So many things that I want to address with this video! So much of what you see here is experimental, and expands my horizons as an artist.
I think it's interesting/ funny/ironic that physical fitness has become a series of things we do. Reps of a given motion that increase or maximize an aesthetic. To think that not long ago, human kind looked a certain way out of necessity of survival....
Additionally, this is an experiment in perspective. The fisheye lens is capable of encompassing the entire space. Giving the viewer the full feel of the space that I occupy.
Third, is the use of time-lapse. In the first clip, speeding up the footage. In the following clip, an actual time-lapse available to my iPhone.
Lastly, the drawing of a line. Which comes only after my arms feel like limp noodles. This is a practice that comes through time from Sol Lewitt, the father of conceptual art. Through the practice at Tom Sachs' studio: doing pushups to the point of failure and then drawing a line. When the arms feel like spaghetti.
