Whiskey Wednesday

For the last six years, since making its debut on the Las Vegas Strip at Caesars Palace, I have been hearing about Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen. It usually books 2-3 months out, so when I got an invitation to go, I was very excited to finally get a chance to dine there. To be honest, I don’t watch cooking shows, and have never seen his reality tv show about cooking, but I know he is quite popular.

First off, it’s not easy to get to if you drive, so I suggest taking an Uber or Taxi that drops you off in front of Caesars, as it literally is on the sidewalk part of the Strip. To say it was PACKED is an understatement. I wasn’t crazy about how close all the tables were to each other and how loud it was. Lots of young people, so I get it, but I usually prefer a less boisterous environment for dining.

I started with a cocktail “Smoke on the Blvd” with Elijah Craig small batch instead of the Bulleit rye. It was very delicious with a fun presentation – see video 😚 And, sadly to be honest, that was the best part of the experience, other than the company. 

I ordered the Pan Seared Scallops and the Crispy Skin Salmon- they were both good, but nothing to write home about. I guess my expectations were kind of high, because of all the hype. My dining partner said that The Beef Wellington, that Ramsay is famous for, was kind of cold. So, that was disappointing to hear. Unfortunately, I think some of these famous chefs get too big, have too many restaurants and become less special and more ordinary. 😕 Luckily, there are so many amazing restaurant options in Las Vegas!

Friday meetings...

When negotiating with a promising nylon company, I found that the best tactic was to pull out my aces or legs in this case. It's amazing how the conversation shifts as do lots of seats in the room. Hmmm, I bet numbers were not at the forefront of their thoughts. We're still quibbling over distribution, but I feel confidant that my signature line of stockings will be a hot seller. What do you think? 😄 💋

This is such a perfect set for today because the weather has finally dropped below 100 degrees for the high today and I'm in such a good mood. The air was crisp this morning for my run and I'm getting excited about getting out many of my stockings that I keep for fall and winter. I know it may only be temporary, but today it feels great. 💋

It's Friday!!!

You know what that means...let's get ready for the weekend. You're not fooling me sitting over there pretending to read the paper. You've been on the same page forever. At least rattle the pages, lol. Don't even get up and start over here. I'm not ready yet and when you start, we'll never get out of here. No...I don't need a drink and you need to behave. 😉 💋

Stanton Social Prime

It was so much fun to try this restaurant inside of Caesars Palace! Stanton Social Prime is a twist on the normal Steakhouse. They have so many interesting options, that it was really difficult to make a decision on what to try. So, the decision was made to try lots of the shareables. 

But first, a cocktail 😉

I decided on the Trillionaire and it was excellent. It’s a version of a whiskey sour using Old Forester Bourbon. The plates we decided on was the Shrimp Cocktail, Truffle Tots, Manicotti & Wagyu Meatballs, and one of their most reviewed and popular dishes, Famous French Onion Soup Dumplings. Wow! Was it all so delicious!!! I enjoyed them all very much, but the dumplings were extremely tasty and unique. They are served in an escargot dish, and you scoop out all the cheesy goodness. 

Having visited so many steakhouses in Las Vegas, this was an unexpected treat- everything from the décor, the details on the menus, the service and the way they presented the bill- Pay to Play along with a prescription.🤣 I would highly recommend. The dessert menu was looked at, but there were Dominque Ansel pastries back in the room to enjoy!

Had to go back a long way for these. Sometimes, I don't even know who that girl is. If I could talk to my younger self, I would tell her to relax. I could never have imagined how things would progress. I'm very grateful I didn't let fear or discouragement stand in the way and I have to thank all of you for helping me grow and flourish. 💋

Before I go out in public, I always like to check my garters. It's completely embarrassing to be walking into a restaurant and have one of my stockings around my knees. I think I'm good to go. What do you think? 💋

Papi Steak

Papi Steak is one of the newer steakhouses in Las Vegas, located inside the new Fountainbleu Hotel on the strip. I was able to try it recently and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is beautiful, the food delicious and the service stellar. Make sure to try one of their specialties….the truffle corn. It was so good! I also got to witness their amazing Tomahawk experience that happened at a neighboring table. It is quite the show if you go with a group and can eat all 55 ounces! 😁

The new hotel is lovely as well, very beautiful and spacious, so make sure to bring your walking shoes. There are also many other restaurants to explore, so I am looking forward to trying them all.

(Their Irish selection is not great, so I had a favorite Angels Envy ) Cheers!  🥃 💋
