I have drawn some personal art in this style, which I am calling “Flat Color Character Art” (Or Finished Sketch + Flat Colors) in my price list, but have yet to do a commission in the style until now ^^ I quite enjoy it! I noted that, in my personal art I have done like this, it is a pretty good balance between time to make and final results! I won’t be surprised if I end up doing quite a few of these as commissions in the future!

As a lot of things I draw, this was supposed to be an experimental sketch XD Then it turned into experimental inks, then experimental colors, and now it’s done haha. Pretty happy with how it looks! It has some shading and anatomy weirdness, but that’s kind of what happens when you finish a drawing you didn’t plan to lol. ___
I have a few commissions in progress that I should have worked on instead of this. But when it has been weeks and weeks since I made a finished drawing, I feel bad going right into commissions when I feel rusty. (Especially with inking and coloring.) So this was really a warm up drawing before I get back to streaming and commissions.
Really wanted to get this posted for Patreon in January :| I would have finished a week ago, but I have been having a lot of neck and back pain with fatigue and mild fever. Made it hard to sit and draw at all. You know what that means. Yep, I got covid a 2nd time :| First time was October 2020. This time I was vaccinated though. So instead of being like last time, spending 2 weeks in bed feeling like death and losing taste and smell for months, I’ve barely noticed I was sick so far. If it wasn’t for my ongoing neck/back issues getting aggravated, and unvaccinated people I know getting super sick just like last time we all had it, I probably wouldn’t have noticed/checked I was sick at all tbh. Really thankful this time is different! I’ll still be trying to take it easy until it is 100% gone. (Though yesterday and today I already feel better.)
If all goes smooth, I will try to stream later in the week, and will get to finishing up the commissions in progress! Thank you all here on Patreon for the patience and all as I have slowly gotten back into drawing in January! February will have more posts than this one!

Note for patreon: I didn’t originally draw this with a nsfw version, but I couldn’t help myself and edited one in at the very end. So that is why it’s not in the WIPs and timelapse and all that ^^ Will only be posting that version on patreon! ___

In this drawing, Aravi has a modified version of the Dragon Aspect shout from Skyrim. (In the game it is a shout you learn that adds a magic layer of dragon scales to your character as armor.) Here it is also modified to add some cool dragon-styled wings ^^ And since they are magic wings, I added some blade-like parts on the tips so they can be used as weapons too!
Overall it was a pretty fun drawing to work on! The wing and armor effects were a bit tricky, but I really like final results of the drawing :D _____________________

Illustration commissioned by Bruma of his Ethiopian Wolf character!
About the scene here: During his travels, Bruma was ambushed and knocked unconscious by a group of marauding slave-traders. When he later awoke, he found himself in the barracks of what seemed to be a prison. He had been stripped of his gear, his neck shaved and collared, and he was wearing nothing more than a simple leather loincloth. However, he quickly discovered it was worse than he had thought: he was now a battle slave for the entertainment of nobility. Shortly after, he was given a hearty but basic meal, a set of heavily worn leather armor, and a sword. When they evaluated him, they determined he was already a seasoned warrior, so he was quicky thrust into the fighting ring as the newest addition to a Leonine minister's gladiatorial team. (Being clearly admired for his (to them) exotic species of wolf.) Shown here is the start of the battle in a noble’s private courtyard, where Bruma has taken a defensive stance while sizing up his opponent. ______
I quite enjoyed working on this one, the theme and setting is a perfect fit for what I love to draw! The background is inspired by Roman architecture, and kind of similar to my Taria setting. The armor is pretty close to references provided to me by Bruma, but similar to ones I have drawn in the past ^^ I’m always a fan of more simple but detailed armor, and worn leather armor is always fun :D
I think drawing an Ethiopian Wolf is a first for me, but he was one of my favorite canine species to work on so far! Their head shape is similar to coyotes, which are the canine species I am most familiar with drawing. The fur pattern is also pretty easy to manage, kind of caracal-like, and I really like the fur color :) Goes quite well with my shading technique!
And drawing lightly-clothed and strong warrior anthros never gets old :P _____________________

My cheetah characters, the twins Lue’maar (left) and Ti’maar (right). Lue’ just wants to hang out, seems cool right? I wonder why Ti’ seems so concerned about you joining him…
I’ve actually been making some changes to Lue’maar as a character. Trying to make him less cartoon-villain evil and just more of a normal person level of bad XD More details will come later, I actually started work on his ref sheet, that will be pretty much the exact same as his identical twin’s ref sheet. Adapting the figure drawings and background and changing up the details and clothing for Lue’. Might be a while before it is done though!

