or disgusting unwashed masses if you're watching the public version of this,
Someone asked a question a long time ago on the discord AMA and wanted to know how exactly I did the Rimworld series intros, so I pulled up the final uncorrupted premiere file and break down track by track what went into the opening animation. It doesn't really get too technical, so hopefully this should be easy enough for everyone to follow!
If you'd like to see anymore of these types of videos in the future then leave me a message and I'll be sure to throw one together whenever I can find a few minutes spare.
I have also finally found a bit of time to continue working on the Betavengers mod and series. As I've mentioned before, the goal is to have a fun mod released, that I happen to make a series on, rather than making a mod that supplements a YouTube series - I want you guys to have as much fun playing it as I do on the same grounds as I do.
Enjoy this, and I hope you enjoy the new series!
As always your support is paramount to keeping the channel going and powering these overambitious crossover projects that are sure to end up breaking horribly halfway through.

Sam Mr Streamer Roll1D2Games Youtube Person of the Year 2021*
For the month of July I present to you the Patrons of the month of July - those who have saved us from the depths of despair that is Youtube advertisers.
If you want me to make adjustments, or if you're missing entirely from the list, please let me know and I will make adjustments ASAP. There is a good chance one or two names might have been missed as I had over 200 to juggle this month. Don't worry if you have been missed, I have all of the extra names not included in the public list ready to be transferred!

I think it's probably worth me saying that I do upload most days to a second channel for long form content, we're currently playing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, but there's a decent backlog of all sorts of games, with a good few Dark Souls series on there.
The reason I bring this up is because I've had a couple of patrons in the discord surprised to find out it exists - my bad seeing as I don't really advertise it, but I figured a little advertising here wouldn't hurt.
We're also planning on doing a structured podcast style thing on a second-second channel that a couple of you might be aware of. This channel is completely unaffiliated and unaffected by Roll1D2Games, those will be available here for those of you interested in it. We're hoping to get a first episode out very soon, stay tuned!
-
As always, your continued support is much appreciated - especially to those of you who have continued support since the fire that was the last month of content with the house move and events surrounding it.
Hopefully when my graphics card is returned to me nice and fixed we can get back to the bonus series!
Tales of your misdeeds are told from Robodaddy to Dank Stank,
Last time I checked, the name 'divine comedy' was already in use, which is a bit of a shame considering I couldn't think of a more appropriate combination of two words to describe the past month; a close second being "big fuck". I thought I had made it abundantly clear personally, but given that daily I am still inundated with questions along the lines of "Where is the CK2 series?", "Where is Rimworld?" maybe it's best to broach the topic fairly early for those of you living in Patrick Star's basement - I've been moving house.
Perhaps calling it moving house is a little bit generous. At this point, it's devolved into me moving the universe around me out of pure hatred and frustration at landlords and letting agencies who were only put on this here godly earth to torment me, plucked fresh from the bowels of hell itself. Divine Comedy would be a bit more appropriate in hindsight.
Anyway, I'll start from the top and work forward to yesterday where things truly peaked.

Firstly, there's a small matter of an economy crushing global pandemic, which might be safe to assume was sent only to spite me at this stage, given the universe's will to separate me from anywhere with a functioning roof. Thanks to COVID we weren't allowed to view any houses at all, this was back in April-May time when the virus was in full swing, slide, and roundabout.
No viewings meant fewer contracts being signed, fewer contracts meant fewer agencies open to handle them, which meant rent prices going up to try and take the brunt of the losses. The price on our old flat went up 10% - normally it goes up 2.5% in line with interest rates, but given that interest rate in the UK is currently at 0.1%, I can only assume the landlord misplaced the decimal point because landlords have surely never done anything spiteful or vindictive and put human suffering over their own greed.
Now the price increase did fall in line with our contract ending, so it was perfectly above board, but given the circumstances and that it would have been, and almost was, impossible to find a new place, the landlord had us hook, line, and sinker. Now it was always a backup plan, taking the expense and sitting around in a crappy house where we didn't even have room for a bed. I wasn't joking all those times I said I slept on the floor, I really did. So staying was a very definite final resort.
29 emails and 14 calls were made to landlords and letting agencies to try and find a property, somewhere, out there in the wilderness. A couple of weeks went by with no responses, or a small amount of back and forth followed by a "You do WHAT for a job? No, we can't accept you I'm afraid" then straight back to square one. All hope was lost, a combination of terribly selfish pandemic timing and thoroughly millennial job had shot down any chance of a new place.
It was on the day I was about to sign up for the paying 10% more on my back pain that a biblical light shone in the darkness in the form of a private estate agent.
=
A property offer. More expensive than I was willing, and really able, to pay but at this point desperation was the biggest player in this sick cosmic game, and the monetary dregs Youtube scoop up and launch at me, like the filthy chimps they are, were going to recover eventually, so I fired back an email at worrying speeds and next thing I know we were in negotiations. IDs and documents were exchanged, talk of payment was being discussed, virtual tours were forwarded. We'd finally done it, a house, with a REAL bed.
I notified my current letting agency and told them I didn't want to renew the contract because the gold mines they assume I operate had run dry, and the house we were living in for three years was put up for rent again. No "hey thanks for being a good tenant, we'll keep the price the same" no discussions, no attempts to keep up, just a reminder to drop off the keys and that was it.
Ultimately, it didn't matter, we had a new, bigger house for slightly more than the extra 10% the current place was going to have, seems like a fair deal? That was until an email popped rather unceremoniously into my inbox - "Sorry, the property you wanted has been rented out, good luck on your search!"
=
"Fuck", I thought, and possibly also screamed like a banshee but you can't prove that so your noise complaint will never get off the ground. The house that I thought was secure most certainly was not, and now I'd just confirmed the cancellation of our current contract with no way of returning to it.
And this was the point where I almost was homeless.
Hilarious funny haha jokes aside, I rang my parents immediately and told them to clear out their spare bedroom because that's how desperate things had gotten. I was actually two weeks away from being on the streets and my only solution was to move in with my parents over 200 miles away. I was looking at getting rid of all of our furniture, save our PCs and whatever we could fit in a car.
We actually did get rid of cabinets, sofas, a perfectly good tumble-dryer. You don't need those on the cold, hard streets, just the skills to survive, oh! And a bindle, all homeless people need a bindle. In a last-ditch attempt, I used a renting website to send a mass email inquiry to every rent-able property in a 2-mile radius. One bedroom, four-bedroom, cheap, expensive, who cares? Even with rent double what were paying it would still be more cost-effective than getting rid of all my things. I can just lick the garden moss for sustenance, food is overrated anyway.
We got the usual emails back from robots telling us that apparently there was something called COVID and that the offices were closed? Not entirely sure what they were talking about, but you'd think we'd have possibly heard of a mass virus resulting in total lockdown from somewhere other than a letting agency's answering machine, as if anyone emailing at that point weren't doing it out of complete desperation. Morons.
