Toy Chica in the Vents

So... remember how I posted the sketch of this yesterday? Well here it is now...

You can probably tell i had fun with this one. I just I really just got to play around and experiment, and I think its come out quite good. I think im gonna call it done just because I do have other projects that I need to work on, but if that was not the case I would have said I wanted to add a little more. I think the static and the extreme lighting really ties things together. I like it when fnaf stuff doesn't totally disregard the horror elements.

Some other small details that I included, when toy chica is trying to be threatening her eyes are black, but when she is asking for help they turn back to blue. There isn't a normal phone on the desk of fnaf 2 (at least I didn't see it when I checked) so added one in and made it purple as a nod to the old theory that the phone guy and purple guy were the same.

I do want to add some extra text just to explain whats happening, but Im still thinking on how I would want to do that. I made spaces for the posters, but not 100% sure what I would do for them, and I was going to add something on the cup on the desk, but forgot about it until now.

Toy chica in the vents, sketch

Something I've had for a while but for some reason didn't think to post until now. Its just a rough sketch atm, but I like what I have so far. Like always, let me know what you think!

Its just a one page comic, like with the mountain tea house project this is really just a fun thing for me to do that will remain small. I can't remember exactly when I drew this, but it was at least a month ago at this point. Now that im back in action, its time to get some progress on this one too!

The idea in my mind is that this was another security measure for the night guard to make sure the animatronics don't get them. But I don't think its really worked as intended...

Hornet 23 complete!

Another 2 in 1! Now Hornet 23 is complete for your viewing pleasure!

Like I said in the last post, I realized I forgot a few details in the last panel, so I added them in. Does it make perfect sense that you can see the cracks in the fall? maybe not, but I kept them anyway. I also fixed some of the shading, mainly in the second panel. And of course I added the dialogue. Not a whole lot to add to the behind the scene paragraphs that I haven't already talked about. So ill ask for what you think and leave it at that.

Hornets dream 23 update

Another update is here! Color and shading are in progress, but not done yet!

I think I like where its gone so far, but a few days back I realized i forgot something. In the last page I added some details for the background from the actual area in the game. But for panel 4 I realized I forgot to add them back in. You can even see the soul stream in panel 1 thats supposed to still be there in panel 4. So im gonna have to add those back in, but in the meantime I wanted to share what I had so far. Ive gotten most of the character shading in, only one in need of some more really is panel 3. And once I get those things settled I think page 23 will be complete!

Samus and the boombox, page 2 sketch

Samus is back, and in action! Page 2 now has its sketch, which means I can get to page 4!

This was another thing that was a long time coming. For those who kept up, I drew the third page first, and then had to go back and draw the previous two. This one took me a while for a few reasons, but the one I want to highlight is that I had to decide the speed of her growth, or more specificly, make sure it lines up with the speed of page 3. Also I want to mention that the design of samus' zero suit is a little weird now that ive been looking closer at it. If you look at other drawings people have done, can tell who was looking at a reference while drawing the zero suit, who was just drawing from memory, and who was really paying attention to the details. Cause its fairly particular.

The dark blue is only on the inside of her thighs, rap around her knees but cover more on the outside, her hips have a patch of dark blue which extends up to most of her back. Its one of those things that you really only notice when you want to reproduce it accurately. And I might now have to go back and make sure I did it right for the previous pages when I ink them.

Im also debating changing the suit to her pre-Other M design. We don't get to see that version of the suit too oftan, and it wouldn't be too much time wasted. But the other-m design as become the most popular version. (someone was horny when they were modeling her back in 2010)

Hornet 23 lineart

Hornet 23 is also making good progress now. Expect more updates soon!

Suprise! 2 updates in the same day! I needed to try something to make up for the quiet lately. Anyway, not a whole lot to say about this one. I added some stars around Quirrel's head but not much else in development. I'll say tho that drawing good cracks isn't as easy as you think. Its more than just putting a bunch of zigzags, you need to consider the angle of the floor/wall. I was worried about how I was going to draw the splash. I think it came out in an acceptable spot, but I wish it looked better.

like always, let me know what you think!

Hornet 24 sketch

Hornet 24 has its sketch at long last! I would like to apologize for how long its taken, things have been incredibly busy lately, but fingers crossed I can get some things done around here.