In my last post I mentioned that I wanted to continue to experiment with rougher sketch-like drawings that were just ink and flat colors. This one is another attempt at that! I really enjoyed working on the 2 I’ve tried! This one is a bit more polished looking, probably because it is my comfort zone cheets, but I still put much less strain into drawing it.
Usually I am very “try hard” with my art, but these two I have tried to relax and not take it so seriously. It feels a lot different to work on art that way. I was expecting these to be really rough and to not look all that good, but I think the results are much better than I anticipated. Perhaps it is the case that I shouldn’t be trying so hard, because squeezing out that last little bit of quality takes most of the drawing’s effort and it changes my attitude towards art… who knows XD
I will say that I like the look of these a lot more than ones I have done before that were inks and some greyscale shading. The flat colors takes pretty much the same amount of time and effort as those do, so I think I’ll try to work more on this style instead of that one. And nice part is that if in the future I want to, I can just add shading to my favorites out of these sketches and then the drawing is “done.” I’m still avoiding doing that right off the bat, because it gets me into the perfectionist mindset that kinda sucks the fun out of these personal drawings. (and it stops me from starting the drawing in the first place.) My relationship with art has kinda soured the year or two, so I hope this continues to help :)
So I will do more personal art in this style and leave the shading and polishing for art that is more refined from the start, like the one I did a couple months ago. I really want to do more silly/fun sketches like this, character interactions and such, and some more world building! Considering these don’t take all that long especially. This one was like 8 hours plus a couple hours for some experiments to the style. I actually had it mostly done weeks ago, but got distracted doing other stuff like moving to Windows 11 on my PC and fixing my crappy internet situation (that is all solved now thankfully, and much improved!) Back to the arting haha.

Quick poll about something. I do random small sketches and doodles here and there, and end up being really lazy about compiling sketch dumps and then have these massive sketch dumps to make. I don't mean finished sketches like I just posted, I plan on making those more often anyways, which includes WIPs and timelapses and stuff on those. The ones I'm talking about would just be a random image of the sketches, probably patrons only. (Posting multiple places is a lot of extra work so they would just go here, maybe later on twitter or something.)
I attached an example.
My question is: How would you all feel about me just randomly posting these rough sketches and doodles here? (frequency of like once or twice a week at most)

This is an experimental sketch! It is inked, but done quite quickly, and without my typical level of obsessive perfectionism XD So a bit rough around the edges, but I still think it looks pretty good :) Really trying to find a “finished sketch style” that is a good balance of quality, speed, and fun. Also, unlike the last one of these I did, I decided to try out going with flat colors (no shading) instead of the minimal black and white shading. Both take around the same amount of time to do. I think I am liking the look of the flat colors sketch style more…
I’m going to try a full-body sketch in this style next to see how that looks, it is part-way done already. Really looking to get to doing more sketches. I already do finished personal art rarely because it is pretty exhausting and pushes the limit of my attention span XD Kinda why I don’t post that much anymore (among other reasons.) I have a LOT of things I want to draw with my characters and setting and stuff, but most of it would just be a waste of time to make as a fully finished drawing tbh. I’d rather save that for the stuff I can be super proud like my recent illustrations. The approach to these is a lot more relaxed, something I have been lacking with my drawing and it’s kind of stressing me out XD Personal art is supposed to be more fun than that haha. (and in the end, if I ever feel like finishing any of these, at least all I’d have to do is clean it up and add shading lol)

Some brief context on this one :) Lieutenant Kesh (on the left) had a rough past. She was genetically engineered and is very strong, along with some other engineered abilities. Years in the past, her crew was attacked by an evil doppelganger of herself. It scarred her to see ‘herself’ attacking people in pure rage, when she too struggles to control her engineered rage. So now whenever she is sick or weakened, her mind visualizes the evil mirror side of her as that past version of her (before she changed her appearance) trying to break through the fragile mental barrier that she has in place to keep it contained inside. This illustration shows her mind in such a situation.

