree with the vast majority. As I live in The Garden of England (Just!) I hope I'd guess the area, but I certainly wouldn't bother me if I couldn't! As Wayne says, we know where you live! Good luck with the quest for a computer chair! If you don't find one, use one of the councils stylish bins, upside down, naturally!

Stuart Hamilton

Ahh, the problems of celebrities ;) - just kidding - obviously, it's best to not share the exact location - better safe than sorry. Personally, I would still use a somewhat clickbait-y title ('A+N chose to live in..') and then - rather than giving away the location - talk about how to choose a place where to live in the UK or the Kent region (factors could be like public transport, cost, amenities, jobs, distance to the sea, leisure activities, history, etc.) - maybe from an expats perspective or even if a Brit decides to move to the Kent region..

Martin Dobler

For your own peace of mind it may not be a good idea to reveal your location. Some weirdos out there can be obsessive and resourceful and might see obtaining your address as a challenge and a puzzle to be solved.

John Knight

I always know where you live, in my computer.

Wayne Thurston

I think it's enough to say you're from Kent. Unless you have specific reasons (like, you want more tourism for your part of the town) you don't need to spell it out.

Wayne Yu

Tell people you live in Snodland, go for the sympathy vote!

Andy McGarty

🤣🤣🤣

Will

I wouldn't give your location out. If you are filming near where you live, then maybe, put red herrings in the mix. For instance put a canal boat, unless of course you live by a canal or a railway line. Don't let people know that Don't need to. Say that you can smell the tar from the tar works. Have you learned nothing from murder friends.

Martin Sellman

I would keep your location to no more info than you're in Kent. Even nice folks can overstep boundaries sometimes.

Nansi Alexander

I have generalised anxiety so I’m too cautious however I would never reveal my location. Yes some people will work it out but not all and hopefully you will have a long happy time in your new home and people can already contact you whether you want them to or not. To me it’s not worth it, particularly since if you do a click bait video there’s going to be a minority of the viewers who are angry when they don’t get your full name and address which may prompt a debate in the comments about where you live. Thank you for taking the time to make a video when you have a lot in your life to occupy you. I hope you now have a computer chair and some bins. I hope you and your family stay well

Sarah Hogg

I wouldn't be able to figure it out because I'm not from England and don't know Kent and it's landmarks. But you always just gotta go with what your most comfortable with. You could try doing it some at first and seeing what the response is like and hold the clickbaity video for the future. How are you liking the area and your new surroundings so far?

Brett Carruthers

Your comfortability with that information being out there is the most important . If you have any feeling that those 5% you refer to knowing this information makes you uneasy , then we 95% will understand your decision . Heck , since we never knew your old location , give that as the location and let those 5% hosers run themselves ragged .

john massey

I personally wouldn't share that, if people work it out fine but no need to share it. As has been said do a few neighbouring towns so no one knows exactly where you are just the general area.

Tazz1669

Happy Saturday! Can't believe that is another month done. Your new apartment is coming together nicely and your new town looks lovely. Guess your painter is a ghost, just appearing and disappearing but hope he gives the key back. You should definitely do a video on your trials with the former landlord once everything is resolved. As for whether you should mention which town I would lean against it unless you are 100% comfortable with mentioning it or you can keep it vague. Thanks again for another nice video

Andrew8468

You should do what you feel comfortable with. If you are unsure about saying which town you live in, it's a strong sign that you should not do it in my eyes. Consider how safe you feel in your new home - is it just one locked door off the street, or behind two locked doors and 3 floors up situation? Not asking for a reply at all, but that stuff matters I think. I would love outdoors content that you don't need to stress about and see more of your new area, but you need to be able to feel safe in your home. Maybe you could share from your area, but ask that people who recognize where it is to keep it to themselves? That's just what I think, and you can spend time thinking about this too :) And yay for almost summer!

Maria G.

I would maybe just let people figure it out on their own and if they're like "Hey! Are you in __________?!" and then if you feel safe/comfortable confirming that, then go ahead. Nothing wrong with showing off your new city but, you don't necessarily have to verbally confirm it. Looks like everything is settling nicely :)

jillian b

Your lunch looked yummy 😋 Sorry to hear you have to deal with so many weirdos, and for that reason I'd keep your location vague. Kent is good enough, although one only needs to find out which cheese shops have sold out to know that you must be nearby. 😉

Stephen Wadkin

Nice video, i enjoy the sit down and chat ones. It was good to see you out and about enjoying the sun too. My daughter ended up going to small claims court to get her deposit back so i hope it doesn't get that bad for you. Landlords and their agents can be a nightmare but hopefully your new one sound ok so far. As for naming where you live, if it was me, i wouldn't. I would find the thought of people knowing that would be in the back of my head whenever i was out and it could make you anxious to wonder if you were going to be 'found'. Enjoy the good weather over the next few days.