Anyway, I had a general idea what I wanted to do for this page, but it took me a minute to sketch the sequence out. I wanted to let Quirrel and Hornet have a brief conversation together before being interrupted by ghost falling down the hole (and having a very soft landing). One thing I had to choose was weather he landed on hornets bust or rear, since that would change who was going to fit in the shot. In the end I settled on her butt for a few reasons. First, in the panel above her ass is in full view while her breasts are cut off. I felt going down would read clearer if the thing your seeing was the same as what you saw above. Next I wanted to have quirrels reaction for Ghost falling down since while Quirrel and Hornet don't really know each other, Ghost and Quirrel do.

A few small things to talk about. Im not 100% happy with the second panel. You really can't get a good idea on the size of her breasts with how that one is drawn, but I might just suck it up. Also, in the last panel Ghost is actually breaking out from the boarder. This is a fun trick where you can make things really look like they are popping out to add that level of energy to the page, so it was an opportunity I didn't want to pass on. Also I had Quirrel holding Hornet's ass to help him stand. But I was sure to make clear that his eyes are closed and his back is rough. He's not doing it on purpose is the point.

Like always, let me know what you think!

Hornet 23: refined sketch

So I went back to redraw a few panels. There were some parts from the original sketch I didn’t think looked all too great. Mainly I redrew the first panel, I think this one looks better at least. I then removed the third panel, replaced it with the second, of which I adjusted to make fit and work with the story, and then drew a new panel two.

With all this in, I think I will just refine it a little before jumping straight to lineart. The only complicated part of this page will be the splash as hornet falls, other than that the rest should be quick and simple.

Like always let me know what you think!

Sketch time: Teisha the witch

Once again, I just wanted something fun to make, so I would like to introduce Teisha! She's just a witch who maybe got a little too big for her broom. You might be asking, why is BGL drawing witches in summer? And to that I say, its never too early for some spooky fun!

Anyway, a friend challanged me to draw a witch with twin tails, so thats where this came from. I also can't remember if ive said this before, but if I have I will just repeat myself, DRAWING HAIR IS NOT FUN. Its honestly harder than drawing hands to me. There is just something about hair that goes wrong, especially if im trying to draw a particular hair style from a different angle. I like how her hair came out overall, but there are a few sections (mainly the bottom sketch) that I don't think it came out all that great.

Anyway, thats that. I think I might do something with her for this october, but otherwise im gonna move on to other stuff. But I hope yall like it!

Hornet's dream #22

Hornet 22 is now done! I quite like how this one came out, even though I know its not the most exciting page of the story. The glow of the soul water was fun to make, plus I got to play around with some of procreate's warp tools for the text. I think I will do a few more additions before its posted publicly. There are a few parts I think I missed here. Otherwise however i hope you all like it!

In this page, I wanted to take the opportunity to expand a little on the story of this version of Hollow knight. Ive mentioned it before, but the events of the game have gone down a little differently here.
1. the infection is gone (yes I know the bug guys had orange eyes a few pages back, but that was more to represent them being obsessed rather than them literally being infected). Of course Quirrel wouldn't know, but the radiance is not dead, rather just defeated.
Because of this, the Dreamers were able to be saved, and as said here are now in charge of the kingdom. (You might also notice that Quirrel still has Monoma's mask. Of course this is because I like it, but for the sake of continuity it obviously is a replica/duplicate cutacy of the mask maker, who might be interesting to include in some way). And of course a nod to the Pale king, of whom Quirrel would have 0 way of knowing his fate. Im not sure if im gonna still have him dead, on the one hand I really don't have much of a plan for him in this story, but at the same time considering that almost every other character who had died in the game is now alive in this one, it feels a little more morbid then necessary for him to still die. I suppose i'll got to that at some point.

Like always, id be interested to hear what you think!

Theft at the twin mountain tea house (final update)

Its complete! Or at least im gonna say its complete since I have other projects that need to be worked on. I hope you like it!