It is always fun to do Star Trek themed drawings :) Have done a few Caitian ones here and there! Star Trek is probably my favorite series and has been since I was a kid haha. Enjoyed working on this one here with the characters, environment, and the uniforms :D Very nostalgic haha

Birthday gift art for my good friend 0laffson :D This is his character Enorach! ^^
0laffson has been a huge inspiration for me since I started drawing years ago, and I have always loved his characters (especially Enorach!) So I wanted to go all out with this drawing and try to make something really fancy XD Really had a great time drawing his spotted fluff cat :P ___
This one ended up taking quite a while to make, mainly since I started with a really detailed line art covering all that foliage. But I really love the level of detail it has in the end! Super happy with it overall :D Totally worth the extra time!
Also this gives me ideas for other artwork in this “classical painting” theme XD Some with my cheets perhaps :P We’ll see haha. _____________________

0laffson has been a huge inspiration for me since I started drawing years ago, and I have always loved his characters (especially Enorach!) So I wanted to go all out with this drawing and try to make something really fancy XD Really had a great time drawing his spotted fluff cat :P ___
This one ended up taking quite a while to make, mainly since I started with a really detailed line art covering all that foliage. But I really love the level of detail it has in the end! Super happy with it overall :D Totally worth the extra time!
Also this gives me ideas for other artwork in this “classical painting” theme XD Some with my cheets perhaps :P We’ll see haha. _____________________

Alpha Nika’maar admires one of her favorite personal servants… and perhaps he is admiring her back :P
(As always, both characters here are adults. My setting has relatively similar size differences, between the different species, to real life.)
People have been asking me to draw these two together again, and I finally got around to it haha. They are adorable :P I recently drew Nika’maar (here), but haven’t draw Bobcat Boi (his temporary name since I created him) in quite some time ^^ (previous time here) They both appeared together in an older drawing of mine named “Bathe” (here). I’ll leave the extent of their relationship up to imagination for now :P

Drawing wise, I did this one a bit different than normal. The color technique is the same as my last few drawings, but the line art was not done with a “clean inks” pass. I basically just cleaned up the sketch layer best I could and then colored that XD Not sure how much time that saved, but it does give the drawing a bit “looser” of a feel. It was kind of an overall experiment since I don’t typically draw that way. I think the result looks pretty similar in the end though. For when I do more sketches like this and then color them, it is nice to know that they would look alright if eventually colored XD

They are adorable :P I recently drew Nika’maar (here), but haven’t draw Bobcat Boi (his temporary name since I created him) in quite some time ^^ (previous time here) They both appeared together in an older drawing of mine named “Bathe” (here). I’ll leave the extent of their relationship up to imagination for now :P

Drawing wise, I did this one a bit different than normal. The color technique is the same as my last few drawings, but the line art was not done with a “clean inks” pass. I basically just cleaned up the sketch layer best I could and then colored that XD Not sure how much time that saved, but it does give the drawing a bit “looser” of a feel. It was kind of an overall experiment since I don’t typically draw that way. I think the result looks pretty similar in the end though. For when I do more sketches like this and then color them, it is nice to know that they would look alright if eventually colored XD

