September Content Roadmap & August Content Recap

August has been a big month for this project, as it's marked the debut of the new core systems we'll be using going forward!

Additionally with the new world map and the alternative outfits for Susie, we've set the groundwork for many new features and content types coming in the future!

This next month we plan on putting the final touches to what we started this month so we can get back to what both you guys, as well as our whole team, wants to be able to focus on- consistent new content!

WELCOME TO THE UNDERCROFT- Maps and Dialogue

Our $1000 goal is to add story vignettes to the game, actually allowing players to talk to the starlets, learn more about them, and grow closer to them!

While we haven't hit that goal quite yet- we've been certainly considering it as we come closer towards that goal. To this end, we've begun working on some of the back-end elements in preparation.

How would we implement this?

How would the UI work?

How does it relate back to the rest of the game?

The new "genre" currencies at the lower left were the first step in this- now I'm able to reveal the next step, the Undercroft map screen!

After you make a film we want players to be able to choose from a selection of starlets on a map screen, clicking on one of these starlets starts a short story vignette featuring that character and location. The idea is heavily inspired by Monster Prom- though of course the rest of the game is still focused around constructing films.

NEW BUILD- 0.1.1 BETA (WIP)

Hey there guys! Looks like the clock has struck midnight for me- I've got to run to catch a flight. I wasn't able to fully polish up the new build, but it is here, as I promised! Albeit more of a preview build than anything.

It's rough but the core loop is mostly there. It's enough to be able to see all of the cool new little presentation bits and pieces we've been adding, as well as to mess around with the new animations!

The animations are a bit buggy right now and the skin swapping for missionary is having issues- but I'll be releasing another build soon which is more stable and complete. Ideally around the beginning of the month. (As well as builds for other platforms then)

For the time being any feedback you guys have is welcome, and I will be able to into implementing those things for the more polished build!

Bonus Chart- CAMELLIA- Starlet Spotlight

Here's the first of the new content from our Cloud Meadow collaboration!

This bonus chart is an expansion chart which you can use with the Spooky Starlets adventure chart.

After the revised version of Spooky Starlets releases, we will also be pushing out an update which will include Camellia into the game and give her a CG! Animations will come later.

This chart will be a public chart- it's locked for Patrons here due to Patreon's TOS on lewd content.

Cloud Meadow x Spooky Starlets : Collaboration Announcement!

Hey there guys! A while back, I hinted at a new character coming to Spooky Starlets.

Now I'm excited to announce who that new character is: it's Camellia from Cloud Meadow!

She marks our second cross-over character as well as the start of an exciting new collaboration between us and Cloud Meadow!

Tomorrow I'll be posting a new bonus chart detailing Camellia's abilities and stats for use in the Spooky Starlets adventure chart.

In the future- we'll be adding Camellia to the game, including a new CG and even animations!

Spooky Starlets On Steam!

Hey there guys, exciting update! We've gotten Spooky Starlets approved and with a coming soon page up on Steam! The time frame listed on the page, Winter 2019, is a rough goal but by no means set in stone yet.

To get this clear out of the gate- patrons will continue to receive the latest versions of the game, even after the steam release. The steam release will just be an alternative source to purchase the game once it is complete enough to stand-alone. I will look into allowing Patrons who  pledge before the game goes live to be able to receive a Steam copy as well when it officially launches.

Once the main portion of the game is done, Patrons will continue to receive the latest updates and content as a part of their pledge. However since Patreon is a monthly commitment- the being a Patron will continue to reward additional benefits and content- some which cannot be gained through the Steam version.

In addition, the Steam version may have additional updates come out as paid DLC, again to keep parity with Patreon pledging. We're not certain on the specifics yet and want to work with you guys to come to something that's fair, but we hope you guys are as excited as Spooky Starlets continues to become more polished!

Development Update + Future Content

Hey guys! Here with that post I promised the other day.

First, I wanted to show off some of the revisions to the UI, as well as highlight the new tweening system we're using. Tweening allows us to do animations which actually transition out pieces of the UI- something which was already in the game, but our old system was limited and very time consuming.

This new system means transitions should be a lot easier for us to implement and should look a lot more polished.

Additionally, I reworked the "frame of the UI to be less bulky compared to the last iteration I showed off, which will come in handy for showing off the CG scenes and animations in the game. Regardless- I want to have this new version of the game release in July.

Moving on- I've had a chance to collate the results of the polls from the other day, both from here and on Twitter. It looks like on the whole, people want to continue seeing more animations over more characters. 

As such, we're going to continue to focus on new animations as well as animation polls- however, Wolfrad will also be returning to contribute work to the project again in the form of additional characters.

He won't be able to work as quickly as he used to for a while as he is still undergoing some medical concerns- but we do want to see about slowly adding new characters to the charts and game, however we want to keep our animation efforts solely on the core set of characters for the time being still.