Anyway, texture brushes are too good! I ended up using them for the floor and the window patterns. Procreate comes with this floor pattern in its defaults, but ive never used it before since I felt it was a cheat and didn't think it would even look too great. I had the idea of doing the floor boards manually like I did with the tables, but something about it was just not working. So I decided to try the brush (which draws in a top down view, that was the main problem), and warped it to fit the perspective. Turns out, having the brush draw top down makes it pretty warp friendly, so you can bend it to fit almost any perspective. So I guess you'll be seeing more floor patterns in the future.

I however did the snake manually, I was looking forward to this part and wanted to make it look as good as I could. I ended up scraping most of the pattern I had in the sketch, It didn't look that good. So instead here is what ive done, hope you like it!

Robbery at the twin mountain tea house: big update

So usually I post updates peicemeal, like a sketch update, lineart update, color update, shading update. But I ended up just getting it all done in quick succession, so here is how its going! Im not done with it yet, the floor is way to plain and the characters need more shading, plus im saving the snake for later. But yeah, Ive experimented a bit more with texture for the background, plus im not 100% satisfied with the head scarf of the robber. They look a little too much like a pirate as it is. Plus I need to do some shadow work. But other than that its getting close. I might even post again tomorrow if I wrap it all up.

I also know its been a little bit since ive posted on the Samus comic. I have not forgotten about it, but it will be on the back burner just a little longer while I get other things sorted. But until then, let me know what you think!

Hornet 22: color update

Color is in! And speaking of color, I have something dumb to talk about.

So what color is the shell of Hornet and Ghost? White right? In the game sprites thats the case, in fact most characters have a white shell/mask. So thats that, just leave them white when I color it. But theres more to it. In item descriptions and dialogues, it is noted that Ghost's shell is particularly pale. This kind of thing can also be seen with other items like the pale flowers that you get from the lost lover. This is because of their connection to the pale king, and I thought it would be a great detail to include. Obviously Hornet is a daughter of the pale king, so Hornet and Ghost have a slightly different shade compared to everyone else, who is a little more grey or pink. (You might be able to notice the difference in Quirrel's mask and the dreamer's mask, which uses the same white I use for hornet.

So Hornet and Ghost use a pure white while other characters without connection to the pale king use off colored whites right? Well theres one more thing to add. You see shading white objects can be weird. Just using grey can give it an uninteresting lifeless look. So for the base color, I actually use a blue/cyan tinted white for Ghost and Hornet. This means I can use a pure white as a highlight and then the blue will act as natural shading and give it a cool silver look.

I talk about all this because i needed to make a decision on what color I wanted Quirrel's mask to be. He has no formal connection to the pale king, so it wouldn't be the same as Ghost or Hornet. I tried an off pink but that didn't work. Then I tried a green tint that I hoped would give him a rustic look, but that didn't fit either. In the end I just made it grey, something I would otherwise avoid because of what I mentioned above, but I think it works in his case. In my interpretation of his character, he is mostly a normal bug. No real special title or bloodline. Everything that makes him special is something he got on his own merits, not any sort of destiny. So a grey mask sort of captures that feel.

Anyway, thank you if you read all this. Please comment if you have any questions!

Hornet 22 Lineart ready!

The lineart for Hornet 22 is here! And I quite like how ive done it. This of course is the soul spring that can be found on the edge of deepnest, and part of me worried I wasn't going to be able to capture how calm and peaceful it is, but I think ive actually made this spot look nice. Next of course is color, and I have a few ideas for how I can really make this area pop!

Looking more at the second to last panel, part of me worries that you can't tell Hornet is about to land ON Quirrel. In fact I might try and redo that panel to make it really seem like you are looking right up and this is coming directly down at you! (However the more I think about it, I might just be able to shrink Quirrel and that could work just as well)

Page 22 is mostly a story page, I want a way to actually share a little detail about what time the story is taking place and some of the details on how it differs from the game story. Cause there are a few changes. But anyway, thats the end of this, feel free to comment!

Robbery at the Twin Mountain Peaks: Refined sketch

Did you know that 2025 is the year of the snake? Well I wanted to give Fang a fancy paturn for her dress and I thought it would be fun to use whatever animal was for this year of the Chinese calendar. I wonder if wearing that dress is what gave them this good luck?

