This month we read (or tried to read...) Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I thought this was beautifully written and completely fleshed out - everyone felt extremely real with real motivations and emotions. But my god it was slow moving...
Like I mentioned in my Book Club 2023 review video - eventually I read the plot summary online and decided to return my copy to the library without finishing it. If it was half the size, I probably would have really enjoyed it. But it was way too slow for me to be enjoyable.
However, I didn't realise there's a TV show from HBO! Haven't watched it yet, but that might be a better medium for the story, in case you're interested in giving it a go!
Read/listen/watch this one? What did you think? ❄️

Just a heads-up, there is no Youtube video tomorrow. I was hoping to get one in after Mum left, but that's fallen through. So sorry, please forgive me! 🥹

Hey Patreon! 👋 When you say the word "wreath" enough, it doesn't really sound like a real word... anywho! I made my first-ever Christmas wreath. Actually, my first-ever wreath, period.
I got my kit here in case you wanted to give it a try (or find something similar!)
Hope you like the video!

Hey Readers!
For December, our Book Club Pick is Beartown by Fredrik Backman! We read "A Man Called Ove" by the same author a few years ago, and I saw this one received a bunch of great reviews! So let's try!
What is Book Club?
My goal is to read more - so I started Book Club! Each month, I’ll post what I’m reading and you are welcome to join in! At the end of the month, we’ll share our thoughts on the book (no spoilers in case you're still reading).
You can try and read each book, or pick and choose, or not! It’s totally up to you.
Happy Reading!

This month I read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt (her debut novel, by the way!)
I thought this was really sweet and very enjoyable to read. There's a few bits that you certainly need to suspend reality for (and probably a good 100 pages that could have been trimmed down near the middle/end) but I thought it was a really good book. Even though it's a bit chunky, I found the book to sail by pretty quickly and was very easy to pick up and get back into it. I can see why so many book clubs choose this one!
What did you think? Let me know (#nospoilers for those still reading) down below!

Can you believe I never watch British Christmas adverts? Until now?? 📺🎄
I know everyone does this now on YT, so I've always avoided it. But this year I wanted to break with tradition and see what all the fuss is about.
Have a favourite Christmas advert? Let me know!!

We were talking about Patreon video ideas on stream recently and someone suggested funny Christmas stories! I love it 🙏 🎄I know it's a bit early, but I'm working on planning/filming/editing many of the December videos early since my Mum will be here in December.
Please feel free to post any funny/silly/wild/weird stories that happened to you/loved ones around Christmas time! Or you can email them to adventuresandnaps@gmail.com

Hey Patreon! 👋 A few people have been asking: what's the A+N PO Box address? Annoyingly there's no way to have this info pinned somewhere on Patreon, so here's the details:
Alanna Naps
PO Box 302
FAVERSHAM
ME13 3DR
GB
The real address is held with Royal Mail, so if you'd like to send anything to the PO Box, please just make sure to use them! Other couriers won't have access.
Thank you so much! ☺️

I'll also be reading Britney Spears' new book whenever my local library finally gets a few copies..!

This month we read Home by Toni Morrison and I really enjoyed it. It's not necessarily a "happy" read, but I thought it was beautifully written and really gripping.
Some readers mentioned they wanted a deeper look into the characters while some argued for the opposite. I actually preferred the short book and only getting a glimpse into the characters and their stories - like a little snapshot where we know we're not seeing the entire picture.
Really well done where all the characters truly feel like full, real people. Great book!

This week's video is a little look into what I've been up to this week - and a bit chaotic! Mentally I've been all over the place this week.
But it's starting to properly feel like autumn now which I love 🙏 hope you have a cozy blanket and a hot drink nearby!

This month our Book Club pick was The Diary of a Bookseller and I kind of hated it! I read about 80 pages and decided to stop. To be honest, I was really surprised! This was recommended by multiple people and has great reviews, but ultimately I couldn't stand it 😅
#nospoilers .... The author seemed so miserable and not in a banter-funny kind of way, just an annoying way (at least to me). I thought the concept was interesting and I did like the insight at first, but eventually the complaining just got too repetitive. I know what it's like dealing with the public (not fun) but the snarky comments about all his customers made me feel sad lol
Did you read/listen to this? Let me know what you thought!

Hey Patreon! 👋 This week I got laser eye surgery... and survived!! Here's a look into what happened.
As I write this (Friday) I'm still trying to limit my time on the comptuer/my phone which seems to cause the most irritation. Hopefully that will improve soon!

HUGE thank you for everyone's support - on here, Twitch, Youtube, social media... it means a lot to me ☺️ Hope these clips make you laugh and you have a great rest of your weekend!
Also, Patreon has launched a new update called "Collections." Rather than trying to shift through posts via tags, I'm creating some Collections for various things you might like to check out - past livestreams for Best Buds, PO Box Hauls, Patreon Only Videos and Book Club reviews! Hopefully it should make it easier to find/organize content.