In other news, Spooky Starlets should be going up on Steam within the next couple of days as a "coming soon" page- which isn't early access, it just means you can check it out and add it to your wishlist if you like.

Additionally, I still have plans to get that new build of the current game out before the end of the month, so look forward to that!

What Kind Of Content Do You Prefer?

Howdy guys! I know this month's been a bit slow- but there's new content on the way soon!

Due to some personal struggles with a big move, the tittyjob animation has been delayed slightly, but it's still slated to release!

To make up for that, I'll be releasing a new build of the game before the end of the month- it's not the new UI build quite yet, but an in-between build which features a new sex scene!

In the meantime, I wanted to get a better idea of what kind of content you guys prefer to see and vote on. I've been thinking about working on additional characters on the side since Wolfrad is able to begin drawing again- (though not at the same rate as before). Specially new futanari characters.

Hopefully this poll can give us a better idea of what is interesting to you guys and what we can make more of!

As promised, a new round of voting is here! This time we're gonna focus on getting one of the starter animations done! As always, votes will be cast in Discord- different voting channels will be available depending on your current pledge tier!

June Content Roadmap & May Content Recap

Due to some delays in figuring out our brand new animation pipeline- we were only able to do one new animation this month. There was also a delay in moving forward with the updated UI- but for a good reason, we've been able to come up with something even better looking!

The new UI will be animated, make use of special effects, and be easier to understand and navigate! This UI update is important as it will give us a framework for us to release an update featuring overhauled game mechanics!

CRISIS POINT CROSSOVER & PUBLIC RELEASE 0.0.8

Hey there guys! A while ago we announced we would be hosting a cross-promotional event with the guys working on the adult game project, Crisis Point Extinction. I'm very excited and happy to announce that the first part of this is done! I've gone ahead and uploaded a new public build to Newgrounds, Gamejolt, and Itch.

I will also be making a post  for a brand new Patron-only build shortly.

This new Public build features a brand new character- Alicia, the main character of Crisis Point Extinction! She's got her own scene, position, and will eventually we will update the game to include animations featuring her as well!

Not only that, there's also a brand new public update for Crisis Point Extinction which features new Spooky Starlets related content! We each contributed a nod to eachother's games, so if you want some fresh new Spooky Starlets content, go check out Crisis Point!

 I used to work on Crisis Point and contributed much of the game's current UI and branding, including the current logo. The gameplay and animation isn't just "good for a porn game," it's just plain, flat out, good. If you want a game that's as fun as it is titillating, check out Crisis Point. I'm proud to have contributed to it and I hope you guys can enjoy it as well! 

May Content Roadmap & April Content Recap

Thanks to all of your support, we've been able to continue growing this month, and our second month of Spooky Starlets development has continued to ramp up!

Starlet Release & Overview: Vivian Venom

With much great excitement and also a bit of a heavy heart I bring to you all: Vivian Venom, the 8th and, for the time being, final Starlet to be added to our overview. We plan to continue to add more Starlets in the future, however for now, as I've mentioned in the past, we will be focusing on animating the current Starlets for the time being.

Her CG will be coming out before the end of the month, ideally. Additionally- I'm working on the next build of the game still which will include Blibby Bobbs, start setting things up for Vivian, among some other features.

I have some exciting sneak peeks and I will posting in the upcoming days, so keep an eye out on that- big improvements planned for the game itself!

CROSS-OVER CHART: Crisis Point Extinction

I'm very pleased to announce a thing I've been working on for a while with our good friends from the Crisis Point Extinction team! Their game's protagonist, Alicia, will become a special bonus Starlet in Spooky Starlets! Likewise, Susie Stitches will be making a very special guest appearance in their game!

I've worked on and off with the CP:E guys for multiple years at this point, and I'm very excited to be able to have us do a cross-over like this. I hope you guys check out their project and enjoy the new content we've worked with them to provide!

The start of this cross-over is adding Alicia as a bonus chart, however she will eventually be added to the game, and ideally, will also be receiving animations.

Additionally, we hope to do more cross-overs similar to this one going forward- so keep an eye out!

This, and future cross-over characters will be free and available to the public.

This post has been made Patron only due to the adult content with the icons, however, it will be posted on other places. Just wanted to let you guys know that these are special exceptions and the rest of the bonus charts are still exclusive.

Bonus Chart - REDD RYDER - Starlet Spotlight

Now that we've reached our goal to add in alternate designs for each Starlet- I've gone ahead and updated the bonus chart format to show off alternates. The $500 goal alternate design is not done yet for Redd- the current alternate design you see is a sample of what we want to do for the $750 goal tier.

The main four girls, Susie, Redd, Drusilla, and Francine all have Space Age sample outfits. For now, all eight current girls will be getting an alternate base design option, and if we manage to get our next goal then we will be doing genre alternates for all girls and all genres!