=
With one week and five days remaining before had to start moving, I received a single lone email. A house was available, bigger than what we wanted, more expensive including the 10% rent hike, and over the other side of town, but what could we do? I basically snapped their arm off and pursued it relentlessly.
Now to say that this Letting Agency was maybe the worst Letting Agency in existence would be an understatement. Their website has a timer on it, I assume to cause undue amounts of stress and terror in the worthless worms who dare rent in this modern world. HOW DARE YOU EAT AVOCADO TOAST, YOU UNWASHED FILTH. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEED TO WEAR CLOTHES? JUST WORK A THIRD JOB.
We submitted all of our documents within the first 30 minutes of having access to their website, with big red crosses by the landlord and letting agencies tasks, and big green ticks near ours. A day went by, still the same red crosses by the landlord and agency, so I called and sent more emails. Another day, same red crosses, more calls and emails. We still had to complete our background referencing checks, because apparently saying "I haven't been to prison because of my debt" isn't enough for some people, and time was quite literally running out, both on their patented depression simulation timer.com and our imminent eviction.
Then, at long last, the hour went by and the time was up. We opened the website, and there it was; "One hour remaining". Turns out that one hour minus one hour is still one hour. Now I understand why it's so difficult to get hold of estate agencies, they quite clearly exist on a different plane of reality where time is linear for everyone except them. It turns out, after some interrogation, the timer was paused because the landlord made some mistakes with the documentation that needed correction. A luxury I'm sure would have been extended to us, the unwashed masses, if we had the same problem. It was now a day before the move-in date on our contract.
Despite the big red cross still being there, we were assured that everything is fine. Except, it most certainly was not fine - they hadn't taken payment for deposit, rent, fees, anything. We were expected to move into a house we hadn't even paid for, and I had to decide whether or not to take the plunge and arrange for our internet to be installed in the new place, and get a moving company booked, when, again, I hadn't even paid for the damn house.
It was the morning of the move and I got a phone call. It was a lady demanding money from me down the phone, "Strange" I thought, "Elise is still asleep, who could this person on the phone be?". It was the Letting Agency finally calling to collect the deposit for a house I was due to move into in a few hours. Better late than never. I paid it, everything was confirmed, and just as I was about to hang up I was cut off by the voice from the other end of the phone saying "By the way, the keys are in the garden. Enjoy your new house!" The keys were in what? A peculiar arrangement, but maybe they're doing it that way because of the virus, and the office is closed. This way, in the words of the great Fred Durst, there's no human contact.
=
Now for those of you not blinded by desperation and madness, there's probably some red flags. Some alarm bells. A nuclear siren. Why out of nearly 50 emails did this one actually respond? Why was the Letting Agency so coy? And the Landlord so slow to take our money when normally they're circling overhead at the whiff of a MasterCard? Why in god's name were the keys in the garden? We unlocked the house and stepped in the front door.
The first thing of note was the smell, it was as if someone cleaned a retirement home with a vat of acid and used the retirees as a mop. Pure, unadulterated, concentrated, old people smell. For those of you that know, you know, but for those of you who don't, when ants are dying they release a pheromone to attract other ants, for defence or as a warning, and I'm certain old people do the same, except to attract the Grim Reaper. It's an empty house, they smell right? Could be the wood, could be the repairs. Or it could be something more sinister.
As we made our way around for our first viewing, with no chance of pulling out, we came across some very, very, interesting things. Firstly, the house was supposed to be unfurnished, yet it was fully furnished. Fridge freezers, microwaves, beds, wardrobes, drawers, and even old, mouldy cutlery. As if the previous tenants had been abducted during dinner. In the master bedroom, some of the skirting board had been pulled clean off, throwing debris across what was assured to be a "new carpet". In one of the bedrooms was a muddy footprint. Not a boot print, not a shoe print, a muddy footprint with full toeage.
In the same room was a mattress with a hole cut in the end of it, either used for storing drugs, which we genuinely think is the case given the empty bag inside, or for fucking, which strangely enough I tell myself to make the situation a little more humourous, and you know it's a bad situation when convincing yourself that one of the beds in your new house has been fucked is the best solution.
I won't go into all the details, but suffice to say, it was a fucking mess. I feel like I need to coin the phrase "Rental Cleaning Paradox" because it's strange how in every house I've rented they've always taken some of the deposit as a "cleaning fee" yet all the houses I've moved into have been a complete dump. I was pretty furious at this stage. I called the lettings agency and spoke very loudly at them until I got the landlords number who I then spoke very loudly too until he agreed to move the furniture. After all, one of the benefits to moving into a more expensive house is that I don't have to throw away all of my stuff - that was no longer true given that the unfurnished house was well and truly furnished.
I delayed the moving company as long as I could, to try and give the landlord time to clear the crap out of the house. The kitchen was the first thing tidied; the mouldy cutlery, the old microwave, and a kettle, which I can only assume was used to boil piss considering the state of it, were all removed. Next came the big furniture, one of the wardrobes was removed, then someone came to collect a bed with the used mattress for reasons I can't quite fathom. At this stage, about a third of the furniture we needed to be removed was removed.
=
That's when the proverbial cherry on the pure faecal cake was delivered. A message from the landlord simply saying "Look at how easy the furniture is being removed, can I get you to sell the rest of the furniture on Facebook for me and arrange it's removal." I verbally said "What the fuck?", Elise said "What the fuck?", I showed it to my friends back home who also said: "What the fuck?". The landlord, to make up for his or the letting agencies mistakes, wants me to take the time and effort sell his disgusting second-hand fucking furniture and then give him the money?
Suffice to say, I got back in touch with the landlord. I might have lost my temper and said a naughty word but eventually, he relented and the rest of the furniture was removed. I made the repairs myself because I thought I can either wait 4 weeks living in squalor for the landlord to pay someone to come in and repair the damages, or I can buy some supplies and fix it myself in a couple of hours.
The only pleasant part of the whole ordeal was the moving company, who were fast as lightning. They absolutely everything moved out of our old property and into the new one in less than 2 hours. I made a point of tipping them well because at that point they were the only sensible and diligent people in a landslide of incompetence.
So the house is repaired and cleaned, the cursed furniture is gone and our furniture is in. This is where the story ends, and we all lived happily ever after with me only having missed SINGLE (One (1)) day of uploading because we quite literally did not have internet here.
Yeah, no.
=
We still had a pretty hefty deposit hanging over the other property, and given that we were paying more than we wanted for this place, plus all the miscellaneous costs of fixing this place, and ultimately, I wanted a new bed with a fucking good mattress, I was willing to move heaven and earth to get that deposit back.
Yesterday, we went to the local DIY store, bought some paint and paint rollers, along with anything else to fix the house back up to perfect condition and headed back over to the old house while we still had the keys. We made the trek from one side of the city to the other, with cleaning supplies in tow. We got into the house and decided before we made a start to get some breakfast and some drinks because we were in it for the long haul, we left the cleaning stuff at the old house and went to the shop quickly and came straight back, only to be stopped at the front door.
