A Shoot of Self Love - Saggy Body

Hey you!

I hope you're doing well!

This morning I still didn't have anything for this week's shoot of self love and was ready to give up. I've been taking self portraits (almost) every week for more than a year and I'm starting to get a bit fed up. Even if I know all the benefits behind this project, all I want to do lately is to help others in their Self Love journey and forget a bit about myself.

But I also know that to help others, I have to keep going, keep experimenting and keep creating.

Today, Aline from @thebboost posted something about how it's important to keep showing up, even when we're not at our best. And it motivated me enough to get ready for these god damn self portraits.

So while I was preparing my set, I started wondering how I could help people in their Self Love Journey through these pictures and I remembered how important it is to offer a different representation than what we see in medias. This is what I love in my work and this is what people love in my work as well. This is exactly why I have to keep going. These self portraits aren't just for me, but for everyone who feel inspired to love themselves a bit more everytime they look at them.

So these pictures are a Love Letter to my saggy body and all saggy bodies. We don't have to be validated by mainstream medias to be wonderful as we are.

A Shoot of Self Love - Halloween

I hope you have a spooky time!

I'm just passing by to show you my Halloween self portraits and tell you a bit about them!

Okay so long story short, a friend of mine opened a private tattoo shop in a collective space that used to be a Jesus House (aka a Chapel). I offered to help her out for something with pictures this weekend and thought it would be perfect to take her portraits in this beautiful spot. 

It's only the night before that I realized that Halloween was coming up this Shoot of Self Love Day (aka Sunday) and that I didn't really have an idea that really suited the theme, especially I have to confess that I'm not a super Halloween fan. Every year I try to try, but it always end up being a big fail for me...

Okay so let's get back to these freaking photos. Suddenly my two brain cells did a handshake and it clicked! A few days ago I bought cheesy angel wings for kids, without really knowing what to do with them. And the Chapel was the perfect decor for Halloween portraits! Let's be a cute Angel this year!!!

I almost forgot that the room I wanted to shoot in was on top of super freaky stairs AND the whole floor was just see through glass. So not only I was super scared (did I mention I have a fear of heights?), but anyone who entered the building could see me jumping around naked...

Like if I wasn't scared enough of having to pose on this god damn glass floor, I forgot my remote! Which means that I had to go back and forth between my camera and the posing spot for each photo!

Of course there is a few stuff I wish I did better in the final result of these pictures, but I'm super proud of expanding my comfort zone a bit more today :)

I'm currently in the process of hiring an assistant to help me out with the organization part of my job, to be able to focus more on the creative side. I'm super excited and I hope it'll turn out well :) I would like to have more room for illustration in my professional life in the future and maybe finding a healthy balance between my favorite art mediums :)

I posted a sample of this series a little while ago on Instagram, but I didn't talk about how this photoshoot made me feel. 

Lately, it's been hard to appreciate with my body for several reasons, and being able to find myself beautiful again through these pictures is such a great feeling. By extension, and paired with other factors helping, of course, I can look at myself in the mirror again, as well as feel confident in public space. That's why I absolutely love Shoot of Self Love and I highly encourage everyone to give it a try!

Illustration - Inktober

Hey you!

How are you doing? I hope you're experiencing good things lately, and if it's a bit harder that you don't forget how amazing you are.

This past while, I went through a succession of extremely hard moments, and all I could do was drawing, so here are a few of my illustrations. 

But I think the worse of this whole nightmare is behind me for now, that I've learnt what I had to learn during this chapter and I'm ready to move on to a new version of myself.

I feel joy again, more often than not, I feel motivation knocking at my door gently, and hope by its side. I missed all of this so freaking much. I missed seeing a smile on my face, I missed dancing while doing my dishes, I missed making jokes.

I've been recording myself through this huge storm and I may make a video about it at some point.

But for now, it's time to get back to my amazing job. I'm planning on editing your pictures asap, as well as making more post on here, aaaaand getting back to A Shoot of Self Love as soon as this week!!

A Shoot of Self Love - Sculpt me like one of your greek girls.

I hope you're doing well and you got good news lately or if not, that they are on your way :)

Today I wanted to share with y'all the Shoot of Self Love of the week and tell you a bit more about it.