Starlet Voting Winner - Vivian Venom

The next Starlet has been decided! Vivian is the last introduced Starlet for the near future. I hope you guys are ready for some hot millfy spider action, because that's what we have in store for you all!

Starting next week, we will be transitioning to animation votes, were Patrons will decide which position we animate next. We hope to incorporate these animated positions into the game so that players may actually get the chance to see their films play out for them.

Until then, Primadonna tier patrons will be the first to check out Vivian, getting to see WIP sketches and her initial design done by Lolly. Once her design and art is finalized, everyone will be able to see her in about a week and a half, I hope you guys look forward to it!

Bonus Chart - SUSIE STITCHES - Starlet Spotlight

As promised- here are the bonus charts containing the exclusive Starlet items!

These items will eventually be added to the game as well- but that will likely come after our re-work of the current mechanics.

I will continue to work on new charts for the existing Starlets which show off their unique items and which provide a little bit more lore for each girl.

Basically how these work is that you can use the effects of these items with the core adventure chart so long as you have the appropriate Starlet selected.

This was a ton of fun to do now that I've finally gotten a chance to sit down and do it- I'm really excited to make the rest! I hope you guys end up looking forward to more of this content!

Starlet Voting - ENDS 4/10

Our very first sudden death voting- four choices, one class. This will be our last Starlet voting for two or so months as voting will be temporarily switching over to positions to animate next.

This means however that the stakes are higher this time- whoever doesn't get picked in this round of voting won't be seen for a while until we transition to a future Season block of girls and they make sense to come back.

Voting can be done in the Discord for Starlet and Primadonna tier Patrons!

Starlet Release & Overview: Blibby Bobbs

The road to film stardom is different for every monster. Some start out as actors, others as musicians, others as fitness coaches. The beauty of the film business is that _anyone_ can become a movie star! Blibby's opportunity to act in films came from her illustrious career as a swimsuit model. While never formally trained in acting, director's clamor to feature her unique and unusual body.

While some less kind Starlets may gossip behind the scenes about Blibby's weight- she is actually able to roughly control her mass. The form she usually takes, seen here, is simply what makes her feel the most comfortable and happy. With enough materials she can grow and even temporarily split off into multiple bodies.

She'll be added to the game after her CG is out- like the others we will be working on also getting her voice acting and unique icons as soon as we are able to!

A new round of Starlet voting will begin tomorrow.

This will be the last round of Starlet voting for roughly two months. We will be switching our focus on animating and fleshing out our current characters for a bit, the Starlet voting polls will become Position Animation voting polls. So rest easy Patrons, you'll still get to have a say in what we make! How do you guys want to see our Starlets get it on?

We will be making more girls, but we want to make sure we can give you guys some quality animations and other additional materials for the girls that currently exist first!

Starlet Release & Overview: Cristal Clearly

Susie isn't the only Starlet created from scientific muckery- there are other girls out there who have made a name for themselves through the powers of mad science, intentionally or not. One such Starlet is Cristal Clearly- known for her rather... transparent personality.

Cristal is going to be added to the game as the first of her kind, a bonus starlet which doesn't count towards the first season's goal of 12 Starlets. While Cristal is unique in many ways- in certain ways she is much like many of the other Starlets, including the fact that she will be receiving her own NSFW CG!

STARLET VOTING RESULTS (& more misc updates)

We've come to the end of another voting round! Blibby Bobbs the slime girl has consistently been a fan favorite among voters- yet somehow has always managed to just barely lose out. This time she finally gets her spot in first place! Many thanks to all of the Patrons who participated in the voting! Primadonna tier backers will be able to check out WIP snapshots of Blibby as we work on her, and everyone else will see her in about a week!

Tomorrow I will be posting Lucy Lovette's NSFW CG for backers and her SFW CG for the public.

The new game build is coming soon. It will feature Lucy's new content. For those having issues with the current downloads- please be patient a little longer while I get this new version out- hopefully it should help with any issues you guys are experiencing.

The TinyHat Q&A Is tomorrow morning, March 30th, at 7am PST! It will be hosted on Twitch.

ALSO, we hit our first Patreon goal! I will be making a separate post about that in the upcoming days and let backers see the new content as it is produced in the upcoming weeks!

Roadmapping - Animated Films

So, time and time again, we've had people request to be able to actually see the films they make. Usually my kneejerk reaction was- "that would be too complex, it would require too many animations, the point of the project is to just use your imagination!"

But after hearing it enough and thinking about it, I got to thinking. Would it be too complex? So, I ended up talking to a few animators about potential solutions which we could use to cycle our set of 12 positions across each of the girls with very little additional work. Now after an initial set of work, I am very proud to announce that we've figured out a working solution to introduce animations to the game!