The keys didn't work. Weird, we'd just gone in a second ago. We tried both keys in both locks and nothing was opening. It's then I realised I'd picked up the spare set of keys on the way out that don't have the one key we need to get back in and all of our stuff was in there. No big deal, the letting agency which was all of a five-minute walk away, had a managerial set of keys, I'll just get those. I walked over they were more than happy to help us out, after all, they definitely had a set of keys because I gave them a new set myself only a couple of months previously and had them sign for them.
Five minutes passed, then ten minutes, then a solemn-looking receptionist came back and told me that no, no they did not have the keys.
I had to call a locksmith. Two hours later, £80 down the drain, and 2 hours wasted, we were defeated.
So today I'm going to paint a house.

So that is the ongoing tale of my life in the past two months. I wish I could say it was hyped up or dramatised, but honestly, it really isn't at all. Many of you over in the discord can attest to this as on more than one occasion I've shared some of the hilarious and not at all life-shortening misgivings of this move.
To really compound things, there were also some things I left out related to family issues that also happened during this time. My birthday also happened in the past week that we completely forgot about until my parents called me to ask if I had a nice day.
The whole thing has been a mess.
I'm planning on getting at least a week of regularly scheduled content going again, then I'm going to take a day off just to scream and hopefully sleep on a god damn bed for the first time in a year.
So, in conclusion; Apologies for the delay in the content, this wasn't meant as an excuse but more as an explanation to why I missed a day of content last week, and I've only been doing one or two videos a day.
And as always, thank you for the continued support, especially during times like these where you guys are missing out on content due to circumstances well and truly outside of all of our hands. The kindness and outpouring of support has genuinely been a morale booster like no other. I hope now, with my own office, eventually a new bed to sleep on, and once the dust is settled, not only can we get back to the regular content but it might end up just being better than ever before.
Tales of your misdeeds are told from Landlords to Deposit Agencies.
Ah, thank you for coming. Please, come in, take a seat. No, no, not that one, that one is mine. You'll sit over here, in the moist chair. We don't know why it's like that, honestly it was in the building when we bought it and we just never got around to replacing it. Try not to breath too deeply when you're sat on the moist chair, it has a very musky smell to it; a strong meaty musk. You might also want to shift your weight over to the left a bit, the chair has a tendency to moan if you sit too far to the right.
Now, I've called you here to discuss this months Patreon lists. Quite honestly, I need an extra pair of eyes, and my spare ones keep disappearing. Now, I know there's a meme about me getting very little sleep, but over the past couple of days it's been very true - between getting my internet transferred to the new house, and my electric and gas needing to be cut off, along with packing three years of accumulated crap AND hosing down the moist chair, I've been extremely short on time.
To cut an even longer story down to a flacid, and overall disappointingly-lengthed story, I think I have finalised this months Patron lists, but there was a bit of confusion. Just generally really, a side effect of the moving-madness.
-
Please let me know ASAP if you're missing from this list (either not receiving a shout out and you want one, or receiving a shout out and you don't want one) and I'll adjust it immediately. If you're missing I'll get you added to the top of the next day to make up for my gaping incompetence.
I've already written this intro before, but inexplicably, due to Patrons god awful post editor, it was deleted and replaced by the outro. Why? Who knows! Just another wacky feature of Patreon to keep me on my toes.
Long story short, this is a three part post - Personal crap at the start and a warning about potentially missing content, a channel review for the past 90 days, and then a series retrospective, followed by a very humorous outro and a funny haha joke about Raid Shadow Legends because that's still relevant I hope.
For those of you not wanting to read, I'll put a TL:DR summary at the bottom of the post.
-
MR STREAMER STUFF:
I've been hyper busy over the past month desperate trying to find anywhere to live. We're down to our last two weeks before we have to be moved into a new house and I think things have finally picked up.
After over 45 emails, 14 phone calls, and a ridiculous amount of documents, we might finally have somewhere. Unfortunately, the letting agency's website still says that we're awaiting approval, but after donning my Karen hat and speaking to the manager, she's basically confirmed that the house is ours. There's still a bit of a concern given that we haven't signed on the dotted line, but I have to take their word for it and start preparing to move their otherwise there wont be internet by the time I move in.
Luckily the lockdown restrictions came at a pretty good time, and as of this week moving companies can begin operating again, otherwise moving a sofa across town on foot wouldn't have been much fun. The downside to that is my lungs are still fucked from earlier this year, so even though I wont have to trek through town with a fridge on my back, I'm just going to die of covid instead.
I'm hoping the stars align and I can get internet setup in the new house before moving, that way I shouldn't miss a beat on video uploads, but their might be one or two days of questionable content while that is dealt with.
-
CHANNEL STUFF:
So, first things first, the channel analytics. I haven't done this for a while because the stats have been completely useless thanks to the new Youtube changes and covid. So I figured we might as well go by stats post Youtube-quarantine changes:
Views from March 3rd vs previous 90 days: 4.4M views (down by 16%) Viewing time from March 3rd vs previous 90 days: 1.2M hours (down by 25%) Subscribers from March 3rd vs previous 90 days: 6.4k subs (down by 66%)
As for revenue, as per Youtube policy I can't give specific numbers, but I'm sure they wont complain about percentages (especially if none of you tell them):
Above represents how much a month makes up the past 365 days of revenue. So despite views dropping 16%, revenue dropped by over 50% from March to April alone. I understand, why would advertisers want to buy expensive ads when no one has any money, nor is anywhere open, to buy them anyway?
So, all of the times I've said "without the patrons the channel wouldn't be possible in the first place" in my desperately needing to be scripted outros, it has been unfortunately true more than ever. At the rate things are going it will take, assuming each series is a success, a good five more months to catch up to where we are the start of the year.
Basically, 2021 will begin at almost same level as 2020 did.
-
SERIES STUFF:
So as the channel sank pretty significantly for a while there, I thought that taking a gamble with some new series wouldn't be a bad idea. It's been a lot of fun for me being able to do something other than CK2 or Rimworld. Right now the really challenge is finding a balance between grind in-game, the editing, and the upfront research, while still finding time for CK2 and Rimworld regular scheduled content.
We started with Bannerlord, which was a pretty good match. It has the disturbing character creation, the settlement management, room for horrible misplays, and terrible UI - fits the channel perfectly. The downside is towards the late game with Bannerlord, it becomes a management sim with very little of getting stuck in, which I personally don't enjoy, especially seeing as there are a dozen other games that could do the same thing but a hundred times better, like Total War. I edited up spending a lot of time editing down Mount and Blade and it was pretty refreshing for a while, but needed too much tidying up towards the end.
Next was Kenshi, which I'm glad we played, but is a good example of a game that isn't viable with the current format. This game is a grind fest, and requires both knowledge of how things work, and an idea of the world so you can go in with a goal in mind, neither of which I had. I didn't even have the usual benefit of having watched someone else play it, this was a purely blind run, and even though there were some funny moments, I can't imagine I'll explore games like that without a playthrough or two under my belt first.
