Where the WWE library could end up
Added 2025-08-15 23:59:08 +0000 UTCWWE continues to land broadcast deals, and spread their wings with their television rights. This leaves many asking what will happen with their library.
Upon launching the WWE Network in 2014, the robust WWE, WCW and ECW library were a big point of attraction for the service. WWE had spent years acquiring video libraries for use on various products. Those that we spoke to in the company over the years have said the live content was actually by far the most watched content, which is why it was much easier to license.
There hasn’t been a definitive announcement as to whether or not the library would get licensed out after the peacock deal, but we have spoken to people in WWE with theories. Most believe that WWE will utilize their relationship with Google/Youtube and utilize that for the library content. One source that we spoke to thinks that will allow them to cultivate new fans via archived content, and if they get a too good to be true offer for the library, they can always take that.
WWE already has almost every show they’ve ever uploaded on a backend for copyright recognition purposes. Everything from current episodes of Raw to Shotgun Saturday Night in the 90s.

That really sucks for someone like me who has been watching the Ruthless Aggression era stuff. Even now it’s hard to watch with all the Raws not even on Netflix. I can only imagine trying to sift through YouTube to find a specific smackdown or raw.
