Companion piece to this month's video; My cuts from Negaposi Angler #12

Hi everyone, as a companion piece to this month's video, attached is a zip with some of my cuts from the Negaposi Angler anime Episode 12, including the cut featured in this month's video so you can see the original. These include the Genga and Layout so you can see my progress. The director's drawovers are also included. I hope these can be useful to some of you!

A timelapse of a cut from Negaposi Angler

Hi everyone, this is a timelapse of a cut I did back on Negaposi Angler. This is technically a recreation of the original scene since I never recorded that one. I wanted to work on a video for the channel to talk about animating a scene from beginning to end. I wanted to use this or my One Piece work. But with the One Piece cut, while Toei is supportive of the animators, I'm running into a wall with Shueisha who owns the IP, so we'll see how that goes and in what form that video can be made.

Animating a scene from One Piece Timelapse

Here's me animating a scene from One Piece. This is the rough layout stage of animation. Hopefully this can be made into a full video for the main channel.

How to draw plants and nature

Let's learn about drawing plants and nature and stuff!

This video was made some time ago but never posted on the channel. It might go on the main channel in the future, but please enjoy it for now as a member exclusive!

Some of my recent cuts from One Piece

Here are some of my cuts from the recent One Piece season. Please see the attachment to check out both the original rough layout and the Genga animation. It was interesting how the animation changed very little from rough to Genga. It feels like Toei is generally quite hands off regarding the animation.

These might be interesting to some of you, so please check it out!

Here is a timelapse of me drawing some layout from the BullBuster anime. I hope this can be educational to some of you! Maybe in the future this can be made into a full video.

My Scenes from Negaposi Angler #8

Hi everyone, this month I want to share some of my work on the Negaposi Angler anime. I really enjoyed working on this show as it allowed me to improve my character acting and drafting abilities. There were a lot of challenges, but with the help of the senior animators, I was able to deliver something usable. Please see the attachment for the whole cut, including Layout, rough animation, director drawovers, and my Genga. I hope these can be educational for those interested!

Extra Clips from the NegaPosi Angler Doc

This month, here are some extra clips from the NegaPosi Angler Doc, including the footage of how to draw the characters from the show, and my chats with the various directors and producers of the production.

The animators at the end of time (NP Angler doc early preview Ver.)

Hi everyone, member content will be earlier this month due to scheduling challenges. Here is an early preview version of a short documentary I shot with Nut and Kadokawa on the NP Angler anime. Please give it a watch and I hope you enjoy!

Some of my scenes from Negative Positive Angler #2

We at Studio Nut worked on NP Angler from all the way back in 2021 or so to 2024. These are some of my scenes from the early days of production. I had just started using Clip Studio Paint a couple months before and I was still trying to get the hang of it.

Take a look at the attached file to see both the rough layout and the Genga. The way I drew in my early days vary greatly from now, so if you are interested in my own learning journey, please take a look.

'The Lost Art of Drawing the Classroom' Timelapse

This is a companion video to this month's 'The Lost Art of Drawing the Classroom' showing the process without cuts. This drawing took a while due to its complexity, and it might be of value to some of those that are interested in the full drawing process.

Genga Tips companion Timelapse video

Here's the full video without cuts to this month's video on drawing Genga. The original had to be cut for time, but the full video should help those who learn better by observing. Hopefully those two videos can help those who want to get into the industry by drawing Genga or 2nd Key Animation.

Some Layout and Genga from BullBuster #6

Here are some of my work from the BullBuster anime. There are both Genga and Layout/Rough Genga included, and I think it's a good visualization of the process where a scene is taken from rough to clean.

Take a look at the attachment for more files and some drawings from my directors as well.

A talk about my journey and the things I learned

Here is a recent talk and presentation I did with the students at the University of Houston and their Animation Club.

I go through my journey as an animator and the various things I learned along the way. I think this talk could be of interest to those who are interested in how I got to where I am, and has advice if you are also trying to grow as an artist.

Some additional work from the BullBuster anime

Here are some more shots of mine from episode 12 of the BullBuster anime including both Genga and Rough Layout. Clip Studio files are also included so you can take a look into my workflow. This show also used a lot of 3D layouts, and here you can also see how they are used in a production. Check the full batch of scenes in the attachments.

Patreon Exclusive: Japanese animators and their terrible handwriting

The western stereotype of doctors having bad handwriting equivalent is the Japanese animator's handwriting (The medical field is pretty much all digital here so no one really writes by hand anymore, at least here in Tokyo). Back when I first joined the industry, I would take a screenshot whenever I couldn't read someone's handwriting.  Let's take a look at these, and hopefully these can help you too if you are new in the industry.

Patreon Exclusive: Action Study Timelapse

Here's a timelapse for how I animate a relatively action heavy scene. This was originally planned for the main channel but was abandoned for quality and the fact that it would have been very long.