I also wanted to draw more booba so I made the thief a lady as well. I gave her a cross-bone head scarf for character. I also changed out the round table for square ones since from the origonal drawing with Fang working, they were square there too. I think this will be about as far as I go for detail on this one, just because I don't want this to eat up too much time. I want to ink page 22 of hornets dream first anyway, and maybe get another page of the Samus comic sketched out too. So it might be a little bit before i post the inking for this piece. Anyway, let me know what you think!

Hornets dream 21: final update

The dialogue is in and ive gone and added some more detail too since I last showed (mainly a little more shading and shadows, especially for the shadows of the bushes. There is a chance I will go and make a few addititons before it goes public, but as it stands I am happy with where it is. I want to see how fast I can finish page 22, maybe get a proper schedule system going. Regardless I hope you enjoy it! Like always tell me what you think!

A thwarted robbery at the Twin Mountain Tea House (quick sketch)

Fang Hua (Who belongs to SaburoX) works at her fathers tea shop as a watress. But one day a someone came in and attempted to rob them. What the thief didn't expect however, were a pair of impossibly large and bouncy 'Mountains' that blocked the exit. Needless to say the robber was knocked to the ground after trying to make a run for the door, and was left stone cold!

I was very busy the other day and was feeling a little weary. I wanted something relaxing to make, so I decided that I was going to draw the first character I found, which turned out to be Fang! What was going to just be me drawing a character turned into this little scene, of which I like where im going with. This of course was only a quick sketch, from which I will detail and color. So stay tuned to watch the transformation!
It is not lost on me that this is the second time recently that I began a side project with the expectation of it being small, only to get caught up and make it bigger. I can say at the very least I kept the scope in a similar range to the original plan. Where with the Samus thing one sketch has since become a multi page comic. That being said, I am putting a rule on myself that I can not start any more side projects (excluding commissions of course) until I finish either this or the Samus comic.

Hornets dream 21, update

Progress is going very well for hornet 21 id say! Im playing with texture again, which I think works a lot better than what I was using before. (I was using a charcoal brush for the ground in previous pages, where here its more like a sponge brush that gives this really nice and rough texture) I've found that I spend a lot of time on the bushes, which is funny since they really aren't what people are here for. But they add so much to the scene that it looks cheaper when I don't. Im trying something similar here as I did in the previous page since I really like how that came out. But I think im gonna have to clean it up a little more. Beyond that this is really close to done, it just needs a few more touches and the dialogue and then I am good to move on to the next.
Also I had a lot of fun with the sunset sky if you couldn't tell. I think it came out nicely.

Samus and the boombox, page 1 sketch

Here is the first page for the mini comic. Of course its mostly set up for the fun parts, but Id argue set up is one of the more important parts when one is making an expansion story of some kind. Ive already posted what will be page 3, so we have an idea how big she will get, but for page 2 it will be all about the prosess.
Question is, who gave samus this mission? Did they know what samus was going to find? Did they hope that something would happen?

Hornets dream 23 sketch

Well there goes the soul spring, Hornet was just too big to fit. Maybe a little of it survived the crash. In fact its a miracle that Quirrel wasn't turned to paste, hornets gonna need help fitting through all the tight spaces of deepnest.
Id say im moslty happy with the sketch, tho I think im gonna change panel 2. I wanna say I can do something better for it. Im also not yet used to drawing quirrel, hope he doesn't look bad. Something I had to think about was weather or not I was going to adjust his design. Since I like to keep them close to the way they looked in the game I of course choose to not change him much at all. In fact I think only the girls are gonna see much in terms of redesigns, just so I can draw more curvy ladies. Its gonna be interesting to see what effect this will have on the comic in the long term.
Anyway, hope you like what I have so far, please leave a comment if you have any thoughts.

Hornet 21 color update

The base colors for hornet 21 are in! I also did a little more work on the background as I mentioned earlier, mainy added in the bushes. Shading is gonna be interesting, as I will be doing the same more dynamic technique as I did in hornet 20. My hope is that this won't take too much longer, so stay tooned to see!

Knick Knack Sisters

I added some basic shading and some fake clouds to the background. I didn't exactly intend this to be a big thing, especially since I have a lot of other things to get done. So while I don't think its my best work I think I did ok with it in its simplicity.

