Who remembers typing in games in the 80s? ... New video just dropped where I tackle two spooky games from those iconic Usborne horror-themed computer books. Watch me code and scream! ... And I don't just use the BBC Micro (as pictured), I even try typing one in on the ZX81 as well (and that membrane keyboard is one to make anyone scream lol)!!!

Guess who was featured in TWO Amiga magazines this summer! Me lol ... First, the Jul/Aug issue of ZZap! Amiga, where Judge Drokk from the legendary Anarchy demo group took me on a mind-blowing journey through the ‘90s Amiga demo scene. As a Gen-Z’er, sharing my first-time reactions was unreal! Then, I contributed to Retro Gamer’s Amiga 40th Anniversary Issue (275), spilling my love for these iconic computers. Check them out if you can!!!

Spent the whole summer learning about the wonderful world of vintage PCs (aka PCs you probably all grew up with ;) ... and pleased to share my latest build, this mid 90s Pentium 2 running at 233Mhz with a whopping 256mb of RAM, and Windows 95. Still got a lot to learn, as this era is all new to me, so would love to hear what everybody was using around this time in the comments. Anyway, as it looks like Carmageddon won the last, what should I play next poll, I've got it all running and ready to go on this machine. However, not having much luck in finding a VGA to HDMI adapter that can output in low resolutions. It just, the modern ones available only seem to work at higher resolutions like 1024x768. And the one I did find that worked in 640x480, and with the game playing, had really bad 45 degree line interference. So, again, if anyone know of one that works, or has experience in this, the def let me know below.

Thought this Philips Videopac G7000 (known as the Magnavox Odyssey 2 in the US) with it's bent joystick port would be a good contender for a new video. Opened it up to check it out, to find it just needed a gentle push back onto the board. Wish they were all this easy, although part of me was hoping I could get the soldering iron out lol ... Anyway, have to ask does anyone remember these? and if so, what games do you recommend I check out :) (PS. let us know if you would like to see some behind the scenes gameplay footage from the G7000 here on Patreon).

Thought it'd be fun to play a little game of I-spy🔍 with what's on my workbench today.
And let's just say, sneak peek project-wise, I've unintentionally been learning a lot about floppy drives for an upcoming video. Working on old tech is never simple lol
Anyway, drop a comment below and share what things you can see in my workshop.

It's finally here, my latest YouTube video, and I'm giving you all here on Patreon early access, before it goes live. Once again, thanks all for your patience, given how difficult it's been trying to film in the endless heatwave we all seem to be having. Hopefully, we are over the worst, so lot's more videos, as we head into Autumn. Enjoy, -Kari

As it looks like Street Fighter is going to win the poll, I thought I better dust off my SNES, only to find it no longer worked (always the way lol). So spent the afternoon fixing that one, and two others in my collection. Luckily it was an easy fix, just a dry joint on the power socket. My Japanese Famicom, only needed a clean. However the third one, the 1-chip version SNES with corrupt graphics is stumping me, so any help/pointers with that one appreciated?

New video out over on YouTube: https://youtu.be/tFb89_gN2dE ... Where I experience for the first time, the trials and tribulations of typing in some 80s computer games from a 1984 copy of famous C&VG (Computer and Video Games) Magazine ... Using 5 different retro computers, I test, and load up 5 of the 7 type-in games to see really how good these listings were!🕹️
As promised in the video, please find attached the exact code I typed in. There are 3 files, a disk image "frogger.d64" for the Commodore 64, a wav audio file (tape) "thunderman.wav" and "THUNDER.DSK" disk image for the TI99/4A. I've tested both, and can confirm they work either on real hardware, or the following emulators, VICE for the C64 and Classic99 for the TI.
Would love to hear your thought on the games you saw in the video, and your experiences with magazine type in games, whether good or bad.

Two camera shot, overhead and side on me ... and every time I rested the magazine on the Commodore 64 keyboard it started typing on it's own ... So had to think out the box with this one (like you can see in the first photo, to fix the problem😂), as when I switched from overhead to side shot, the screen was showing phantom random text being typed on screen, which obviously I did not want ... Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little insight into what goes into making a video, especially sometimes the problems you can face while filming👍
