Update!
Added 2025-08-06 18:19:47 +0000 UTCHi everyone! I wanted to fill you all in on what I've currently got in the works!
I'm sorry its been so long since I've provided some more content. I so dearly appreciate having you guys here!
SO, ANYWAYS, I have been working like a maniac on the "Why The Beatles Broke Up" series. What I thought would be an ambitious 3-4 part series is looking like it is going to be an 8 part series... each part coming to about 40-60 minutes. I probably have another week or so of writing before I begin recording/editing. I really want to have the full scope of the project and story together before I begin making the videos, just to make sure I have everything right and well connected.
So if you can't tell by the size, these videos are not just going to cover 1968-1971, but more like 1946-1971. While my other videos are usually much more focused on the fun stuff, the shenanigans and the music, these will get a whole lot darker. Even at The Beatles peak, so much was going wrong behind the scenes.
You will definitely hear a lot of information you've heard before, but there will be significantly more new information than old. Here's a list of things I'm covering for the first time, or in significantly more detail than ever before.
The Beatles childhoods, especially John, and their dynamics when they were first getting to know each other
Lots of Brian Epstein stuff, starting with some of his early business failings, then progressing into his severe mental health decline, drug issues, and eventual death.
Really, just more on The Beatles being pricks in general, to their partners and to each other. Obviously, I love this group, but part of that love is getting into the grimier stuff
Far more exploration into interpersonal relationships
More about Yoko
The horrible mess that was Apple Corp
My very first video was on the White Album, and seeing how turbulent and important that stretch of time was, I have basically re-covered the entire period. But this time, rather than focusing on the intricacies of the musical recordings, it is almost solely about the tensions, the resentments, the arguments.
We will finally cover the Let It Be period, and Allen Klein's introduction. There will be a pretty deep analysis of Get Back (the documentary) talking about what it reveals, and what it chose not to show, or what it edited misleadingly.
Then of course, the dissolution itself. The full Allen Klein saga, the breakup.
Finally, the fallout. The legal issues, the end of John and Paul's relationship.
Suffice to say, it is going to be a beast! You'll get a tasting of all of The Beatles eras, and a look behind the scenes, into the topics that are rarely discussed.
After that, we'll probably pick back up with the Making of A Hard Day's Night, back into the more traditional format.
much love,
Dakota