As shown in these initial examples, we figured out a way to use the same animation for two different characters that have different proportions and body shapes. This gives us a lot of freedom to get creative with our girls while also not blowing up the animation budget.

We're still a ways off from actually implementing these into the game- and we don't have a terribly large amount of budget to churn these out, but I'll try and have these come out at a slow but consistent pace and post them here for Patrons to check out. Currently, we have some big plans for May. We want to add updated game mechanics and hopefully have the animations in by then.

Meanwhile for upcoming April content, we'll continue to produce new Starlets, CGs, and (ideally) more animations. The build in which Lucy will be introduced is delayed while I see about adding in a temporary placeholder tutorial.

Meanwhile, other things going on with the project- - - - - - -

 We will be re-working the $3 tier. Not many people seem to be interested in the main adventure chart, so we want to transition that to being free content- while keeping the upcoming bonus charts locked behind the tier still. We are still thinking of another benefit to possibly replace the main adventure chart's removal from that tier.

NEW STARLET: Lucy Lovette - Fitness Temptress

LORE: In the world of Spooky Starlets, porn isn't just a niche type of entertainment like it is in our world- it is the main source of entertainment. Think of just how many of our movies and games feature violence and conflict. Imagine our version of Hollywood- but with sex replacing the "meat" of most movies.

This is no exception even when it comes to things like gardening shows, cooking shows, and even fitness tapes! This is where Lucy Lovette comes into play- much like the Richard Simmons of our world, Lucy is a superstar in the world of home fitness. Though some of the snobbier Starlets may consider her "D-lister" or "cultural novelty," there is no denying Lucy is a household name in the specific Undercroft that our main cast of Starlets live.

GAME INFORMATION: I'll be updating the game (and adventure chart) to include her in the upcoming week- she'll be getting additional assets such as her own icons and voice acting, but much like with Rella, Miscon and Fefe will need a bit more time to get those assets in. They're coming though!

I, (FlynnFlann) will be gone the next couple of days.  Don't worry though- I have some posts queued up for the next couple of days, progress will continue as normal! Additionally, the team will still be around so feel free to say hi on Discord still! As for why I'll be gone, you see,  I'm moving to Japan, which will be a benefit to this project for a couple of reasons. 

1. Cheaper cost of living. Sure Japan in general has a pretty high cost of living much like many other developed countries- however for my lifestyle (the NSFW creator) it's actually easier for me to keep myself afloat. This lets me work on and invest more money into the project.

2. Better access to NSFW networking. I'll be able to go to more NSFW related events and make friends and new collaborators- they might be able to help us with the project!

3. Great Sources of Inspiration. Japan is a beautiful country with many great sources of inspiration- lewd or otherwise. My artistic juices and general mental well being will be getting the boosts they need to make sure I can keep improving this project with the help of our collaborators!

In the meantime, some other important things to note:

The new Starlet votes are up- Patrons have until March 28th this time around to cast their vote for the next Starlet!

Additionally, there's only one week left to get the exclusive Susie Stitches ringtone!

In the future we will be having our limited time exclusive be at the beginning of the month instead of the end of the month, but we do want to try and offer a new and unique exclusive every month if possible!

Roadmapping- Animations

One of our lovely community members, Orexius, recently worked on an animation of one of our positions for fun in his spare time. The whole team was really impressed and happy with the above result- which to us, serves as a proof of concept of what we could do to add more lewd content to the game.

Orexius has given us permission to post this animation here to give you guys a sneak peek at something we could possibly do- after all, many people have requested animation.

On top of this- I have been working with an animator to get some mockups made of doing animation "rigs" for each position which will allow us to swap out the assets for each girl, but keep the animation the same. What does this mean? If we can get that to work- we might be able to confirm that it will be possible to have you watch the movies you make for each girl. Yeah, exciting right?

Would you guys like to see us replace our $1000 per month goal to be able to add animations to the game, or would you rather get more story first?

Do you guys want frame-by-frame animations of each position first, or do you want to see puppeted animations with each girl?

I'm very excited to be trying something new- our audio guy Clareity was playing around with some of Fefe's voice assets and as well as his own music. He came up with a really cute ringtone and we decided  it would be a fun thing to be able to share with you guys!

TinyHat Studios LIVE Q&A - March 30th

We've been playing around with the idea of doing a live Q&A every month, and will be testing out this idea with our first month's session!

The date is confirmed, however the time is still being decided on. There's a poll currently running in our Discord in the #Announcements channel. Check out the proposed times and help us pick the best one for you!

For now it will likely only be me, FlynnFlann, answering questions- but in the future we may have other team members hop in depending on interest and availability.

We will be hosting on Twitch and I will be making an appearance personally over voice and possibly camera- while the stream is up I will also be working on some Spooky Starlets related work or playing some fun tangentially related games!