Here four Be’vaal commanders, each in charge of separate armies of the Wolf Alliance, meet to plan a unified battle to take an enemy city.
The characters are the following: On the left is General Tatt’khaa, daughter of the AWD Alphas and leader of one of the largest groups of joint AWD-Hyena forces. She is a new character I haven’t drawn before, but she is the first cousin of General Dirri who appears in the current comic (here) ^^ Also at this point in the timeline (a short time before the end of the war) she is in a relationship of sorts with Paladin Ti’maar.
Middle left is Paladin Areco’tavak, eldest living son of Great Alpha Praet’tavak (leader of the entire Wolf Alliance and head Alpha of the Council of the Alphas). Areco is the commander of half the Wolf forces which consists of many separate species, but mostly Wolves. Areco hasn’t appeared in a drawing since an older comic page (here), so I ended up re-designing the look of his character a bit :) Along with some fancy new armor and new fur pattern. But his character is mostly the same. He is very good friends with Paladin Ti’maar, as they are around the same age (Areco is 1 year older) and they grew up together (mostly). He is also very close to Alpha Ra’maar, and thinks of him like a wise old uncle haha.
Middle right is Alpha Ra’maar, Co-Alpha of the Cheetah Territories in the Wolf Alliance. He is officially over the Cheetah forces, but also supervises other armies along with the other Alphas. Directly he leads 1/3 of the Cheetah forces, which contains multiple species in his territory. He has recently appeared in drawings along side his Co-Alpha Nika’maar (here) and the most recent comic page (here). In this scene he would actually be the one in charge; because though he is above in rank and below in caste to the Wolf Areco (so they would be considered equals in social status and rank), he has Areco beaten by far in experience, having almost 20 years more military experience than him. (Alphas pretty much always outrank everyone else, besides other Alphas)
On the right is Paladin Ti’maar, eldest son of Alpha Ra’maar and Alpha Nika’maar. Along with his parents, he directly commands 1/3 of the Cheetah forces. But it is very common for him to work jointly with his father and mother, and often with at least a few other armies (such as Areco’s forces). Since he is my “main character” I draw him quite often; he has a ref sheet (here), was in a recent comic page (here), and has some recent solo art (here) ^^

As always happens, I wanted to make this drawing a finished sketch XD But after I inked it and started doing some shading, I was far too tempted to color it and couldn’t resist. So I did :P I wanted to have a chance to try out the newer coloring technique that I have been using on a full background scene ^^ I really like this drawing XD It’s fun to see the different characters and species together ^^ Downside is it took a long time, probably 28 hours or so, like a whole week of work with streaming lol. But I think it was worth it :)

Just like the last drawing I posted, the one that had his mother Nika’maar (here), it has been quite some time since I drew my character Lue’maar! Last time I drew Lue’ was this time last year and it was alongside his twin brother Ti’maar (drawing here). Unlike the other drawing, which had her in her full personal armor, I think this armor that he is wearing in this is just some sparring armor they had around. Eventually when I make him a ref sheet, like the one I made for his twin brother Ti’ (here), I will design Lue’ his own custom armor set like Nika’ and Ti’ have ^^ And while Lue’ and Ti’ typically use spears as their main weapon, they also use a kind of kukri as their sword. So in this he is using a blunt sparring equivalent of his personal sword along with a shield :)

I really love how these last few drawings have looked in general :D Been really enjoying getting new art made :)

And for the nude version, I think it is probably more likely he would be wearing a loincloth like his mother would be. However, I wouldn’t doubt Lue’ would be more than comfortable without anything on at all XD Considering I’m sure he trains and exercises without anything on usually, I thought I’d make an alt showing that haha. Or it’s possible he was just passing by like that at home in the palace and decided to join in a spur of the moment sparring match and just threw on some armor :P

Another drawing with my character Alpha Nika’maar :D In my original world she is the Cheetah Alpha which means she is basically the queen of the cheetah territories in the Wolf Alliance. (Co-ruler with her mate Alpha Ra’maar) Here is a previous drawing with both of them! She also the mother of my twin characters Ti’maar and Lue’maar ^^
Been quite some time since I have drawn her in armor. (last time) So I figured she deserved an updated one XD This drawing is part one of a pair of drawings! The second one is an opposite view, showing her eldest son Lue’maar (also in some armor) sparring with her :P And after I post that one I will post a 3rd post with the both of these drawings side by side with some back and forth dialogue XD I thought it would a fun little pair of drawings to make with my characters that haven’t had their own images in ages.

