Answers: Abyss, Omega Angle, Benched Contracts

Sean, kind of a wrestling biz question but when wrestlers are on the shelf due to no storyline as many have been. Are they still paid by their promotion. With aew and wwe it seems like more wrestlers vs storylines

Yes. They're still paid. Unless they're on an exclusive paid per appearance contract (sometimes TNA does that), they're paid. There were situations in years ago with Larry D and Acey Romero where they got out of their TNA deals because they weren't making money while benched. But WWE and AEW wrestlers do get paid during that period.

As someone whose wife, and two friends have lost multiple feet of their colons to diverticulitis…I have to know, has anyone pushed back on the absurdly of this Omega angle? I’ve watched wrestling for 45+ yrs and have seen the birth of a hand, necrophilia, and a host of stupidity, but THIS takes the cake. Especially for these two wrestlers. They don’t need this.

I would imagine over 99 percent of the wrestling base is not familiar with the ins and outs of diverticulitis. I would wager that the significant percentage only know it as the illness Brock Lesnar and Kenny Omega had, much less know how it can or can't be exploited in wrestling. The puking up blood was corny, but I certainly wouldn't compare it to those angles.

With Abyss coming to the WWE 2K games very soon, any chance TNA could end up making new merch for Abyss? I've been trying to find a replica of his OG mask or his 08-13 mask for ages, but to no avail. Even people on Etsy don't make them like they have WWE masks.

If Abyss has a deal with WWE/2K, then he might also have a Legends deal with the company. That would put the ball in WWE's court to produce merch. He never wrestled there, but they could still produce figures, shirts and the like assuming that deal is in place.
