Book Club REVIEW - Double feature!

This month we had two possible books from author Matt Haig, and I ended up reading them both!

First up was The Midnight Library - this was recommended by loads of people and I can see why. Really interesting concept, great "lessons" and overall I really enjoyed it! Quick read, pretty easy with nice short chapters. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new book.

Next was How to Stop Time - this one isn't as beloved as the previous one and I can see why - but it's still good! Interesting "lessons" in this one as well and a cool plot. I struggled making progress with this at first, but I think that was more to do with me not wanting to read than the book. It ended up picking up well and then abruptly ends! Overall I think it's worth reading, but I definitely preferred Midnight Library.

If you've been with us for awhile, years ago we read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue which is very similar to How to Stop Time. Personally, I think I preferred Addie - but both are good in their own right.

Did you read any of these? Let me know what you thought! #nospoilers for those still reading

What is Book Club?

My goal is to read more - so I started Book Club! Each month, Iโ€™ll post what Iโ€™m reading and you are welcome to join in! At the end of the month, weโ€™ll share our thoughts on the book (no spoilers in case you're still reading).

You can try and read each book, or pick and choose, or not! Itโ€™s totally up to you.

๐Ÿ“š Happy Reading! ๐Ÿ“š

Book Club Review ๐Ÿ

This month our book choice was The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri.

I thought it was heartbreaking and beautiful! This is certainly different than the usual book I reach for and I'm really glad I read it. We hear a lot about immigrants on the news, but we don't often get to see their journey through their eyes.

Definitely a tough read (not in difficulty but in subject matter) but a great one nonetheless! Although sometimes it made it hard to reach for the book because I knew it was going to be depressing...

Did you read it this month? Let me know your thoughts (spoiler-free!)

Hey Patreon! ๐Ÿ‘‹

In terms of A+N content, I'm looking into what platforms I'd like to focus on. Obviously Youtube, Twitch and Patreon are the main focuses for content, but what about like, secondary social media?

Please vote down below which platforms you use socially! Include as many as you like โ˜บ๏ธ Thanks so much!

I wanted to share a bit of what I've been up to! It's been both insane and quiet - so many family gatherings but also lots of floating around the pool ๐Ÿ™

I've filmed very little so far and to be honest, it's been really nice to recharge creatively again! I've got a few videos in mind before we go, though. Hopefully we can make it happen but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't.

Hope you guys are doing well! Any plans for this summer?

Book Club pick for July! ๐Ÿ

For July, our Book Club pick is The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri  I've never heard of this one before, but a friend recommended it so here we go!

I haven't read anything more about it - I always like reading books totally blind if possible.

Happy Reading in case you choose to read along, too!

June Book Club REVIEW! Cute!

For June we read Away with the Penguins by Hazel Prior - I thought it was good! It definitely reminded me of A Man Called Ove (that we read for Book Club before) but this was the British-old-lady-version. I struggled near the middle to keep going, but I think that was more because I wasn't as interested in reading than the book itself.

Overall I thought it was a sweet story! Nothing too surprising but still an enjoyable read. If you read/listened to it this month, let me know your thoughts below!

Book Club pick for June! ๐Ÿง

For June, I'll be reading Away with the Penguins by Hazel Prior! Thanks to community member Hannah for suggesting this one โ˜บ๏ธ

I saw the little blurb that said it's similar to Eleanor Oliphant which was another Book Club pick a year or two ago - I loved that one! So I'm hopefully this should be pretty good, too ๐Ÿคž

May Book Club REVIEW - I loved it!

For May, I read Daisy Jones and the Six - and I really enjoyed it! I appreciate that the author doesn't write books in a straightforward linear way, but there's always something a little bit different. I thought it was cool that the story is told exclusively through interviews as well! Fun! Great characters, too!

I haven't watched the TV show yet but from what I've heard, people have really enjoyed it. I wonder if it'll stay true to the book..

Did you read Daisy Jones this month (or sometime before)? Let me know your thoughts!

April Book Club Review - I kind of hated it! lol

Okay, so I have a few thoughts... this month's Book Club pick was Sally Rooney's Beautiful World, Where Are You

This had great reviews online and even won a few awards - plus I'd heard good things about Sally Rooney's other novels, so why not?

I really didn't like it... I still finished it, so I didn't loathe it. But I definitely didn't like it.

For a book about young people, they did not speak like young people!! Who talks about dating and finding love and then transitions into the collapse of the Bronze Age??? So confused. I hated the writing style and the dialogue.

Did you read this one? Let me know your thoughts!