This drawing was originally supposed to be a sketch (of course), so there are multiple versions of it. I will likely post them separately on my social media sites. One has her in most of her full armor (minus the helmet, toe guards, padded armor sleeves, and some other pieces) and the other is a partial armor with loincloth version that is the “canon” one for the scene. That one she would actually be wearing in a friendly sparring session with her son :P
I also updated the overall design of her armor to bring it in line with the other Be’vaal Cheetah elite’s armor I have designed more recently (like Ti’s.) I’m really happy with the look it has here! BTW, Nika’s armor and Ti’s armor are not something the common or even mid-high rank Be’vaal soldier would have. It is basically the best human-made armor that the Be’vaal can get through trade with them (with the Be’vaal-specific design elements of course.) Only the more wealthy of the soldiers can afford it. All the members of house ‘Maar can afford similar ones, but the Alphas have pretty much the best ones XD
The sparring sword she has here is blunted, and is about the same size and weight as her usual two-handed sword! It has a small weight in the end actually because her normal sword (seen in the old image of her in armor) has a flare at the end with spikes. So this one needed a weight to replicate the feel of her usual sword, without being as dangerous, while sparring XD
I think that’s all I have to say about it XD I hope you all enjoy the updated design :) I’m no armor expert by any means, nor care to be, but I try to make them seem realistic at least haha. The cheets need protec :P

A very large illustration XD One of the largest ones I have made! Another one for Raptorzs that is in a sci-fi setting (previous one), but this time in a Star Wars theme :) While I’m not too used to working on sci-fi artwork, I really love them! It was great to be able to paint things like space, a planet and glowing lights like the lightsaber XD Took me quite a while to complete this one. Working off and on I think I started it in February, so it took a few months ^^ But Raptorzs is very patient, and I greatly appreciate that :)
In the end I’m really proud of the results with this one :D One of my favorite large illustrations I’ve made ^^ Ended up quite polished and detailed, even more than my paintings usually are! For this one I decided to make a very clean line art of the whole thing first before painting, and it made the painting process so much smoother. I’ll certainly continue doing it that way on future lineless paintings :) ---
And in case people were wondering, I tend not to do commissions in copyrighted properties like this usually. One like this are more alright with me, because there is really no branding, logos, copyrighted original characters or species, etc. But I’m still a bit careful with it. I’ve flat out refused commission requests to do many things with copyrighted properties or species, so please keep that in mind if you are requesting a commission from me :) Thank you!

Small update here to go along with the sketchdump that I just posted :) As you may have noticed, March and April I really didn't post a whole lot... I was sick for a good part of this month, and have been getting caught up on alot of stuff. Both art related and not.
For that reason, I'm going to be pausing patron billing for next month! (I think it would usually be charging in 5 or 6 days.) I feel really guilty taking patron payments if I'm not posting anything, so I won't! So if you are still pledged when the next month rolls over this week, you won't be charged the usual monthly amount from my patreon ^^ No action needed on your part! You will still receive the benefits for whatever I post next month!
But don't worry about me disappearing haha. Besides me getting sick, I had a bit of a "scare" for a couple weeks when my internet got too slow to live stream drawing, but I managed to fix it for now! Sketch dump compilation from January 2021 through current day (May 2021)!
(Repeated from part 1) Been a long time since I put together one of these sketch dumps! They are kind of a hassle to make, with all the CLIP files separate. That’s why it’s been a while since I put one together :P I have to copy over the sketches I like and slowly sort through them all XD But they are fun to look at in the end! (and if I didn’t make them, all the drawings would disappear forever lol)
Been a lot happier with my sketches in 2021, and especially this month. I’ve enjoyed getting back to making them :) I really miss back in the early days where I would sketch an hour or two a day. It’s nice to just sketch with no expectations! A lot of creativity, exploration, and play comes when I sketch these. I really think that my rapid improvement early on in my art learning is due to the amount of sketching I did, it is very helpful :)
Not only do I want to do more of these, but I really need to make the sketch dumps more frequently XD Because they pile up and then it is a very daunting task to make a sketch dump, and it ends up far too long. (I think I spent 8 hours or so putting this and part 1 together!) I look to have another posted before the end of the year, maybe sooner :)