Finally now we've started with Terraria. This fixes the Kenshi issue of not having any prior experience, given that Terraria is one of my most played games, but still has a lot of the grinding issues that Mount and Blade started to present, and requires some pretty hefty editing to get around. Like Mount and Blade I've got to a point where it's taking me well over half a day just to get a particular goal achieved, as todays (1st of June) episode will attest to!
-
So, the plan then.
I feel like this will give you guys something, it'll give me something to play around with, it'll add a bit of variety and freshness, but overall should be a fun community driven thing.
Every Saturday night we'll vote on a new Patron-guided series for the main channel starting on the Monday following - 24 hours of voting to allow for timezone differences.
That gives us 6 days to try out a new game, so for those of you wanting FTL, Starsector, Xcom, etc then with a week available to play it should be a good amount of time, and for the longer series that might win the vote, we'll move that over to the second channel to continue, win-win.
Hopefully this will help keep things interesting, but more importantly, it wont have me falling into old habits and old games. I feel like I've gotten too comfortable with commentary on Rimworld and CK2 at this point because its the same old, same old. I've got to stay on top of my game somehow!
-
I look forward to seeing what you guys have to say - I'm hoping it'll be a reliable breath of fresh air for the channel! If you have any feedback or suggestions then I'd recommend throwing them in the Patreon Discord channel so we can all discus it and try and work out what fits best, otherwise feel free to DM me or leave a comment here!
As always, your continued support is much appreciated. The pennies Youtube were throwing my way over the past few months were a bit disheartening, but thanks to you guys, nothing to worry about. And I can still have my soul intact.
Which reminds me, while your all here, have you heard of a great new game called Raiders: Soul Legacy? It's available on iOS and Android, and they've generously agreed to work with* the channel to give you guys an extra special spicy bonus EXCLUSIVELY!

TL:DR - I'm still not sure I have a house and might die. Channel is bad and I should get a real job. Vote on a Patreon Series starting once a week when I have a house and Terraria ends, that will go on the main channel running for a week.
I have been able to get a little more work done on the Betavengers mod - things have been very busy recently (I'll explain more until the end) but I think I have enough for a new behind the scenes preview.
-
The focus has been entirely on the foundations of the societies for the mod - something in place to build on as much, or as little, as we think is necessary to getting the mod finished. Mechanically, everything you'd expect from the societies is in place; entrance event, ranking systems, and a strict hierarchy ensuring that Thernos and the Betavengers aren't outranked by Count Armpit of Bumfuck Nowhere, in their respective societies. There is only a small amount of extra mechanical work to do (designating and combating great threats) before it's basically playable.
So this time all I need help with is flavour. I want to flesh out the societies a bit more than their current function, which is currently just an excuse to have the characters interact with one another and build relationships and stories. The foundations are all in place to be expanded on as we see fit, I want it to be fun, but also story building. I also want it to help create these characters naturally from the randomly spawned AI, albeit rarely.
I've always said that the AI in CK2 has never been able to keep up with the complexity of the game. Where the player can breed a strong child, invite the best martial educator in the world to court to tutor it, give it artifacts, books, bloodlines, then eventually take that character through a warrior lodge until it's an unkillable Goliath, the AI simply doesn't focus like that. So through these societies I have offered the AI a chance to build themselves up fairly significantly with events. The player will also have access to some training events (as long as they're not too powerful already) but they'll have significantly diminished chances of success compared to the AI.
Anyway, throw me a message, leave a comment here, or discord, or wherever I'll see it and I can start working on flavouring.

As for me, things have been a pretty tricky over the past month. I talked about it briefly but we have just over a couple of weeks to find a new house to live in. After 28 inquiries, I had 2 responses, neither of which are getting back to me despite many strong-worded emails. I have asked my parents to clear out a room for me, but given that it's 5 hours away then I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with a house full of things when the time comes.
Suffice to say, the content might end up being a little thin on the ground on account of me being borderline homeless, which as far as excuses go, I feel isn't a terrible one.
The government yesterday announced a slow return back to normal, so moving for non-essential reasons is now possible again (through we were an essential reason anyway) which means estate agents will hopefully open up again now there's some profit in it, and more importantly, they might return my damn calls and emails.
Either way, I'll give you all a heads up if or when I become homeless, then you can pause your pledges until I get the content back up on its feet again. I guess if nothing else I could livestream from my phone.
I can see it now - Raid: Shadow Legends Episode #248.
Anyway, enjoy the video, and I'll hopefully be back soon with more updates to the Betavengers!

Greeting (one of them, you get a single greeting),
The lists are finally complete. Luckily it took a little less time than I expected because I updated it last week as well, but I think this should be the final lists for May, but of course here they are for you to preview and CORRECT MY FAULTS.
These will go into effect absolutely right now (because I'm about to record) so if I do miss anyone I will give you two shout outs the next day to make up for it. It'll sound ridiculous, but consider my embarrassment a gift.
As I mention on the document page, there are 74 names on my secondary list of people who don't want shout outs. Again, I wont be publishing this for privacy reasons, but rest assured if you want a shout out but you're not on the shout out list, then I almost certainly have you on my secondary list and it would only take a second to transfer you over to the main list, so just give me a heads up on Discord or here with your Patreon name and what you would like to be shouted out as, and I'll add it ASAP!
As mentioned earlier, your continued support is much appreciated, and it always come as as nice surprise to me how many people persist (maybe a poor choice of words) month after month with their support. Again, I hope soon I can have some good news regarding the house move and we can get back to all the fun stuff like second channel series, twitch streaming, and exploring new content.
Thernos and Betavenger update coming later this week, stay tuned!
I'm currently working on the new Patron lists. I'll have an update post within a couple of hours showing the final version so that if you've been missed or want a shout out we can get that done as soon as possible!
A couple of people have also warned me that they were missing from the Patron lists last month, I've looked into it and it seems like there was a billing issue last month where some people weren't billed for April and were instead billed double this month. I've already sent a message to Patreon support regarding the issue and hopefully I'll have an update from them soon. I assume it was just a blip with their charge system but I'm hoping they can give us a clear answer.
Thanks for the patience with this. Patreon and Youtube making platform changes have been an arse this month. That, and we still haven't found somewhere to live have been a bit of distraction but I'm trying to keep on top of this especially so I can get some communication with you all ASAP.
Thanks once again for the support, I look forward to getting back to the regular schedule as soon as things are all sorted!
Tales of your misdeeds are told from Moonmoon to Sharymus,
At long last, the new lists are complete. I had to comb through all 530 names, compare it to the last lists, make two new lists, and I think we're finally finished!
As always, I'm going to give you all chance to look over them, just to ensure that if you don't want a shoutout then I can remove it in advance before I use them at the end of the episodes starting on the 28th (around 36 hours time from now).