Lately, I'm going through some shit and it honestly makes it a bit harder for me to focus on the good, in and out of myself. These weekly shoots of self love are usually helping a lot for my self confidence, but for the first time I stopped the session really shortly, because I couldn't look at myself no more. It was pretty complicated to see what I looked like and the kind of art I was making... I felt like dogshit.

But because I wanted to finish what I started, I uploaded the pictures on my computer, expecting to hate them even more... So what was my surprise when I saw these?!!

They are obviously not perfect, either I am, but I'm not looking for perfection so we're all good. 

Next time I'm convinced to be complete turd, I'll try to remember these pictures and give myself a bit more credit. And I hope you will as well!

Photoshoot - Romane ♥️

Today I wanted to honor my wonderful Daisy, Romane. 

We met during her session in January and I feel very lucky she trusted me enough to come all the way to my city to embrace herself in front of my camera. 

It is a privilege that my job offers me the opportunity to meet wonderful people in such a magical way. In 3hours, these humans I knew nothing about right before happen to show me some of their most vulnerable sides in just about 3hours. And like if it wasn't enough, I get the chance to make art out of it for a living! 🤯🤯🤯

Let's get back to Romane. She was blooming more and more through the session and I really hope this photoshoot helped her see how she really is. ♥ 

Fun fact: she is such a cool human that we kept in touch and even came back all the way to my city to hangout this summer :)

A Shoot of Self Love - J'ai vu rouge

Today, I'm back with a self portrait series that I personally really like.

To be honest, I'm not feeling my best lately. I've been focusing too much on external validation and not enough on inner validation, which made me feel more and more like I was suffocating. I think as human beings we can't completely relay on one or another and we can find a healthy balance. Self portraiture helps me with that.

I've been missing myself lately and I needed to find this facet of me again. So I took the time to reconnect with my sensuality, one picture at a time. 

And it feels good.

Self portraiture isn't a magic trick. It won't solve all my problems at once. But gosh, everytime I click on this button, I can feel its benefits immediately. So once again, I highly encourage you to do it as well if you're feeling off.

J'espère que vous allez bien et que l'été s'annonce prometteur par chez vous?

Pour être complètement transparente avec vous, j'ai personnellement beaucoup de mal à travailler ces temps ci. La prise de vue me fait toujours autant vibrer, mais étant toute seule au four et au moulin, je me disperse de plus en plus facilement, et la motivation s'éfrite. C'est pas très grave, c'est le jeu et il est impossible d'être constant dans ce genre de dynamique. Alors j'essaye tant bien que mal de trouver des stratagèmes pour me forcer à en faire autant que possible, à tenir la cadence et à redevenir inspirée, mais c'est malheureusement souvent en vain.

Alors je suis sincèrement désolée si je prends du retard sur les choses que je suis censée rendre/partager/publier. Je suis un peu paumée mais promis je travaille dessus!

Bref, tout ça pour vous montrer des photos que j'ai pris de la sublime Julia lors de mon passage à Paris. J'ai tout de suite été émue par les courbes de ses bouclettes et sa palette de couleur. C'est sûrement une déformation professionnelle, mais je suis très sensible aux palettes de couleur des gens... je n'y peux rien!

Julia, si tu passes par là, j'espère vraiment que tu pourras te voir un peu plus comme je te vois, parce que tu es divine et il est grand temps que tu t'en aperçoives :)

I hope you are doing well and that the summer looks promising for you?

To be completely transparent with you, I personally have a lot of trouble working these days. The shooting part of my job still makes me vibrate as much as usual, but being all alone in the oven and in the mill, I disperse more and more easily, and the motivation crumbles. It's not a big deal, it's the game and it's impossible to be constant in this kind of dynamic. So I try as best I can to find ploys to force myself to do as much as possible, to keep up the pace and to become inspired again, but unfortunately it is often in vain.

So I'm sincerely sorry if I fall behind on the things I'm supposed to return / share / post. I'm a little lost, but I promise I'm working on it!

In short, all this to show you the photos I took of the sublime Julia during my stay in Paris. I was immediately moved by the curves of her curls and her color palette. It's surely a professional twist, but I'm very sensitive to people's color palettes ... I can't help it!

Julia, if you read this, I really hope that you can see yourself a little more as I see you, because you are divine and it is high time that you noticed it :)
