Another excellent video, thanks. Definitely saved the best for last with the mint chocolate pudding and the pizza.

The chips looked far too crisp for a school dinner, they should be slightly soggy for authenticity 😂 The top of the line school pudding had to be Eton Mess, not that us plebs got that in state schools, sponge or fruit crumble and custard or jelly (jello) with sprinkles was the norm.

Wow! The English have us beat when it comes to school meals...I love how much thought is given to the dessert, we just had ice cream sandwiches.

Thanks for a fun part 2 !!

Growing up in the 80s/90s I got really lucky with the school meals I think. There was no "healthy food" push back then, it was basically stuff you might have at home. Back then our dinner ladies tended to do double duty work, in the mornings they'd be in the kitchen making lunch (and yes I said MAKING not reheating) then at lunch times they were either serving the meals or doing playground duty. But the majority of our meals were made/baked in house. So fish fingers, chips, beans, bacon, burgers, sausages, pizza squares or triangles, chicken breasts. Pretty much anything you can think of was probably done in my schools at some time. Our kitchens never had set meals per day, you couldn't go to the dining hall and see a meal sheet for the week or anything and we didn't have X on X day. They made what they made and you find out when you get there at lunch. There were no real options with our meals either, it was either a yes or no to each element. But no alternates. My personal favourite in High School was the home made meat & potato pies. You could always tell the home made ones because of the type of pastry used. Naturally the best meal was the last meal of the calendar year because it was always a Christmas Dinner. Turkey with all the trimmings.

Many thanks .Good times ..

"You can't go wrong with fries" says Alanna. Well, my old secondary school somehow managed to do just that, since theirs were the worst chips/fries I've ever had.

Fish Friday wasn't only Catholic Schools, they nearly all did it, I always felt sorry for the small number of Jewish pupils at the schools I attended as no provision was made for their dietary requirements. I can remember at one school where the pupils formed a queue at the form teachers desk to hand in their dinner money on a Monday and one teacher always spoke out loud "so and so, ten shillings, five meals, so and so, free meals vouchers." as the pupil sheepishly sloped off, red faced. I handed a cheque into the office at the start of term for the whole term. Sometimes Dad made a mistake and made the cheque out for the wrong amount, no refund if too much but a note to take home if insufficient.

I loved this Patreon Part Two follow-up on Friday's YouTube video...😊👍

'Things i still do as a North American after living in England for 7 years', cut my food up and then transfer the fork to my right hand! Love this video, well done the butler.

The only things missing were beef mince (with mashed potato and marrowfat peas) and ‘green’ curry (not Thai green curry - Indian curry that was a deep green colour). I agree with all of the other comments - kudos to the Butler for raising the quality of every meal there!

I commented yesterday on the YT video that my fave school pudding was chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce (aka custard)...and lo and behold it very nearly appeared today!! School dinners got a lot more fun since my day though...never a chip to be seen in my entire 6 years in primary school, only lumpy mash or roasts.

You just need to work it off by running around the playground for a bit - maybe have a game of British Bulldog.

I’m having my first day at my new job today and I watched this for my break which was nice, it was fun to watch, thank you for the video!

Great video, love the more casual (loose tie) look for Patreon. 😂 I don't recall dinners in high school, they may not have had a canteen and been all packed lunches, I do recognise some of these from primary school, the burgers and pizza would've been after my time but most of the "puddings" are pretty familiar. As other people have mentioned, we always had fish on Friday (Catholic School).

I’m not sure how I feel about mint chocolate custard… I like mint choc but in custard?!?! 🤔 I’ll say it again, I feel the butler is a much better cook than those making school dinners lol Pizza van!!! 😂

Gem

Those custard-related desserts are so reminiscent of school meals. I'm sure I hadn't seen the coconut/jam cake from yesterday's video since leaving school. Inspired theme for the videos Alanna! Thanks for the memories! 😃

I think it is fair to say the Butler made the top end versions of all the dishes.
