December Book Club REVIEW!
Added 2020-12-31 14:01:00 +0000 UTCThis month I read The Alice Network - I really liked it! You can buy it here if you're interested. It's pretty thick and I didn't think I would be able to finish it in time, but I enjoyed it so much that I could easily read for a few hours each sitting.
I really liked that the book has 2 alternating stories - one during the First World War and one that takes place just after the Second World War finishes. I found that the characters were really unique and interesting, with a plot that was gripping.
There were a few more sex scenes than I originally anticipated - oops! But I really loved this book a lot! A solid 5/5 for me.
Did anyone else happen to read The Alice Network? Thoughts??

2021-01-02 15:33:34 +0000 UTCNot the sort of genre I would normally read but I really enjoyed it. Interesting story and characters. This is the nice thing about book clubs, you find great books you wouldn't normally read. Thanks for the suggestion.

2020-12-31 22:51:05 +0000 UTCI don't read a lot of novels. Unless graphic novels count. The last one I read this year was Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's The Hollow Ones. It's an occult detective book. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52594581-the-hollow-ones

2020-12-31 20:15:10 +0000 UTCI got it for my kindle and overall I enjoyed it a lot - I'm generally a slowish reader but found myself going back to it whenever I had a free moment so I raced through it which is a sign of a good book for me! As you say the characters were different to your average spy/war books and all the better for it. I found Eve's character fascinating as the link between the two stories but won't say more in case others want to read it. A solid 4.5/5 for me.