I also have a list of 76 names that don't appear on my list of shout outs, I won't be putting these live for obvious reasons, but if your name isn't on the new list and you want a shout out then don't worry, I almost certainly have you on my other list. Just shoot me a message and I'll make sure you're added in time!
These will run for approximately a week, then I'll refresh them again to coincide with the start of the month.
I also want to give a bit more of a personal thank you to those of you who upped your pledges - the only issue now is I have absolutely not idea how I'm going to fit them into the outro card, I think I may have experiment with scrolling credits!
As of writing this, we've actually bounced back a single percentage, so we're only down to -49% Youtube revenue rather than the -50% we were at yesterday - maybe I'm over optimistic but this could be a sign of great things to come on the Youtube front, but your support is massively appreciated (especially as I still haven't heard from the dozen estate agents about a new house, but hopefully I'll have an update on that soon, for better or for worse).
Thank you all again, and hopefully I'll have some more behind the scenes content coming up very soon!
Given the massive amount of support that has been thrown my way recently, I figured I should do a bit more Patreon BTS content, mainly as a thank you, but also as a way of communicating what is actually happening outside of the main channel content.
So when I've had some free time I've been working on the Thernos mod, that I teased very briefly in the last Patreon post, but I thought I could do a lot better than just a few images here and there, and show the actual foundation systems in place right now.
Another reason I want to put up this preview is to also get your feedback and ideas for where to take the mod next. I have some Endgame ideas for the campaign but fun other side mechanics are really what I'm struggling with. Right now, it just feels like a coat of paint slapped onto a few CK2 characters, and I want to make it more impressive than that.
I also want to make it so the AI can strive for the lofty heights of Betavenger, if one of the positions are free. I was thinking of adding an ambition to "Become Betavenger" that will fire dangerous yet rewarding events in order to help AI characters ascend to the level needed to become a Betavenger.
The other big plan, and I'm sure I'll regret agreeing to this (thank you Pickle), is the addition of a 'Betavengers Society', and a Thernos 'Dark Order' (Black Order in the comics and MCU) society that will act as a nice way to keep track of members, but will also allow new Betavengers to actually ascend the ranks of the society and build rapport with their fellow members. That way we can have other characters associated with the Betavengers, without actually being one.
-
Really, the inspiration of this whole thing was obviously the reaction to the pretty stupid Betavengers design document I did a year or so ago, but mainly because time and time again people enjoy seeing major characters rise up and play a part in the CK2 world that are on-par with the player, and for reasons I've talked about previously*, this is basically impossible. Hopefully this way it will not only be a challenge, but will provide a good story, and add a unique flavour to the otherwise fairly generic CK2 characters.
Anyway, let me know what you think. A lot of the work so far has gone into behind the scenes mechanics, checks, and foundation work but it's pretty expandable now, so I'm excited for you all to see, and play, the final product.
Rumours of your misdeeds are told from Delte Fear to Thernos.
How to do I even begin? The support has been absolutely nuts in response to that last post - the point of it, from my perspective, was to explain that content will be garbage for a while because of everything happening, and that I fully understand if people want to stop their Patreon, at least even just until things have evened out a little bit.
The support, either by pledges being upped, or the messages have been more than I ever expected, and quite literally the opposite of the intended effect, to be honest. It ended up being far more negative than I anticipated, but I didn't want to keep alluding to the mysterious Youtube changes without actually addressing that the platform has a serious problem.
So today, to make up for my groggy 5am rant, I wanted to focus on something a bit more positive and give you all some feedback on what I'm working on.
-
Firstly then, slight spoiler, but given the feedback on my questionable Betavengers concept I wrote up a white ago, I have decided against all advice from my gut and accountant to go through with it. For those of you that missed it, you can watch me laugh like a Hyena at my own jokes here.
It's actually going pretty well, I'm getting to flex my extremely good and talented artistic muscles for a couple of custom graphical cultures, which honestly I'm far too proud of. Presenting as a world first - the Thernos* culture group:
Now the women faces are obviously hideous and don't work at all, that's solely down to local moderator Sydney who suggested that my original female portraits looked too normal. So, my very simple and barbaric response, was to staple the male chins directly onto the female portraits, which obviously look horrible, but I guess that's the appeal.
Unlike most of the other mods I have done with custom portraits, this isn't just a static image (Santa series, Thargaret Matcher, even Joris Bonson) and will allow for a decent variation on family members both male and female. There are also going to be different other cultures added to this but those are confidential until I'm happy with them.
-
The next Rimworld series has been planned out for me by a member of the community with a pretty cool concept based on what we've played briefly, and the central mechanic is based around building a family of questionable ethics.
Especially appealing given that Rimworld is famous for warcrimes, organ farms, drug barons etc, and we really have never stretched the ethical side of things, mainly because of the additional difficulty that comes with harvesting organs etc.
-
For the final third series, currently Mount and Blade, I wanted to go for a rotating series to keep things as fresh as possible.
One of the big concerns I always had was that the channel was known for CK2 and Rimworld, that was it, and that I was going to be trapped doing CK2, Rimworld, or similar games for the rest of eternity. I can't understate how much the positive reaction to Bannerlord has boosted my spirits in regards to this, it shows to me that we're in a position where we can start branching out and transitioning to other content, something I was pretty apprehensive to do before.
So, that's where you guys come in - after Mount & Blade comes to an end, either naturally or with the almost definite bugged out beyond salvaging, I'm going to put a poll up to the patrons with no suggestions of my own so that the community, after a couple rounds of voting, can help narrow down the next third series entirely independent of my own input.
The only issue I have with this currently is knowing how do go about implementing the poll system. I want this, by design, to be a reward to the long term supporters of the channel who have got us up the this flexible channel point, but I also want the poll to be as accessible as possible without people just joining the patreon to influence a vote - I would feel like I'm extorting people at that stage.
I'm tempted to either post it on here as an open poll, allowing any and all to contribute to it but maybe at the risk of detracting from those long term supporters, or put it to a particular tier to help keep things a bit more focused, but at the cost of locking out the community. Essentially I want to hear your thoughts and feeling on how best to approach it before I go ahead with this, but it won't be for a while anyway.
-
That's all from me for now. Again, I want to thank you all for your support, either financially or through the positive messages - I'm sure things will work out fine, once I have a confirmed place to live I think that will definitely boost my spirits pretty massively.
But again, I will reiterate, especially as I've received messages from people feeling bad about this - you come first, I fully understand if you want to cancel your pledge, I have cut back on luxuries myself, and you definitely don't have to explain yourself to you, or anyone you voluntarily support, during difficult times. Though there are some absolute fucking cunts coming out of the woodwork demanding for donations on various platforms - you are not beholden to them, they are the worst dregs of the content creators who don't deserve the time of day.
Plus, I'll always be here, even Youtube does end up crushed under the weight of its own incompetence, I'll find a way to keep things going, even if that is via the medium of very questionable modded content.