So something interesting I found out is that the name of the beach girl from the short is actually Sunny Miami and not Knick Knack as it seems more than a few people think. This brings up a question I have for everyone here, what should the names be of her new sisters? Right now im calling them red and purple as their bikini colors, but proper names that fit with Sunny Miami would be really cool. Whoever gives the best ideas gets a shout out when this is posted! So don't be shy!

Samus and the Golden Boombox

Just something fun im working on. I plan to make this into a 4-5 page mini comic about samus' mission to find and return the golden Boombox, which goes quite wrong. What you see of course would be the second to last page of the comic, the climax of sorts.

When I started this it was just the top panel. This world needs more samus booty expansion, and it made me think of the Boombox. It was a way for me to practice caturing the soft and squishiness of an ass that size. It wasn't going to be a comic, but I liked that one panel so much that I thought "I think it would be cool to see the story behind this one". So stay toned to see this develop!

Hornets dream concept art: god tamer

In a future chapter I plan to add God Tamer as a minor antagonist. The plan at the moment is for her to team up with lace over a shared vendeta against hornet and ghost. For this I wanted to adjust her design for when I draw her for the comic. I usually like to keep the designs close to how they look in the game, but for God Tamer I chose to take a little liberty with her armor and especially her proportions. I kept her helmet the same alongside her armored skirt, but the breastplate I changed from a flat design to one much more busty. From there I made her a bit taller and curvier. I thought a little bit about how curvy I wanted her to be, as I want to make it so every female character has diffrent sizes. In the end I decided for God Tamer to have a figure that was reminiscent of Lace, since the two would team up. However her ass is slightly smaller, and boobs a little bigger. More balanced in a way.

Im still working on how I want to characterize her. With it mostly being a question of weather or not she is more or less hot headed than Lace. One will be the planner, while the other is the muscle. However which of them that will be has yet to be decided. With that being said, she is not likely to appear until chapter 3 or 4. So this is planning going far ahead.

Knick Knack sisters, wip

Summer is only a few weeks away, and with it comes many wonderful sights. Will you be joining us to the beach?

I just wanted something simple and fun to draw, Ive been focusing more on commissions now that the semester is over, and figured this would be something new. For those not in the know, Knick Knack was Pixar's first release. A short no longer than a few minutes, and it featured Knick Knack, a beach babe with comically large bazongas in all their early computer animation glory. However when it was rereleased in 2003, they removed her treasure chest. On the one hand I see why it was necessary, but its still a tragedy all the same. At first it was just gonna be her, but then I thought 'why stop here?'

Sketch time! Betilla

Say hello to Sketch time, something I think I will do every now and again for practice. For those who aren't familiar with Rayman, this is Betilla as she appeared in Rayman Origins, albeit with a little extra mmph. Its a shame she was never a playable character, same with the other nymphs from origins for that matter. They all just have very appealing designs that are fun to draw, edith-up seemingly being a fan favorite. One day I could take what I have here to ink and color her, but that will be for later. Feel free to comment other characters you'd like to see for the next sketch time!

Hornet 21, near completion

I had done this a little while ago, but didn't know if I wanted to post it right away since there are a few things left for me to do. That being said I quite like how its come out and hope you like it too. I had left some space in the bottom because I expected to have big sound effects for the last panel, but I ended up doing something different, meaning I then had to think of something to do with the extra space. I think the gradient I added both helps to emphasize the more dynamic light, and hide that awkward gap. That being said tho, im not sure I like the direction I went for the cracking sound, or the cracks for that matter. I don't think you can see them well enough. So thats something Im gonna try and fix before it goes live.

6 Month Mass Effect Commission

This was one of the biggest commissions ive taken in recent memory. This took me about 6 months to complete, starting in November to today. In that time I swapped from photoshop to procreate after the first set. This was fun to do, but I also learned that I worry too much about messing up or not doing good enough. Id like to think Ive gotten a little better about that much. Regardless me and the commissioner are friends, so he was more than patent.

I also got to experiment with ambient lighting and other shading tricks. Id say the 5th section is my favorite. Its also interesting how the first two had much simpler backgrounds, shows I think how I got better.

Anyway, thats the end of this yap session. Hope you enjoy!
