I've been working a lot on Ermes's backstory during the last months and tbh, it feels like I'm crafting blown glass when it comes to him. Very beautiful and delicate, very prone to breaking, very sharp when it does. Damn, I love my son. It's really therapeutic to make him suffer. 😂

First pic is set in the present (hence the Owner key), second pic is a reminiscence of the past (before Dario came into his life). Everything that's implied there is very consensual. Doesn't mean Ermes was proud about it or about himself afterward. Doesn't mean he didn't keep on trying to find love in the arms of those who had none to offer.

(There's also a super secret third pic with no socks & garters but it's not time to reveal it yet 😌 Just get used to seeing Ermes naked except for his sexy ankles because sigh, my boy says socks stay ON during sex 💀)

Speaking of Unlock, Sasha suggested I do a short, spoiler-free playlist to let y'all vibe with the story, and I was thinking about making one about darmes specifically. Hello and sorry for having to take some time off while my eye healed 😭 I can assure you it was a miserable couple of days because I was itching to go back to draw AND I couldn't even read or watch TV much (for obvious reasons) or go outside to touch some grass (due to harsh lights and wind). Boy, I'm so glad it's over 🙈

Speaking of reading, who do we have here? And why is it always immortal idiots pining that do it for me??? And the hair color. Why is it always redheads and blonds? What is wrong with me, do I have a type, am I a serial killer

BRIEF UPDATE

Somehow, yesterday I injured my right eye 😩 It doesn't seem like anything too worrisome and it's looking better already, but I'll be taking it slow for a few days until I feel and see better. I'll keep you updated if anything changes, but I just hope to be able to go back to work soon!

I really like how this turned out, technically-wise... I'm constantly trying to find a way to color stuff that I force myself not to refine as much as my usual art so I can churn out stuff quicker. It's a fucking struggle because my standard setting is "squeaky clean lineart and solid colors" and I always find myself reverting back to it, but that's not sustainable for every artwork I do. 😭 So yeah, I think I'll try to vibe with this fresh watercolor technique for the pieces I want to keep more sketchy looking. We'll see If I manage!

Had this scene stuck in my head for a while. It should be the first time they have sex, after endless spiteful bickering and taunting by your Celeste truly, which had the desired effect of driving Naoki up a wall, making him break his marriage vows. It's not cute. Hate sex and insults are their love language at first, plus Naoki is... plain nasty and sexually frustrated. Things with his wife haven't been going well since forever, but he was too much of a pious and strict man to consider cheating... until now.

Celeste wouldn't have it any other way. He wants it as rough as Naoki can give it to him – he won't break so easily, after all. And yet, despite every snarky comment aimed at riling Naoki up ("Bet you couldn't fuck your wifey like this, huh?"), Celeste feels comfortable enough to stop him and share his preferences – something he never cared to point out to his previous owners. He knows Naoki would listen. He knows he can trust him, even if Naoki doesn't always trust his own self. Celeste can read him like a book, one he knows by heart.

Wall of text of TRIVIA you can skip but I highly recommend it to fuel the brainrot 🥺

- Celeste’s discomfort with vaginal penetration comes more from his backstory (🤐) rather than from dysphoria (though that obviously plays a part, too). He does like fingering and getting eaten out, and he’s the first one to use AFAB terms to refer to his bits, that’s why Naoki doesn’t hold his tongue in any sense of the term (ba dum tss). He’s extremely respectful of Celeste’s gender identity (if nothing else 💀), and that doesn’t change even when Celeste does everything inhumanly possible to get on his nerves.

- At this point in the story, Celeste still hasn’t even entertained the idea of gender-affirming surgery or hormonal therapy. Both would be nearly experimental on Vampires.

- Celeste is fluent in Japanese. He and Naoki talk the language when they don’t want to be understood by anyone else – especially on the job during investigations. They’re annoying like that.
While Celeste’s Italian (or well, English, since that’s how I’m writing the book) is colloquial, his Japanese sounds way more formal & polite, because he learned it in the past. It gives Naoki whiplash every time he hears it. The good kind. *wiggles eyebrows*

- Celeste often calls Naoki danna, which is a Japanese term formerly used by service people (eg geisha) to refer to their male patrons of higher status/authority. It can translate to ‘sir/master’ but also to ‘husband’ (someone else's or your own), as a legacy of feudal Japan where husbands were supposed to be the masters of the house and also providers to their wives & servants alike. It used to be a deferential word, but in modern Japanese it acquired a fond if not intimate meaning, especially since now it’s also used by hostesses and sex workers in a sort of ‘sugar daddy’ way. Celeste miiight not be aware of this last bit of information. Naoki is. Of course he is, the kinky bastard.
Btw, the first kanji that makes up danna is the one for ‘dawn’ (旦), which is incredibly fitting, once you realize I'm not being subtle at all with the whole endhawks/Icarus and the Sun reference.

- if you're curious about their sexuality, Naoki is pan and Celeste is demi. Naoki, for his part, isn’t aware of this last bit of information. :)))

Like, I don't remember the last time I felt this drive to just draw, draw, draw. I guess that's what indulging in your original stuff does to a mf :') At first, I wanted to leave it more rough-looking, but as I kept working on it, I couldn't help focusing on all the little details that make up my babies. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to work for a couple of days because I got sick, so I couldn't concentrate enough to color the other couple of WIPs I showed you.