Tales of your misdeeds are told from Delte Fere to Saw, God of Lumber,
I've been feeling increasingly guilty over the past month especially because I believe a lot of what I've been uploading has not been up to quality. This post is going to be a two-part piece, first explaining why content (in my opinion) has been suffering lately, and secondly a bit of a rant regarding current series.
-
Firstly, I'm sorry for the lack of communication. Though I hope none of you have been actively upset about it, I still feel as if an explanation is necessary to why I haven't been so active on Discord, writing up the monthly Patreon Youtube stat reviews, and ultimately why I feel like content has taken a massive blow.
Right now I'm uploading three to four videos daily. One warm up video on the second channel, the regular daily Ck2 and Rimworld, then the alternating Bannerlord video, plus a new CK2 mod I'm working on for next series - this isn't the mod I teased a month back, more on that towards the end of this post.
One of the issues is most likely the workload itself, but I'm struggling to find ways to really make that any easier. I feel that it's mostly just a confluence of circumstance at this stage. We have the GRRM series that is incredibly slow, the Rimworld series where we've hit a brick wall in terms of resources, and Bannerlord is a lot of slow grind and management that I have to edit a lot more than other series. I think all of these in tandem have really pushed my recording time up, and is why Bannerlord in particular can only be on every other day.
Downside to this is that I tragically only have 24 hours in a day to record with, and second takes are no longer possible right now. I have scrapped entire videos before because they haven't met my standard but really it's a luxury I just cannot afford. Honestly, a lot of what prompted this post is that later today (22nd April) the Ck2 and the Rimworld video I would have scrapped and restarted if I had the luxury of doing so, but I've gone ahead with them because I think it's at least better than giving you guys nothing at all.
There is also the personal issues I've talked about a little bit in the Patreon discord.
First of which is that according to the 15 texts I've received from my doctors practice, I am a high risk individual, so I have to self-quarantine. We're not talking about a government recommended one outdoor activity a day kind of quarantine - this is a life or death type of quarantine because in the last six months I've had severe respiratory issues. (In fact, if you go back to the CK2 Rise to Power series with battle grandma I did back in January, I sound like a pitch-perfect Darth Vader impersonator.)
Secondly, the currently rental contract on our house expires in June. That gives us roughly one month left (obviously we were looking beforehand) to find a new place to live. Strangely enough, that's proving extremely difficult when every estate agent, landlord, and property owner have all apparently retreated to their bunker on the fucking moon - or at least I assume that's where they are considering how difficult it is to find somewhere to live.
We could have, in theory, remained in our current house, but our landlord in his infinite kindness only offered us a 24 month contract at a 15% increased monthly rate. Nothing like a bit of kindness during a these tough times. The house was already too small when we moved it, but we were willing to compromise because it was pretty convenient to where Elise worked at the time. When I say small, I mean small. As in so small we can't fit a bed into the bedroom so we have to sleep on the floor. It's not quite as tragic as it sounds, it's actually pretty comfy - but not exactly convenient.
That, plus Elise's brother is living with us because his plans have been ruined by the pandemic, means that living here is just not viable at all. But mainly it's because I would actually rather live on the street as a poor orphan boy than give the landlord the satisfaction of paying his extortion.
-
One of the other big issues right now, as I have eluded to in every single outro card for the past month, is that Youtube is tanking extremely hard right now.
It's also no secret that Youtube pushed ads a lot harder recently, and though it was a double-edged sword, it really helped smaller channels like me claw back some revenue. That is essentially gone entirely now, and though I've said it a lot, I sincerely mean it that without Patreon I would absolutely not be doing this.
For the hours I put into the channel, taking into account recording, editing, mods for series etc, Patreon basically equated to (after transfer fees and an abysmal transfer rates, thanks Paypal) slightly more than a minimum wage job - but the trade off for me was that it was extremely comfortable, and at the end of the day, playing video games.
I've worked a real minimum wage, 5am - 3pm job, and it sucked, so I absolutely appreciate what I have. The aggressive Youtube advertising over the past few months definitely drove some people away, but that, in tandem with Youtube red, actually netted a decent amount. I can't discuss specific values because of Youtube monetisation policy, but it elevated me from "Whether my rent is paid or not depends on the kindness of strangers" to "Holy shit this Youtube thing might actually work out in the long term" - the latter of which entirely disappeared overnight.
Well okay, not literally overnight, but pretty god damn close. I've seen a -47% revenue drop as of last time I checked (I think I'm okay to say that much without Youtube hunting me down) over approximately two weeks vs a -23% views drop. I would have expected slightly less of a views drop, but still a significant one, as the 300,000+ views on the first episode of the CK2 Rise to Power series completely fucked up my numbers, however the revenue drop is unprecedented.
Luckily, I know it's not just me - I was linked to a Twitter thread started by Hank Green showcasing the platform wide drop, but it is still massively demoralising to see the numbers fall day on day. The Crux of it all?
For me, the money going away, the views going down, is a demoralising, but not world ending - I knew what I was getting into with Youtube. I've said this before, but I can hardly complain about it when people have quite literally lost their jobs recently.
The issue is the complete lack of communication. No assurances, no explanation to why people's livelihoods are being snatched away suddenly - obviously we're in a global pandemic and corporations hardly want to advertise during it, but there was no forewarning of what to expect when we saw this on the horizon, and now it's hit, there's still nothing.
But-you-fucking-know-what-there-is-instead? A new self-review system, implemented by Youtube, in the middle of the platforms biggest revenue decline ever, that forces users to manually review their own videos before they're even permitted to be uploaded, let alone monetised.
Yes, I'm sure it has the bonus of allowing Youtube to not require so many staff members during the pandemic to review videos. But I would sure as fuck put money on this system not being a temporary measure. What's more is that the review system is deeply problematic, there's more than enough for me to write an entire separate post on but I wont for my own sanity. I did rant about it in the Patreon discord chat though.
Not to mention the extremely vague and general expectations of a rating. How hell am I supposed to know if "unedited simulated violence as part of a video game" applies to Crusader Kings, or Rimworld? We're not exactly on Grand Theft Auto levels of car battery applied directly to the nipples torture scene, but it is, quite literally, simulated violence. And what if I honestly don't believe Rimworld or Ck2 belongs in the same category of violence categorisation as GTA, or COD?
They use extensive terminology such as a "your trust rating", and allowing YouTube to "understand how my video aligns with advertisers". The trope of China's "social rating score" is becoming a little bit too real in the Youtube space. Reading between the lines it seems to be a very simple case of "do our jobs, and if we deem you untrustworthy, you do not get paid". Now also bear in mind my previous point of vague categories, and you can see why this is so concerning. I might be accidentally taking my "trust rating" by not correctly flagging CK2 as a violent video game.
As for secondary projects, I'm going to have to make some changes going forward.
Twitch streaming will basically be shelved, at least until we find somewhere else to live - the bonus to this is that I might be able to setup an actual studio if we get a larger room for me to work in.