Adam Clark

David O mentioned checking the inventory carefully, I found in the past that taking photos of points mentioned in one on moving in, they can be compared with the same ones on moving out if any dispute with Landlord. I did this before digital photography. Fair wear and tear is accepted but that phrase is as flexible as how long is a piece of string. I have worked out where a video has been shot by looking up the phone number of any business or shopfront caught on camera. Phone books are online these days and the area code can be looked up easily if not known to one. Being ex directory does not stop scam phone calls as the scammers use random number generator software.

Tony S

I agree with Malcolm, I know the chances are slim but from what you said about some of the messages you receive (shocked) then I'd be a bit wary. Great video nice to see some sunshine finally.

Mark J

That's very true!!

Adventures and Naps

omg send me all your chairs!! 😂

Adventures and Naps

Computer chairs, you know the PO box, go go go. Just joking.

chris

Great video today, nice to hear the flat is all coming together. With regard to the "Where I live" thing, as others have said, I would be careful, once it's out there, that information can't be taken back. Also, don't forget that 5% of your YouTube subs, is potentially 5000 weirdos out there.

Will

Seems that your old landlord took Property Management personally not professionally. With regards to letting Patreon Members know your location it never hurts to air on the side of caution...

Steve Mikre

That's very true!

Adventures and Naps

Thanks Malcolm, that's a great idea!

I had a much better experience as a lodger in a family's house than I did renting from an agency. Also, renting direct from the property owner, with no agency is better as you can build a rapport and trust. The first time I rented a property, there was a filing cabinet left by the previous tenant that was not on the inventory. When I moved out, naturally, I left it there. They could have tried to stiff me for that, as I had signed the inventory. I guess some point about going over the inventory with a fine tooth comb might be worth mentioning. As for doxxing, I think that you should probably continue to keep your guard up but I understand that 'local content' can be quite a rich seam.

David O

Morning Alanna. You have to feel right about filming around your town / city..A vid about where A&N lives would get a lot of views but are you 100 % comfortable about it ..Over time with the channel getting more popular you will bump in to folks that have watched you on YT.. A lot of people will just say " Oh that's that girl off that YT channel " and that would be that ..But if anyone comes running up .Going Oh Alanna this and Oh Alanna that ..How would you handle that ..The UK is a very safe place but the perception is there's a mugger around every corner. .Most people would not come up to folks they have seen on TV YT etc .You should able to go about your day without any hassle. .We have interaction with YT channels but we don't know these people .Your personal life is very important and precious and should be guarded. If your first thought at the front door is I hope I don't bump in to someone that's knows me . Your not ready. .But at the end of the day it will happen some day ..You still have to live your life with the Butler. After the last year you can't stay indoors forever. .I have probably go on far to long . At the end of the day why should other people stop you from doing what you love ..

Mark Walsh

Lovely video , I to cannot judge serving sizes. As to naming where you live I would not , your anxiety may not handle it just stick to Kent. Yes go out and video around but for anybody it could be your local town and you live 10 miles away unless you specifically say this is the town I live in.

Peter Matthews

Happy Saturday Alanna, looks as though Summer might be arriving, and the little outdoor taster looked lovely. Re the dilemma on revealing the general location where you're at, I think you're right that the risk is minimal but as an easier 'lead-in' how about filming some outdoor content that is near to your town but maybe not actually there - Kent's a lovely county so there'll be lovely and interesting stuff that is close but not too obvious. If that feels comfortable then maybe go for more detail?

Malcolm Lawrence

This video was so nice! Thank you so much for making it! Hope you have a really nice weekend!

Aaron Conway

Glad the new place is slowly coming together… def do a vid dishing all the drama! Telling people the town you’re in is a tricky one, only do what you’re comfortable with, I’m sure it goes without saying but don’t film anywhere too near your flat!! & if you can put cameras up do it, just in case!!! Enjoy the sunshine (finally some sun)! ☀️

Gem

Hi, Alanna, great video. I will put more detailed comments on Discord, but I really enjoyed that.
