Is Russia an Imperialist Power? Part 1

In this episode we respond to a listeners question about whether Russia is an imperialist country or not.  In order to do so we examine the development of imperialism in the 19th century, Tsarist Russia as both an imperialist power and one partially controlled by British and French imperialism. We also examine the effects of the counter revolution that destroyed the USSR and the attempt by the US imperialists to turn Russia into a vassal state.

Malthusian Origins

In this programme we consider the origins of the Malthusianism. Starting with Malthus and his two essays on population from 1798 and 1806 we then look at how these merged with bastardised Darwinism. The result was social Darwinism, an extremely reactionary strain of bourgeois thought that reflects the profound crisis of the capitalist system after 1860.