The big CK2 mod project I teased a month ago is indefinitely postponed. Though progress was going pretty well, it was basically just me working on it. I realised that it was my passion project that the other members of the group had little interest in and were most likely only there to be polite. Despite common rumour, I am not a primordial force of nature, and a one man overhaul mod would be borderline impossible anyway, without an entire Youtube channel to carry.
Second channel videos might also have to slow down, or be cancelled completely until I have moved. They're a useful tool for me to warm up with, but they also require rendering and uploading and there just aren't enough hours in the day for it.
-
And of course I'll reiterate the point I made in the last post - look after yourself first. I fully understand Patreon subscriptions being cancelled at a time like this, I've had to cut back on luxuries entirely so I fully understand you doing the same. At this stage I will survive on pure vitriol.
To those of you continuing to support this dumpster fire - thank you. If all goes to plan, I have some interesting ideas coming up over the next month. Figured if we're in a rut might as well use it as an excuse to experience seeing as we haven't exactly got much to lose on the analytics front. Stay tuned - but you guys will get to vote on the next game after I retire Bannerlord, we're going to have a permanent rotating third series directed by the Patrons.
As always, you can contact me with feedback, complains, or just for a chat over discord. DMs are always open.
Tales of your misdeeds are told from Battania to Shittle's Creek,
Sam, Mr Streamer, Roll1D2Games.
PS - Coincidentally, I wrote this over the course of about an hour while editing tomorrows episodes. If it makes no sense then that's because it's 5am and I working on the content so haven't had a chance to read it back!
Friends and dogs dressed in human clothes to try and fool me,
I have a response from Patreon regarding the problems with Discord roles being revoked seemingly randomly.
It's a start but far from a solution, I have since revoked the ability for the bot to handle ranks as the issue was still ongoing as of 6th April. Instead I've created some commands for the moderators with will allow them to handle ranks (we have mods from various time zones so it should be the fastest method).
I'll be updating the rank rewards to reflect this and highlight that it's not automatic currently, but the ranks being revoked were the main issue and that wont be an issue anymore!
Thanks for your patience, this whole thing has been a massive pain in the arse but we seem to be closer to a solution now.
For the second time now, the Patreon bot has again revoked many ranks from those of you still part of the Patreon campaign. I was offered a fix last time that clearly has not worked, and I was skeptical if it really was the cause of the issue anyway - evidentially this was indeed the case.
I will be once again emailing Patreon to ask for an explanation on behalf of you all to why their bot integration is revoking ranks at the start of every billing period. As far as I can tell, there's clearly a discrepancy between when they start revoking ranks and the final part of the billing process, the former happening long before the process is complete.
Trust me when I say I am equally as, and probably more so, annoyed and those of you affected. But here's a couple of ways we can fix it in record time:
Option 1) Last time I made a moderator command for grating patreon status, please send a message to the mods with a screenshot of your pledge and they can facilitate ranks being given out. This is probably the quickest way as we have mods across multiple time zones and despite popular rumour I do, in fact, sleep on occasion.
Option 2) Message me on Discord with your Patreon name/screenshot of pledge, and when I see the message it will be my top priority.
Apologies once again for this, I'll demand a decent explanation this time and try and get Patreons assurance that you wont be inconvenienced in the future,
- Mr Angery Streamer
PS. Attached is some screenshots I have taken so we can all LAUGH together. HAHAHA.
Friends, Patrons, and kombatants of this fine Mortal Kombat,
I'm not going to beat around the bush here - times are tough right now, I fully expect people to cancel their subscriptions and prepare for difficulties coming up.
To still try and help out in what small way I can, I am going to make the VIP window more flexible for as long as the Quarantine lasts, that way you aren't going to lose something because of financial difficulties that we'll all going to be hit with (more on that later in the post!). I'm going to talk to the moderators about what is the best course of action, but if you were due VIP within the next month or so, we'll go ahead and grant those out ahead of schedule so that you can still be recognised for your channel support.
For those of you who don't know, VIP is a Discord rank as badge of channel support, similar to the Twitch system except its permanent. I never liked the way that Patreon encourage a Patreon-only discord channel, but if your membership lapses for even for a minute then it disappears forever. I plan on adding a tiered VIP system as, ridiculously, some people have over a year of uninterrupted membership. Most importantly, in times like now, it prevents a community being divided and falling apart based on purely financial uncertainty.
On to what this means for the channel - I fully understand that the Patreon will dip, and I expect by a massive amount, I've also cancelled a subscriptions this month because of Youtube monetisation changes.
Unfortunately, it means that my break from 3 series a day has immediately been reversed as new changes to Youtube means that the less than stellar amount I was getting from Youtube beforehand has become even worse. Even though it has only been a few days, the monetary impact is already visible, unbelievably.
Currently, I am looking at putting out the three daily videos on the main channel, with a rotating 3rd series voted on by patrons, a daily series on the second channel of whatever I feel like playing at the time, the occasional twitch stream I can eek out, and any other background work such as modding (GRRM mod now available ;) ) - hopefully this will be enough to keep the channel afloat and to buy enough garlic to stop my landlord crossing the threshold, but this long diatribe is basically supposed to say: I'm doing what I can to survive, absolutely you should too.
But when this quarantine is all over I expect STATUES TO BE ERECTED TO MY GLORY. A TRIUMPH IN EVERY HOUSEHOLD AND YOUR FIRST BORN WILL BE NAMED STREAMER IN MY HONOUR.
TL:DR - Fully understand cancelling Patreon, VIPs going out early to combat quarantine cancellations, the channel will hopefully survive despite Youtube's best efforts, more content,
I have finally finished writing up this months list. Apologies for the delay on this one - there were a couple of days delay for charges and whatnot with Patreon, and then a little on my end as well because of the damn Patreon robot removing Patrons at complete random (again, more updates on that when Patreon send me them).
To make up for the slight delay, this months list will run until 8th April, then the new list will go forward.
Please note, I do have to hand write these up every single month, and last month was one of the busiest in terms of new patrons. Having compared, renamed, expunged, and otherwise gone mad, over nearly 600 names, I believe (hope) this to be final list.
So that you guys can double check my night of name-juggling I've put up a closed access list of all the names, that way if you've been missed off, have a name you'd like changed, or would like to be removed, you can check at anytime, at your own convenience.
Please note, I am operating the opt-in system, so if you signed up using your full name, and haven't messaged me with approval to shout it out, been on a previous list, or given me a nickname to shout out instead, you've been automatically excluded for privacy and safety reasons. (Even though I'm certain it wouldn't matter in the least, I don't want to accidentally shout out someone who doesn't want it)
Friends, Patrons, and ENEMIES (You know who you are.),
We're finally at the end of the lists, and I'm not working on getting the new lists together. As always Patreon are being a massive pain in the arse with their monthly lists, so this one is delayed, especially as I have to work through 600ish names.
I'll publish the final monthly list somewhere so everyone can take a look and confirm if they are/are not on the list/do not want a shout out!
To make up for the lateness with a couple of days delay from Patreon and the bot confusion, this list will run from March 8th to April 8th to ensure you get a full month of shout outs!