--- Decided after a while that I didn’t really like the format of Ti’s original Ref Sheet I made back in 2019. The text was just too much of a pain to work with in Clip Studio and made the image too massive. Also decided that the drawings didn’t look very good anymore and they needed re-drawn. The flat colors were far too saturated as well. So here is the re-made version of the ref sheet XD _____
Most of the text is now gone. While most of it is still canon to the character, it will be moved to a wiki site that I am working on. Much more pleasant to read it that way. The Bio information was updated with a few more details, with others removed.
The drawings are now far better. I quickly didn’t like how his face looked in the past one. Now I’m really happy with it ^^ The clothes were not changed a ton, but it was a lot of work to resize and fix the clothing to the new anatomy XD Probably not much faster than if I had just re-made it all lol. Oh well. Re-doing part of old art is always a pain haha
Hopefully this will actually be more usable as a ref sheet now XD
I do still want to make more ref sheets of my other characters. Likely using the same background here as a template to save time ^^ Since I want to make these with various sized characters, I’m making them on a neutral gray background bubble of sorts. That way they can be scaled up or down and they can be separate from the background. Makes it easier to judge the colors too. I plan on making one of Ti’s identical twin brother Lue’maar by re-using a lot of the art here XD A little lazy, but they look virtually identical. Just different spots and markings. And I want to make one of Khay right after that XD These things takes ages and are a ton of work, so not sure how soon I’ll do the next one... _____
Some setting lore notes:
Those aren’t real ears coming out of the helmet, they are fake decoration ears put on top, and there are small holes for hearing underneath. Makes cats look less ridiculous while wearing a helmet, while protecting the ears still :P And about the armor, he only has a nice set of armor because he is wealthy, other Be’vaal soldiers aren’t typically so lucky. Also, I didn’t draw it here, but there is an optional piece of tail armor he can wear that is an extension of his padded cloth armor.
There is a new wrapping on the base of his tail. I made some new lore stating that traditionally all Be’vaal wear a symbolic wrapping at the base of their tail if they don’t have a “mate” yet. Be’vaal aren’t monogamous technically, but within their “house” (basically a tribe, consisting of multiple bloodlines all at once (around 50-200 people), under one “house name”. Such as house Maar here.) they have a single person typically assigned to them for the sole purpose of reproduction and continuing the house. During war time they are usually mated earlier, but outside war time they usually do in their early 20s. Ti’maar has yet to be assigned a mate yet because he will one day be the Cheetah Alpha and his mate will be the Co-Alpha with him. There is a lengthy process and ceremony that goes along with selecting a new Co-Alpha, so it takes extra time. And while his mate will be from outside house Maar since he is a special case being Alpha, about half the time they are mated from outside or within the same house as long as it’s not from the same maternal blood line (Mother, her sister’s children, grandmother. First cousins on the mother’s side are called sisters to the Be’vaal). Male with female mating within the same house is forbidden aside with their assigned mates. But besides that, outside the house and all else is freely permitted and socially encouraged. This is the family structure for almost all Be’vaal. (More will be said about this in a wiki page, when I get around to making it XD )
Also under his name in the middle is his full official name in the Be’vaal tongue. “Pataand Ti’maar-tohn”. Basically it means “Paladin Ti’ of House Maar of the Cheetahs”. The ruling house has a formal name that includes the name of their species added to the house name. In Be’vaal cheetah is “Tohn”. And the Chief-Alpha (the Wolf Alpha) has an even longer name with ‘vaal added to it haha. “Alaapand Praet'tavak-tof’ta-vaal”
For the NSFW version: I decided to include an example of his erection, because I needed to better define the design XD It’s kind of a mix between feline and human shapes. I don’t think it has as many barbs a real feline, but they are still present. And I’m not sure if they are usually sharp, but the feline Be’vaal ones aren’t very. While they are blunted, they still are hard and protrude, so they surely aren’t super comfortable lol. And his erect size is quite large for a Be’vaal cheetah, they tend to be smaller than human averages. The Be’vaal canines are a lot larger by comparison haha.
