It's been a while since I drew them!

I wanted to make an example for a new commission type which is a bit simpler for me to draw, so that people can get couple artwork without having to spend as much! I also want to practice my sketching more so that I can spend less time working on pieces that are intended to be quick.

Also, I needed to get back to creating more original stuff for you all (and for myself)! So please enjoy some gay demons 🙏

This month's winning prompt was for a bee girl with a ""big stinger""! I ended up doing a few different pieces for her, because I think she came out really cute, and I also wanted to make some nice art to end out the year!  

Neela is a cerulean carpenter bee, which is the first bee species I saw when I was trying to pick what to base her off of. I stopped looking after that, because just look at them 🥺 (cw: real bug) I think bees are adorable, so I really wanted to make a unique character based off it!!
She's a nudist for now because I didn't have time to design her outfit, but I'd like to do that next! (Also FYI she's actually the size of a normal human. I just wanted to draw her on some plumeria flowers for fun)

Hi everyone, here's one of those periodic personal life / work status updates!
In case you don't want to read the personal stuff, here is a quick summary:
I've had some mental and physical health issues the past few weeks & so has my spouse, but we're both doing a bit better.  I've still been drawing, but posting less because of those personal issues + having a lot of projects still in progress. Thank you for supporting me during this time and waiting patiently for updates! I'll be sharing more stuff soon. 💜


To go into a little bit more detail:
My spouse recently had some intense pain that led them to go to urgent care, but turned out to be just a really bad and long-lasting muscle spasm in their lower back. They're doing better now, but it took about a week for them to recover, and I kinda strained the hell out of my back while helping them out. 😭 (I'm also OK, but I have a chronic pain condition, so when it flares up it can be debilitating at times.)

When my pain's really bad I tend to focus on just getting by day-by-day, and tend to withdraw socially, so I haven't been posting much anywhere. I apologize for not being around on Discord and/or being slow to reply about work or other things. I'm going to be going through and catching up on everything, but also feel free to reach out to me again.

The good news is that I've been working on a lot of fun projects that I hope to finish soon, and I'll also be opening "regular" commissions soon. (Might not be before the end of the year, but I'm aiming for ASAP!)
I'm also working on improving my site (kinda slowly because I'm bad at it tbh) to be a better hub for my artwork and things like that, so I'll let you all know when it's looking decent!

Some new character refs~

I made updated references for both Sinn (he/him, the vampire character) and Sara (she/her, the squirrel)! I actually made this reference sheet for Sara months ago and forgot to share it.  I’m planning on going through all my characters and gradually making reference sheets for them! It’s useful for keeping their designs consistent - plus I like making outfits for everyone.

I will probably add some details to these pages later, so I’ll share them if I do!

The original prompt was for a transfem, petite redheaded gal x a bigger, blonde trans guy (and for them both to be wearing lace). I want to do another sketch featuring these two if I have time, because I had a few ideas for the prompt, but I ended up with this less explicit pose because I liked how it looked 🥺

The other character design is finished now, finally! This character really is just a bunch of design tropes that I like all smushed together. As with the princess character, I had a lot of fun designing him! I felt so tempted to keep him, tbh, but he's meant to be an adoptable character in the first place...

about Patreon & alternatives!

I wanted to put up a post today considering that Patreon just rolled out its rebranding/redesign, and I saw that some creators were seeing people leaving because of the site changes.
I totally understand if people want to stop pledging for any reason - but if the issue is just the platform, but you'd still like to keep it going a different way, I do have a backup in the form of our Discord server. It's possible for me to just set up a "recurring subscription" using Stripe, and then grant you access to the patron-only parts of the server so you still see all the art I post! If you want to do that instead, you can reach out to me on Discord.

So far I haven't had a chance to see all of the changes, but my Patreon isn't going anywhere right now! I will still be working to improve it and offer more stuff to patrons as often as I can. 💜

For September's bonus illustration, the winning prompt was for a transhet couple (a redheaded trans woman and a blonde trans man). I had drawn some characters who kind of matched the description before, but I wanted to redesign them and turn them into adoptables!

For the lady, I went with a princess and ribbon theme. She's not actually a catgirl, but she does resemble one... I also gave her a few portraits to provide some extra personality, and I'm really happy with how she turned out! I hope you all like her, and I hope you look forward to her partner's design and the illustration with them together! (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

EDIT: This character has been adopted by Akibastranger (and is now named Rosemarie!)

I'll be working on the design for the second character tomorrow, so look forward to him soon! 💖

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be late on the September bonus illustration because I'm still in the process of designing the characters for the prompt. I will be posting them up as adoptables like I've done in the past, so I hope one of you falls in love with them and decides to take them!
I planned on getting them finished today, but I ended up feeling sick from a COVID booster vaccine that I got on Friday (I always get a little sick when I get a booster, but this one had hands)... I'll probably be mostly over it by tomorrow, though.

a magical girl outfit for Sara

A friend of mine pledged to the new Gold tier to support my original work, and just told me to draw one of my babies, so I decided to just go with whatever inspiration struck me!  
I have been watching Cardcaptor Sakura again recently, and remembering how much I adored CLAMP's art style for CCS, the manga illustrations in particular. As a kid, I copied the style so much, and I always dreamed of being able to draw like that. I wanted to take that inspiration and draw more things in a similar style to the one that inspired me so much back in the day! So I designed a new outfit for my character Sara that is loosely inspired by the kind of outfits Sakura would wear.   

Pink and ruffles and fluff and ribbons just makes me so happy. 🥺 I think it's a lot more saturated and fairy kei-ish than many of the CCS outfits, but I really enjoyed making this and I definitely want to do more 💜 If you'd like to see more characters in this style, let me know! I'd love to hear what you all think.