With regards to the Patreon Bot, rank removal, etc, I have received a reply from Patreon on the 2nd of March who have asked me for a handful of names of affected users so they can take a look into it. The last reply I sent to their team was on the 5th of March, with no new update as of today, the 8th. I'll update once again when they have confirmed the issue!
The monthly channel review and update will be written up whenever I have caught up with existing content and Patreon calamities are smoothed over. Should be within the next couple of days though!
As always - Thank you for the support. If it wasn't for the Patreon existing, YouTube would be borderline impossible for me to continue. Last month was extremely good for the channel and the numbers haven't dropped as much as I expect with some of the more experimental/cool down content (Both CK2 and Rimworld more or less being vanilla).
Content will start ramping up back to the modded scene with CK2 in a couple of days, and Rimworld will be ready whenever the majority of the mods in the community mod pack have been updated, but they're off to a very, very good start, so hopefully it wont be long at all!
Rumours of your misdeeds are told from Omega to Matters of Life and Death,
As of the 1st of this month, the Discord Patreon bot began to systematically remove every single Patreon role from the server. I'm not entirely sure what caused the issue, and I have sent a pretty arsey email to Patreon themselves asking for an explanation to why this is the case - I'll put another update post up with their full reply when I receive it.
Yesterday I sent out the mass message to you guys asking for affected users, not realising that the Patreon bot still had ongoing issues. I've just been alerted to the fact that roles we had restored have since been removed once again by the bot.
Until I get confirmation from Patreon that the issue is fixed, me and the moderation team will be giving out the roles manually. I have written a script for the discord bots that will help in this, but this will be a long process, so I can only ask for your patience and offer my apologies in what is going to be a long process restoring all the roles removed by the Patreon integration bot.
Sorry to say this for a second time, but if you've been affected by this, even those I have already spoken too, please message me and/or a moderator on discord again with your Patreon name and tier, this will help speed up the process rapidly, and it means if I'm sleeping/recording/editing you can still regain your roles via the moderators, who have kindly offered to help with this complete mess.
As I said, I will immediate attach any correspondence I receive from Patreon that explains what the hell has happened to cause this to happen.
Apologies again,
Sam.
EDIT: Should also point out I've unplugged the Patreon bot for the time being and I'm preparing to burn it at the stake.
So, it's been a long time coming, and I've hinted at it a couple of times - a big ol' mod is in development for CK2 co-authored by yours truly and a relatively small team of trustworthy individuals. I go into the specifics, overview, themes etc in the video itself, so here I'll explain what the videos series it is (extremely meta, I know).
I've been mulling around the idea of doing a Patreon early access series for quite some time, I'm still stalwart in my "No Patreon exclusive content policy" but this is actually beneficial to me in that I can get a smaller, more controlled amount of feedback from a group that are more invested in the channel than your average viewer.
The idea of asking 55000+ subscribers for feedback on a mod is quite frankly a horrifying idea, but with this method, it gives me a more direct line to you guys, with a much smaller crowd, to have an actual conversation with, rather than just a round of "let's all scream at Mr Streamer".
Watch the video, and let me know what you think! If you want to give me some feedback on the actual video itself (presentation, information, etc) then please do and I can alter the way things are presented in the next Dev Diary!
If you're reading this, the Tentacle series is over. The series was a massive time sink, both in terms of setting it, editing, exporting and uploading two different versions, and re-editing/re-uploading when and if YouTube clapped me, so I'm going back to two videos a day for a couple of days to have a bit of a break and deal with some real life stuff too!
I, however, am NOT A BIG FOOL (despite what the comments section think) and I know a lot of you only joined the Patreon to be able to see that juicy behind the scenes content, which is exactly what it's here for! Partially one of the reasons I'm putting up this post is to give those of you notice who only signed up for the uncensored degeneracy that I have no immediate plans for continuing with uncensored content, for a little while. So if you're only a Patron for the uncensored series, consider adjusting or cancelling your pledge to match this!
I have however spoken privately to the developer of House Irae and Luxuria Fantasia - a mod similar to Dark World Reborn but it's far more balanced and well designed in my opinion with much better theming - and after she's given a thumbs up to mod choices, I will be doing another series. This future series will require censoring so will, like Tentacle Dreams, be uploaded somewhere hidden from the eyes of Youtube for Patrons to enjoy.
I do, however, want to continue doing Patron BTS/First content - Patreon allows me to set a time limit on posts before they go live, which might be a nice compromise to my "No Patreon Exclusive" content policy.
Firstly, I'd be interested to know if anyone has anything in mind that they would like to see me do, whether that be a video where I present monthly channel data/analytics rather than the Patreon posts. Or whether that is something a bit more entertainment driven like a podcast, lets play series, or anything along those lines. I've already started experimenting with slotting in a long format game on the second channel (Dark Souls 2 in this case) just to see if it's possible within the schedule, and I think it's definitely do-able, so why not give you guys some say over it.
Another idea I'd like to try is behind the scenes development diaries for an upcoming mod I've been working on. I don't want to spoil too much with regards to it, and I definitely don't want to over-promise on it and be confined to a time limit, but it would be very useful to get feedback on the features as they get implemented, but before they get cemented in place and built upon. I don't want to give a schedule for this though, otherwise it'll end up being rushed and effect both the dev diary itself and the quality of the mod. I'd probably aim to put up one a week with Patrons getting a few days of exclusivity so I can get feedback in a more sensible environment, rather than the screech-pits of YouTube.
I'm also gonna go bit more low-scope, with a "back to the drawing board" style series a kin to Rimworld where we play the CK2 ruler challenges in order to give myself both a refresher on base-game CK2, and a little work time for another series mod I've been working on *Cough* Game of Thrones Unlanded *Cough*
TL:DR - Check the stuff in bold, tentacles over, base game CK2 series incoming for a short time, Game of Thrones retuning, dev diaries potentially?
Thank you all for making this month of the most successful for the Patreon, even for those of you only here for a short while, it's been incredible and was thoroughly unexpected, so I hope I can continue living up to your faith in me and the channel!
Tales of your misdeeds are told from Scrotra to Olympus,
I plan on making a post around this time tomorrow regarding what I have planned for more Patreon first-content. Stay tuned!
Seriously 18+ this time. Pleasenote: For real, this one is 18+, it contains incrediblyexplicit images that have been stolen from various internet websites by the developers of this mod. By popular request, I'm going to upload an uncensored version of the Dark World series here. They will premiere the same time as the Youtube release, so it's not so much of an early access thing, more of a patreon bonus.

I am a fool that accidentally attached episode 8 and not episode 9, accept my sincere and stupid apologies in these troubled times.

Stay strong patrons, we're suffering with a little bit of internet difficulty due to adverse weather, but the uncensored episode will hopefully be available within the next 30 minutes!
In the future I'm going to aim to have the uncensored episodes available an hour before the channel release on here to give me a little bit of a buffer to deal with any restrictions/flags YouTube decide to throw at the video.
