Dinner & A Movie #5: Zombieland

Dinner & A Movie #5: Zombieland

Wholeheartedly agree with Night of the Living Dead. An instant classic amongst horror films and yes, the beginning of the modern zombie flick. As far as Woody Harrelson, I'd recommend "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri". A powerful movie but with amazing direction (same Director as The Banshees of Inisherin) Frances McDormand won Best Actress for this and both Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson were nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Also, an appearance by a very familiar actor from GOT. Oh and as you can see, Patreon has resolved the issue. I can see everything again 😊🎬

John Colson

Third! The first is weeeeell worth your time, however.

As far as true modern "zombie" movies... I second "Night of the Living Dead".

Michael Labs

Second.

This is a fun movie; enjoyed watching along with you. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Night of the Living Dead from '68 is considered the first modern/as we know it today zombie movie. It's definitely worth watching.

You may have missed the detail that 'the girl at the beginning' was rightly identified as Amber Heard. The one who became a zombie. Actually, wow. I didn't recognize her either.

True Detective season 1 (of 3) is the only one worthy of your time and is a limited series of 8 episodes.... so a significant commitment but not huge.

My favorite Bill Murray films beyond Ghostbusters would probably be the iconic Groundhog Day and What About Bob. As you stated: comedy hits differently for different people... which is why I, too have never watched Dumb and Dumber. That said, ask someone who knows you well if THEY think either of these would strike your funny bone.

It seems that somewhere along the line you may have gotten your wires crossed....Little Rock was played by Abigail Breslin and not Amber Heard. Prior to Zombieland she was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of the title character in "Little Miss Sunshine". Since you seemed to love Zombieland so much definitely check out Zombieland: Double Tap made 10 years later in 2019. It was suggested they do a sequel every 10 years. Woody Harrelson WAS in the Hunger Games movies but started out as the bartender in Cheers for 9 years. He, along with Jeese were in the two Now You See Me movies (light, fun and interesting.... not sure if reaction worthy... get other opinions) and the ONE thing I'd fully recommend would be True Detective along with Matthew McConaughey. It was nominated for 12 Emmys and won 5.

Loved this movie, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Bill Murray, Jesse Eisenberg. Great cast. Crazy and funny. 👍
